He wasn't really that nosy. Whether Tong Le and Zong Zeyu were mutually affectionate or if it was one-sided didn't matter to him. What mattered now was his desire to win.
He had fallen into Tong Le's emotional trap, and he found himself at odds with her. This strange woman with her bizarre emotions had caused him to stumble countless times since the moment he met her. He thought he understood her intentions, but he was completely wrong. He believed she would lose this time, yet it turned out he was the one who ended up humiliated.
At that moment, this foolish woman, driven mad by a man named Zong Zeyu, was acting like a crazed hen, wanting to peck at anyone she encountered.
In his mind, women like Tong Le were supposed to be obedient wives and devoted mothers, but Tong Le was entirely different. Sometimes he thought she was kind, other times naive; sometimes he felt she was foolish, and at other times, watching her actions made him think she was playing with fire and crossing boundaries.
Hou Yi grew increasingly curious. He liked strange things, and meeting someone as peculiar as Tong Le was a first for him.
Tong Le had no intention of continuing the conversation with Hou Yi. She turned to leave when Hou Yi immediately spoke up, "If you enjoy cheating so much, why not play with me? I'm more generous than your husband and even more so than Zong Zeyu. I see you've been with Zong Zeyu for quite a while without gaining anything substantial. I can buy you a bag, a car, or even a house. I'm curious about what it feels like to be with a woman like you."
Tong Le felt anger rising within her, but somehow, Hou Yi's words didn't seem entirely incomprehensible.
She initially wanted to slap him awake but then remembered Hou Yi's unpredictable nature. If she really did hit him, he might pull out a knife and stab her; after all, the video of him dealing with Ke Wenjie wasn't just for show.
Tong Le reminded herself that there was no need to get worked up over a fool. After all, fools speak without thinking; they don't have the brains to begin with.
Tong Leyan spoke up deliberately in an exaggerated manner, fearing that Hou Yi wouldn't understand if she didn't make it clear enough. "You are truly frivolous and self-important. Do you think everything outside of yourself is just a plaything? Who do you think you are? Bill Gates? Einstein? Are you super rich or super intelligent? From what I see, you're mediocre in both aspects yet full of arrogance, treating everything except yourself as mere toys. Do you think you're charming? With women flocking around you, you grab whoever you like and toss aside those you don't—calling it generosity by giving money, cars, and houses—while feeling quite accomplished?"
Tong Le intentionally displayed a carefree smile while thinking that in the eyes of those women, he was merely a temporary ATM or perhaps even less than that—a decent bed partner? Surely he didn't think he had gained something substantial from them?
She scoffed and shook her head. "You might not know this, but among us women, we have a habit of discussing men like you—whether you're disposable for a day or a month or even just for a season. We gossip about your shortcomings and strengths without any intention of forming serious relationships with you."
Tong Le's demeanor suddenly became assertive. "So President Hou, do you want to be my disposable boyfriend for a day or for a month? You're slightly better than Ke Wenjie but far worse than Zong Zeyu. However, your physique isn't bad; I'll try to say some good things about you when I gossip with my friends later. How does that sound?"
Hou Yi was stunned—this was the first time! He had been treated as nothing more than an object by a woman! Not only that but through Tong Le's words, he learned about some secrets among women! He had always looked down on them from above; now it seemed those women he had slept with might have been gossiping about him behind his back!
Hou Yi had already lost his mind countless times today; this time it struck the deepest! The most lethal blow!
Unable to contain himself any longer, he instinctively reached out and gripped Tong Le's neck tightly. Yet Tong Le showed no fear; she tilted her head back confidently, exposing her smooth neck as she allowed Hou Yi to lose control.
After all, they were in a neighborhood where people came and went; Tong Le wasn't afraid of death.
But surprisingly enough, Hou Yi backed down. He withdrew his hand as his gaze gradually dimmed until it lost its light.
Tong Le was somewhat taken aback; Hou Yi actually managed to control his emotions. She recalled the day of his car accident when he lay in her arms covered in blood, mumbling for his mother.
Having studied a bit of psychology herself, she understood that Hou Yi's madness wasn't without reason; perhaps it stemmed from childhood trauma. She remembered that both of Hou Yi's parents were gone—maybe there was a long and painful story behind him as well.
Generally speaking, someone with such an unpredictable temperament like Hou Yi often had psychological issues beneath the surface.
Tong Le took a deep breath, his tone calm as he spoke, "Engaging with others is like looking into a mirror. How you treat others and how you define them is a reflection of your inner self. If you nurture a flower in your heart, you'll see everyone as someone who needs to be cherished. If you carry a knife within, you'll perceive everyone as a target for your aggression. If you view women as mere playthings, then naturally, more and more women will disguise themselves as such to approach you for your wealth, until you believe there are no normal women left in this world."
Hou Yi raised his head with a cold laugh. "Are you trying to lecture me on morality? What does it mean when you're straddling two boats? What do you consider feelings? Aren't they just playthings and tools for amusement?"
Tong Le replied earnestly, "I have no regrets regarding Ke Wenjie; my intentions were genuine from the start, and betrayal came at the end. My feelings for Zong Zeyu are even more straightforward. As long as Zong Zeyu needs me, I would gladly give my life for him. You don't understand me or my story, just as I don't understand yours. There's no basis for comparison between us."
He continued, "If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave. In the future, Tongshan Real Estate and Yi Sheng Architecture will collaborate through me. I will take this responsibility seriously to ensure both companies benefit. Perhaps during this process, President Hou may deliberately make things difficult for me, but that's fine; I've seen ugliness before, and President Hou's attacks won't faze me."
With that, Tong Le turned and walked towards the door. This time, Hou Yi did not stop him. He silently watched Tong Le's figure grow smaller and more distant. A dull ache settled in his chest, as if something deep within was slowly being stitched together; the shattered innocence and longing from years ago seemed to drift back with the wind.
