"Lele, I never would have guessed you were such a little rich girl, owning an entire piece of real estate. But why don’t you let Jie manage it for you? He has such a good business mind," Lan Qingqing remarked smoothly.
Tong Le glanced at the time and stood up. "I have to head home now; Jie is probably back by now."
Leaving the office building, Tong Le got into her car. She opened her phone, intending to send a message to Zong Zeyu, explaining that she had just arrived at the company and hadn’t gone to see him. She felt it was only polite to inform him of her presence, especially since she didn’t want him to be gossiped about by other employees.
However, before she could finish typing, the passenger door suddenly swung open, and a man slid into the seat next to her—it was Zong Zeyu.
Zong Zeyu had known Tong Le was at the company all along. While she was distracted, he had passed through the Office Lobby several times before leaving again. He understood Tong Le’s thoughts and didn’t want to intrude.
Once inside the car, he began adjusting his seat for comfort, reclining in a relaxed position. Closing his eyes, he spoke lazily with a hint of complaint, "You came to the company but didn’t come to see me. I’ve been thinking about you all afternoon; shouldn’t you make it up to me?"
After saying this, Zong Zeyu turned his head slightly and opened his eyes just enough to look at Tong Le. Although he sounded like he was complaining, his gaze was soft and warm.
Tong Le felt awkward and stammered, "I—"
"I’m hungry; I want to eat," Zong Zeyu interrupted.
Tong Le quickly pulled out her phone and opened an app. "Let me see what good restaurants are nearby."
Zong Zeyu replied, "Let’s go to your apartment; you can cook for me."
Tong Le blinked in surprise. "But I still need to go home first..."
Zong Zeyu straightened up and closed his eyes again. "I don’t care; if you don’t cook for me tonight, I’ll just go home with you and eat in front of Ke Jie. Whatever he eats, I’ll eat too."
Tong Le swallowed nervously, feeling conflicted and dry-mouthed. There was no way she could convince Zong Zeyu otherwise; tonight’s dinner was unavoidable.
Starting the car, Tong Le muttered, "Fine, let’s go to the market and buy some ingredients for the apartment. I’ll cook for you."
Just then, her phone rang—it was Ke Jie.
Tong Le answered the call while Zong Zeyu beside her began stretching lazily, making exaggerated sounds as he did so.
She quickly slapped her hand over his mouth. On the other end of the line, Ke Jie asked curiously, "What’s that noise? Where are you? Are you home yet?"
Tong Le felt a bead of sweat forming on her forehead as she lied, "I’m not going out for dinner tonight; I’m going to find Tian Ling. You can eat by yourself. That’s it; I’m hanging up."
After ending the call, Tong Le let out a sigh of relief.
Zong Zeyu no longer stretched; he closed his eyes and smiled faintly, feeling quite satisfied.
Meanwhile, in the office lobby of the Zong Group, all the employees had left, including Wu Youyou. Lan Qingqing looked around at the empty desks, her teeth clenched in frustration.
At that moment, her phone rang with a WeChat voice call—it was Hou Yi.
Lan Qingqing answered, and on the other end, Hou Yi commanded, "I'm on my way to your company. I won’t be free for dinner tomorrow, so let’s do it tonight. I've already booked a restaurant; wait for me at the entrance."
Just as Lan Qingqing was about to explain that she still had work to finish, he hung up.
Feeling a bit anxious, she clenched her fists and glanced at the surveillance camera in the office lobby. Since there was no one from the company around and Wu Youyou had already left, sneaking out wouldn’t be a problem. After all, Hou Yi had driven over; it would be a shame to miss out on a genuine rich heir pursuing her!
Hurriedly, Lan Qingqing pulled various cosmetics from her drawer and began touching up her makeup in front of a small mirror. Tonight, she was determined to win over Hou Yi, this wealthy and handsome man!
