Tong Le drove Zong Zeyu to the supermarket, her mind filled with thoughts of the dishes she wanted to prepare, while Zong Zeyu pushed a shopping cart behind her. Occasionally, he would spot something new on the shelves that he hadn't tried before and toss it into the cart. Tong Le would turn around to inspect what he had picked up, only to take it out and return it to the shelf.
"These instant foods are loaded with additives," Tong Le lectured. "If you want to eat something, I can make you something fresh."
She moved toward the produce section, carefully selecting vegetables from a large display. Meanwhile, Zong Zeyu picked up a pre-packaged bag with a price tag attached and remarked, "Isn't this much more convenient? It's already priced."
Tong Le placed the packaged vegetables back on the shelf. "These are expensive and don't guarantee quality. It's better to choose them myself, and it can be cheaper too."
Zong Zeyu said, "I'll pay for everything; you don't have to work so hard."
As she filled her bag with vegetables, Tong Le replied, "It's not about money. The two most important things in life are eating and sleeping. You can't be careless about food."
Suddenly feeling cheerful, she looked up at Zong Zeyu and asked, "Since you're paying, can I buy some expensive fruit later? Some imported fruits are really pricey; I usually can't bring myself to buy them."
In that moment, Zong Zeyu's first reaction was not pride in being able to treat Tong Le but rather a pang of heartache. He felt sorrow for the little princess who had once been cherished by her mother but had been ground down by the Ke family, forced into a life of practicality and hardship.
Three marriages could change a woman significantly.
However, he was relieved that despite everything, he saw no trace of bitterness or pessimism in Tong Le. She remained pure and optimistic in his eyes, always striving for better.
Tong Le selected several fruits she usually wouldn't indulge in. She had a knack for amplifying her happiness and making those around her feel joyful as well.
Zong Zeyu couldn't help but tease her, "Who would have thought that someone with properties worth two hundred million would live so frugally?"
As they strolled through the aisles, Tong Le replied, "You should save when you can and spend when you should. When it's time to take advantage of opportunities, seize them! Life is about having enough to eat and drink. What’s that saying? When prosperous, one should benefit the world; when poor, one should cultivate oneself."
Zong Zeyu nodded along obediently as he pushed the shopping cart. "Yes, yes. So you should cultivate yourself."
Tong Le turned around and commanded playfully, "Then you should benefit the world!"
Zong Zeyu thought for a moment and said, "If you marry me now, all my money will be yours; you can benefit the world however you like."
Tong Le blinked and then turned away again, deliberately avoiding that topic.
However, she was quite practical in her thoughts about how to benefit the world. First on her agenda was to establish an anti-scumbag women's alliance! An organization dedicated to rescuing women like herself who had been exploited by parasitic men—those who cheated or scammed—and those who suffered from domestic violence or brainwashing.
Meanwhile, at the Zong Group's office building...
Lan Qingqing got into Hou Yi's car—a beautiful red sports car that had just been washed; its paint gleamed brightly under the sunlight.
