Tong Le couldn't help but scoff. "It's just a trip out of town. Why are you so worried? If you're that suspicious, why don't you just come back and keep an eye on me? You can watch me every day to see if I'm really cheating."
Ke Jie was taken aback. He felt as if Tong Le had been possessed; nothing she said or did seemed normal!
"You wait until I finish getting the money, then I'll take you to see a doctor. You're not mentally stable right now; something's wrong with your mind!"
He continued, "You must be crazy! Suddenly looking for an auditing office, suddenly investigating my assets, and now you're going mad and firing my employees! Tong Le, if you're not mentally ill, then you really have someone else outside! I have reasonable doubts that the child in your belly isn't mine!"
Tong Le casually replied, "Yes, you're absolutely right! It's not yours!"
With that, she hung up the phone.
Tong Le strode confidently toward Zong Group, feeling exhilarated. She imagined Ke Jie’s frantic expression; the tides had turned, and from now on, it would be Ke Jie who suffered!
Upon entering the Zong Group building, she took care of business first by delivering the collaboration documents to the project manager before wandering into the lobby.
She deliberately glanced at Lan Qingqing's desk but found it empty. Just as she was wondering about it, Wu Youyou appeared behind her.
Wu Youyou leaned in and whispered, "Lan Qingqing didn't come today. Apparently, her mother passed away, and she's busy with the funeral arrangements."
Tong Le raised an eyebrow. "He Shui Xian is dead? That’s surprising! The last time I accompanied Lan Qingqing to take Aunt He for a check-up, the doctor said she could live for another seven or eight years based on her current condition."
Wu Youyou casually remarked, "Well, it must be Lan Qingqing who caused it; she's ruthless enough."
Tong Le didn’t dwell on it. She looked down the corridor where a crowd had gathered—dozens of young men and women in dark suits lined up along one side.
Wu Youyou explained, "There’s a large-scale interview today; the company is short-staffed and hiring for various positions!"
Tong Le asked, "What about Zong Zeyu? Is he busy?"
Wu Youyou teased, "No matter how busy he is, if he knows you're here, he’ll drop everything."
Tong Le laughed. "Then I won’t disturb him. Can I observe your interview process? I’d like to learn a bit."
Wu Youyou linked her arm with Tong Le's. "Of course! Coming here is like coming home; feel free to look around."
Wu Youyou then asked playfully, "Are you planning to hire for Tongshan Real Estate? It looks like you're about to reclaim control of the company."
Taking advantage of Wu Youyou's privilege, Tong Le entered the interview room. Inside sat a row of leaders—six or seven people—indicating that this recruitment task was quite significant.
Wu Youyou pulled two chairs over, and the two of them quietly sat behind the leaders, learning about the interview process.
Soon, a familiar figure walked into the room. Tong Le thought she must be mistaken; she stared at the person's face for a while before recognizing her as Zhou Ting, the younger sister of Wen's ex-boyfriend.
Zhou Ting was here to apply at Zong Group? Tong Le clearly remembered that Zhou Ting's dream was to obtain a lawyer's license and work as a clerk.
Tong Le whispered to Wu Youyou, "Is your Legal Department hiring too?"
Wu Youyou shook her head. "I’m not sure. Even if they are hiring, it’s probably just for menial tasks."
Tong Le gestured, "This is Zhou Ting, Wen's ex-boyfriend's sister."
Wu Youyou immediately became curious. She requested Zhou Ting's personal information from the leaders and flipped through it.
Wu Youyou whispered, "Her resume is pretty average, but she has received many scholarships. Although I really dislike Wen, I won’t be like Lan Qingqing and sabotage her behind her back."
Wu Youyou tossed Zhou Ting's resume aside. "Let fate decide; it’s up to her abilities now."
At that moment, Tong Le received a WeChat message from a private investigator. It contained three photos showing Jin Feng, Ke Wei Qiang's concubine, visiting her daughter at a university.
Tong Le zoomed in on the pictures of Jin Feng and her daughter. The two looked quite alike; however, Jin Feng had an honest appearance while her daughter seemed sharp-witted. With a ponytail and a tall, slender frame, she looked like a ballet dancer at first glance.
The private investigator mentioned that Jin Feng's daughter was named Jin Zi Meng and was currently in her senior year of college. Jin Zi Meng took after her mother’s surname, and Jin Feng doted on her daughter very much.
Tong Le replied with a thank you message just as she received another message from Jiang Zhichao. Coincidentally, today was Zong Group's centralized recruitment interview day, and the HR manager from Tongshan Real Estate was also sorting through recruitment information.
Jiang Zhichao sent several resumes and said, "Sister Tong, the HR manager asked me to send these to you. She has filtered out a few suitable candidates and is preparing to schedule interviews for next week. Let me know what you think."
Jiang Zhichao continued gossiping, "I suspect that after Zhou Dahai's incident today, everyone from Si Li is starting to rally around you since they know the department is about to undergo changes. Even the HR manager is beginning to inquire about your hiring preferences."
Tong Le replied, "That’s a bit ridiculous; of course we should hire capable people! How can we recruit based on the leaders' preferences?"
Jiang Zhichao explained, "It's not surprising. Just think about those people hired by Ke Jie; they were either big-chested or big-bottomed or just sycophants who only knew how to flatter others. The HR manager is sharp enough to see through all that!"
Tong Le said, "I’ll take a look at these resumes now and get back to you shortly."
As she opened the resumes one by one, she felt that the photo on the third resume looked increasingly familiar—as if she had just met this person recently.
Suddenly realizing something, Tong Le quickly opened the photo of Jin Zi Meng sent by the private investigator; it turned out to be the same person.
Jin Feng's daughter, Jin Zi Meng, had applied for a position at Tongshan Real Estate.
