"Hey, I remember this Hermes bag. It seems like the last time Hou Xian took another girl out to dinner, that girl happened to be carrying a similar style, so Hou Xian didn’t give it away and left it at our restaurant, right?"
"That's exactly what happened. Last time, because the bag Hou Xian gave clashed with another one, I even reminded him about it. He rewarded me with a thousand yuan tip on the spot, which made me so happy! Then he said he would leave this bag here for the next time he brought another girl along to give it to her."
The waitress stifled a laugh. It seemed our place had become Hou Xian's exclusive dating spot. I felt like I had seen at least twenty or thirty beautiful girls that Hou Xian had dated!
Dating someone like Hou Xian was worth it; receiving a bag upon meeting was nice, even if it was just for a short while—it still brought joy!
At that moment, Hou Yi walked in after finishing his smoke outside.
Hou Yi sat across from Lan Qingqing without even glancing at the menu and told the waiter, "The usual, please."
Lan Qingqing was enamored with the Hermes bag in her hands. She looked at Hou Yi and said gratefully, "This gift is too precious, but I really like it."
Hou Yi's expression remained indifferent. "As long as you like it; don’t all women love bags?"
He glanced at Lan Qingqing with disinterest. In just over half an hour, he felt he had figured her out. Although they hadn’t spoken much, those few exchanges were enough to tell him that Lan Qingqing was just after money.
If it were Tong Le in this situation, he would have already started the car before she even fastened her seatbelt. Knowing Tong Le's personality, she wouldn’t just argue; she would likely hit him on the head without a second thought. Tong Le wouldn’t care about potential accidents—her fiery temper could easily make him lose his cool.
And if they were to stop the car midway, if Tong Le were in the passenger seat, she would kick the door open without hesitation and storm off without looking back. Before leaving, she would probably slam his car a few times while cursing him as an unprecedented cosmic lunatic!
Thinking of this made Hou Yi chuckle. He felt he understood Tong Le well enough; however, it seemed that he only grasped her way of doing things.
But then he recalled that he wouldn’t start the car until Tong Le had fastened her seatbelt because he worried she might be scared.
It struck him as odd that he was starting to care about Tong Le’s feelings. Even more frightening was that all these thoughts were merely his imagination.
Lost in thought, Hou Yi didn’t notice Lan Qingqing waving her hand in front of him.
"Are you daydreaming?" she asked.
Looking at Lan Qingqing’s face only made him more uninterested, but he knew he had to keep playing along with this game.
"So," Hou Yi began, "do you want to be my girlfriend? Accepting the bag means you agree. I’m not one for chasing women; if it’s meant to be, then great; if not, then it’s not."
Lan Qingqing was taken aback by such a sudden and domineering confession. They had only met for a few hours!
She considered playing dumb to stall for time but quickly dismissed that idea when she remembered their earlier thrilling experience in the middle of the road.
"I’m pregnant now, you know?" she finally said.
Hou Yi replied bluntly, "I know you’re pregnant and have a husband. Does that conflict with you being my girlfriend?"
Lan Qingqing was left speechless once again.
Hou Yi said, "If you don't speak, should I take it as your agreement?"
Lan Qingqing hurriedly replied, "What do you like about me?"
Hou Yi smiled slightly and said, "If I understand too much, it loses its charm."
