Sometimes, Zong Zeyu felt quite helpless. Facing his straightforward brother, Zong Jin, he found it impossible to help or not help. In Zong Jin's eyes, aside from making money and running a business, he was clueless about everything else.
After some thought, Zong Zeyu figured out a breakthrough. He suggested that they should consider what Wen needed the most right now and approach it from there.
Zong Jin bluntly stated, "Money. With her personality, if I give her money, she wouldn't accept it."
Zong Zeyu forced a polite smile, nearly driven mad by his brother's simplicity. "Who said to just give her money? I mean you should help her earn money and build her career! Isn't this the perfect opportunity? Use your strengths to assist her, and she will see you in a new light."
Zong Jin's eyes lit up as if a new world had opened up before him; this was indeed a very solid approach.
With an innocent expression, Zong Jin looked at Zong Zeyu and asked, "So how should I help?"
Zong Zeyu paused for two seconds, realizing he couldn't stay in Zong Jin's office any longer; otherwise, he might be driven to stupidity by his brother.
He picked up the acquisition plan for Tongshan Real Estate and turned to leave. "You stay single for now; don't drag Wen into this. I'm going to the Legal Department to handle the contract."
As Zong Zeyu walked out of the office, Zong Jin shouted after him, "You haven't explained everything clearly! Let's discuss it in detail tonight!"
Zong Zeyu headed towards the Legal Department, thinking about getting the acquisition contract done as soon as possible and moving forward with the acquisition of Tongshan Real Estate. He was racing against time and also competing with Ke Wenjie.
In the Legal Department's office, Zong Zeyu found the department head who happened to be interviewing a new employee, Zhou Ting.
At first, Zong Zeyu didn't recognize Zhou Ting; his mind was solely focused on the acquisition until Zhou Ting called out his name. He turned around and paused for a moment before offering a polite smile.
Zong Zeyu briefly explained the situation to the department head, who nodded eagerly and said, "This is such a small matter; you could have just called me directly! Don’t worry; I’ll get back to you before the end of the day."
As Zong Zeyu turned to leave, he glanced at Zhou Ting. Immediately, the department head showed great insight and quickly explained, "This is Zong Zeyu; I'm interviewing a new employee. Our department has been quite busy lately with insufficient staff."
Zong Zeyu replied simply, "I know Zhou Ting; I arranged for her to come here."
He then turned back to the department head and advised, "Don’t give her too complicated tasks. If you're short on people, just ask HR for more staff; they will help you recruit suitable candidates. If Zhou Ting is here to learn, give her a quieter position so she can prepare for civil service exams during her free time without being disturbed."
The department head quickly agreed; to him, Zong Zeyu's words were like royal decrees. Upon learning that Zhou Ting had connections with Zong Zeyu, his attitude towards her became much more courteous.
As Zong Zeyu stepped out of the office, Zhou Ting followed him into the hallway.
"Zong Zeyu! Wait a moment!" she called out.
Zhou Ting approached him and said sincerely, "Thank you for your kindness. I'm not here to enjoy life but to work and earn money. Learning legal knowledge is one aspect; I also need practical experience. Moreover, I want to prove my abilities. Don’t worry; I will focus on my work during office hours and won't prepare for civil service exams while on duty."
Zong Zeyu didn’t respond immediately. He observed Zhou Ting’s proud demeanor, which was reminiscent of Wen’s; after all, they were family with similarly strong personalities.
He smiled slightly and said, "Being overly serious and blindly following rules isn’t always correct. You should take advantage of available resources; this might be your first lesson in entering the workplace."
With that said, he turned and left without giving Zhou Ting another chance to speak.
The words caught in her throat, and Zhou Ting felt a twinge of frustration. Originally, she had intended to express herself clearly to Zong Zeyu, but she hadn’t anticipated that he would say something like that to her.
Taking a deep breath, she realized that her lack of experience in the professional world was evident; navigating this workplace was something she needed to learn gradually.
Zhou Ting pulled out her phone and sent a WeChat message to Wen: "Sister, did you give Xiao Zong Zong a heads-up? Just now, Xiao Zong Zong told our department leader to take special care of me, not letting me do any heavy work, allowing me to study for exams while working at the company. But I don’t want this kind of privilege; I genuinely came here to work hard and gain experience."
Wen replied, "You’re overthinking it. I don’t even support your decision to join Zong Group; I couldn’t care less about giving you a heads-up. It’s definitely Zong Zeyu who feels sorry for you and talked to your department leader. Just take your time learning the ropes in the workplace; there will come a day when you regret it! You’re a good candidate for an exam position, yet you insist on going to a big corporation to suffer. I can’t help you with that!"
Meanwhile, at the bar, Wen and Zhou Zishuo had just finished tidying up the place. The two stood outside the entrance, gazing at the blazing sun.
