Wu Youyou didn't really dare to jump ship; she was just making a fuss. When Fan Qinghua saw that Wu Youyou had calmed down, he turned to head back for dinner. Tian Ling quickly grabbed Wu Youyou's arm and followed him.
Wu Youyou was deep in thought, growing more frustrated by the minute. Why would Aunt Berqi be interested in Wen? Wen was simply not a match for Zong Jin! Were the older generation so desperate for grandchildren that they had lost their minds? If Aunt Berqi was only trying to ensure the continuation of the Zong family line, then why not sacrifice me instead? I could bear children for the Zong family! Why force two people who don’t love each other to be together? Zong Jin didn’t like Wen at all! And Wen didn’t like Zong Jin either!
Tian Ling listened intently, her ears perked up. This was utterly shocking; to prevent Zong Jin and Wen from being together, Wu Youyou had boldly suggested bearing children for Zong Jin, which was both audacious and morally questionable.
Wu Youyou didn’t see anything wrong with her thoughts. She turned to Tian Ling and asked, “Isn’t that right? Don’t you think Aunt Berqi’s actions this time are excessive?”
Tian Ling deliberately changed the subject. “We need to hurry; otherwise, all that delicious food will be gone!”
She pulled on Wu Youyou’s arm to quicken their pace. Wu Youyou, feeling impatient, exclaimed, “Why are you acting like Fan Qinghua, only thinking about food?”
When they returned to the dining table, everyone was present except for Wen Cuizhi. As Wu Youyou ate, she expressed her emotions openly, making sure everyone could see her displeasure.
Zong Zeyu glanced at Wu Youyou and said teasingly, “Why don’t you just throw your chopsticks at Zong Jin’s face?”
Wu Youyou was filled with frustration. “I just don’t understand what Aunt Berqi is thinking!”
Zong Zeyu replied, “Your Aunt Berqi is simply considering things that Zong Jin is too shy to think about.”
Zong Jin cleared his throat deliberately and stood up. “Alright, I hope everyone enjoyed the meal. By the way, we’re all staying at Seaside Hotel tonight. The rooms are already booked; just bring your ID.”
Fan Qinghua and Tian Ling both looked surprised.
Tong Le had initially planned to return to her apartment but seeing Tian Ling’s eager expression made her reluctant to leave alone and let Tian Ling feel abandoned.
So Tong Le decided to stay with everyone at Seaside Hotel. After all, she and Ke Wenjie were already living separately; no one should interfere with each other’s lives.
Once everyone finished eating and left the cruise ship, they were greeted by a stunning seaside view. Even though it was night, many people were still running and playing along the shore.
As they strolled by the sea, the ocean breeze was moist and gentle. At that moment, Wen walked side by side with Zong Jin. They didn’t speak but moved in surprising harmony, seemingly enjoying the tranquility of the moment.
Suddenly, Fan Qinghua ran in front of Wen and blocked her path. “Are you free tomorrow? I have a day off; how about we go see an exhibition together?”
Wen was about to decline when Zong Jin stepped in front of Fan Qinghua, effectively rejecting the offer on her behalf. “She’s not free tomorrow or the day after,” he stated firmly.
Turning back to Wen, he asked softly, “Right?”
Wen didn't want to pay attention to anyone and turned to head toward the hotel lobby. The more Fan Qinghua looked at Zong Jin, the more irritated he felt. However, he couldn't say much; after all, Zong Jin was the older brother of Zong Zeyu. With a sense of disappointment, Fan Qinghua left.
