At that moment, Hou Yi was feeling irritated. He glanced at his watch and reminded himself that he had three seconds to either rush into the police station or hop into a taxi by the roadside. Without a second thought, Ke Jie sprang up from the ground and dashed toward the taxi.
After Ke Jie fled, Hou Yi stood up and watched him run away in a panic. The thought excited him; from today onward, the collaboration between Tongshan Real Estate and Yi Sheng Architecture was officially established. Tong Le would never be able to shake him off now. Sun Hu nodded repeatedly, understanding his boss perfectly! "Kick his weak spot! Make sure he's incapacitated!"
Then Sun Hu remembered something. "Oh right, Boss! I just took Ke Jie's phone. Following your instructions, I found a computer expert who cracked the code on Ke Jie's phone and cloned its contents onto another device."
Sun Hu couldn't help but marvel at how advanced technology had become!
Hou Yi asked, "Where's the cloned phone?"
Sun Hu quickly pulled it out of his pocket and handed it to Hou Yi. This phone completely replicated Ke Jie's data; aside from not being able to log into messaging apps like WeChat, all photos and text messages were accessible.
Hou Yi wanted to do this because of his endless curiosity about Tong Le. He suspected that Tong Le was having an affair with Zong Zeyu and wanted to understand what kind of life Tong Le and Ke Jie were living together.
Moreover, he sought out a computer expert because he had previously struggled for quite some time trying to unlock Tong Le's phone during an earlier attempt to seize it! He couldn't even be bothered to set up a password on his own phone; he didn't understand why people felt the need for such security on a simple device!
Hou Yi tucked the phone into his pocket and got into the car. Just as he was about to leave, Sun Hu hurriedly leaned in at the window. "Oh right, Boss! Earlier, Ke Jie mentioned that his wife is pregnant—just that and nothing else."
Hou Yi's expression became intriguing; things were getting interesting now. He was curious whether the child in Tong Le's belly belonged to Ke Jie or Zong Zeyu.
The car sped away.
Sun Hu stood on the ground watching as the car drove off into the distance. He scratched his head in confusion over Hou Yi's earlier comments. Why did they have to kick Ke Jie's weak spot? Wouldn't that lead to severe injury? If they really reported it to the police, it would be hard to handle. Besides, kicking someone in their weak spot seemed more like something women would do in a fight—he just didn't get it.
Meanwhile, Tong Le returned home after leaving Zong Group and headed back to Tongshan Real Estate. She finished up her remaining tasks but waited in vain for Ke Jie’s arrival.
She tried calling Ke Jie’s phone but received no answer.
As it neared closing time, she went home alone.
Just as she entered the house, she heard the sound of a washing machine running from the bathroom.
With Zhang Huizhi not at home, it was surprising that the washing machine was actually in use. Could it be that Ke Jie—who never did any chores—had started doing laundry?
Unprecedented! The usually lazy Ke Jie was actually doing laundry by himself?
Tong Le first searched for Ke Jie around the house and noticed the bathroom door was tightly shut. She approached and called out through the door, "Did you not go to work this afternoon? I tried calling, but you didn't answer."
Inside, Ke Jie replied, "I had something urgent to take care of. I went straight home after finishing."
Tong Le, curious, asked, "You did laundry by yourself? Do you know how to use the washing machine?"
