With a forced smile, I was just about to compliment you on how sweet your words have become, less biting than before, when you revealed your true self once again.
Continuing to walk ahead, have you ever considered that among those women, there might be someone who genuinely likes you? Don't you want to experience a proper romance and pursue marriage? Why are you so intent on lingering behind me? If you understood my marriage, you might develop a fear of commitment in the future.
Hou Yi circled in front of Tong Le, walking backward to face her. "You're such a good girl, but not really that good. I can't quite say what I like about you; maybe it's your indifference towards me? Or perhaps it's because you saved my life?"
Tong Le replied, "Then you're definitely the first person I've met who repays kindness with malice!"
She added, "And I'm not a good girl or a virtuous woman. I've cheated on my husband, framed him, and even hit my mother-in-law. I sometimes go crazy and tell lies; I'm always in a state of battle, never at ease."
Hou Yi continued to walk backward, his gaze fixed on Tong Le. As he was about to step off the curb, she initially hesitated to warn him. However, seeing that he was completely oblivious to the ground beneath him, she had no choice but to reach out and grab his arm.
"Stop!" she exclaimed.
In that instant, Tong Le reached out intending to grasp Hou Yi's arm, but he deliberately extended his hand toward her. The moment their hands touched, Hou Yi attempted to pull her into an embrace. Quick on her feet, Tong Le used the bouquet of roses in her hand to smash it into his face, sending him tumbling off the curb and landing hard on the ground.
Tong Le stood by the roadside while Hou Yi sat next to the drainage ditch. Passersby chuckled at the scene as the roses fell to the ground, petals scattering everywhere.
Hou Yi's face turned red with embarrassment. In all his life experiences, he had never pursued such a difficult woman! After finally managing to hold her hand—so soft and delicate—he thought he could embrace her smoothly. Instead, he ended up on the ground! Half of his backside landed in the drainage ditch! What an experience!
Taking a deep breath, he tried to calm himself. Sitting there without moving, his dignity as a man was shattered. No woman should make it this hard for him just to hold hands! Since he started chasing girls, they had always been the ones reaching out for him; he was usually the one resisting. This was the first time someone had pushed him into a drainage ditch!
Tong Le called out to Hou Yi, "Get up! Can't you see you're sitting in a ditch?"
She stepped closer and asked teasingly if he had hurt his backside or if it had split open. Did he need help?
Hou Yi pushed himself up with his arms and stood up, brushing off the dirt from his pants while avoiding Tong Le's gaze.
Unable to hold back her laughter, she said, "Feeling embarrassed now? You won't be able to take advantage of me anymore?"
Tong Le lectured him further: "So from now on, you need to behave yourself. When interacting with girls, you must follow the rules and respect them. Also, don’t modify your car recklessly; be responsible for your own safety! If you really want to make changes, do it legally and properly—register it and follow the law! Be responsible for others as well as for yourself."
Picking up the fallen roses from the ground, she carefully arranged them and said with compassion, "The meaning of roses is serious; don’t give them casually to girls. True feelings are precious and rare; if you give them too often, they will lose their value."
