Warm kisses, filled with unreserved affection, caught Zong Zeyu by surprise. He had never imagined that Tong Le would express her feelings for him one day. After seven years of unrequited love, the mutual feelings overwhelmed him, leaving him dizzy with joy.
The applause from the crowd echoed around them as Tong Le's heart raced. This was her first moment of such bravery; it felt like a dream, as if she were floating. She barely had time to savor the kiss before turning the page on her past. In the future, she would live well and love wholeheartedly; she would no longer be weak or allow herself to lose anything. Everything would become clear and straightforward.
The scattered roses on the ground were carefully collected by Zong Zeyu's staff, each stem reassembled and placed in a vase prominently displayed in his office.
Throughout the day, Zong Zeyu held Tong Le's hand tightly. Except for when he needed to use the men's restroom, wherever he went, he insisted on having Tong Le by his side. He couldn't bear to be apart from her for even a minute; he wanted to shout to the world that his wife had confessed her feelings to him—what a source of pride!
For the first time, Zong Zeyu felt that life was worthwhile and fulfilling in a way that surpassed even closing billion-dollar deals.
In the office, Zong Zeyu sat at his desk, his right hand controlling the mouse while his left held Tong Le's hand. She sat beside him, unable to move an inch, looking helplessly at Wen, who was sitting on the sofa.
Wen smiled awkwardly and shrugged her shoulders, mouthing that she couldn't help.
Tong Le turned to Zong Jin, who was standing nearby reviewing documents, seeking assistance.
Zong Jin didn't intend to help; instead, he felt envious. He glanced at his own hand and then at Wen's. He didn't even have a proper boyfriend status with her yet. If only he could hold Wen's hand—even for just a day—he would be thrilled.
Noticing Zong Jin staring at her, Wen thought she had never seen such an awkward man when it came to relationships. She shot him a fierce glare.
Zong Jin immediately looked away and pretended to focus on the documents in his hands.
Tong Le finally gave up on seeking help from others. She sighed quietly for what felt like the hundredth time and urged Zong Zeyu again, "Do we really have to hold hands? Don’t you think it’s inconvenient? My palms are sweating."
Zong Zeyu tightened his grip even more, eyes glued to the computer screen. "I don't think it's inconvenient; I just haven't held your hand enough."
Tong Le exclaimed in frustration, "Then how long do you plan to hold my hand before you let go?"
Zong Zeyu turned his head slightly and looked at her with affectionate eyes. "After seven years of waiting for this moment, how can I let go now?"
Wen could no longer bear the sight and stood up. "I can't take this anymore! It's hot out here; I'm getting goosebumps! I'm leaving."
Zong Jin quickly followed her.
Wen turned back and asked, "Why are you following me? Are you going to the women's restroom too?"
Usually decisive and assertive, Zong Jin felt his face flush with embarrassment. Whenever he faced Wen, he felt utterly small and insignificant—even though he had invested in her factory and supported her entrepreneurial endeavors; he still couldn't earn any warmth from her.
As Wen left the office, Zong Jin felt as wilted as a frostbitten eggplant.
Zong Zeyu called out to Zong Jin, "Call Mom and tell her we’re having dinner at home tonight. Bring Tong Le along."
Zong Jin hung his head low, automatically tuning out Zong Zeyu's words.
"Brother!" Zong Zeyu exclaimed loudly, "Are you listening to me?"
Zong Jin remained dazed, like a fool lost in thought.
Zong Zeyu sighed, "Wen is back!"
Zong Jin quickly lifted his head and looked towards the office door, which was tightly shut, revealing nothing.
His eyes filled with helplessness as he turned to Zong Zeyu.
Zong Zeyu felt completely at a loss with Zong Jin.
Tong Le whispered, "Does your brother have some emotional issues? Every time Wen is around, he just shuts down like a malfunctioning machine, acting like an idiot."
Zong Zeyu casually replied, "Then why don't you introduce him to someone else? Let him give up on Wen, that stubborn rock."
Tong Le shook his head. "I don’t have anyone around who is worthy of Zong Jin. I used to think that men at your level never lack for women, but now I realize that no woman dares to pursue you guys. After all, you're just too outstanding."
Zong Zeyu felt a bit smug as he continued working on the computer. "I do have women pursuing me."
