In the corridor outside the bedroom, Tong Le and Zong Zeyu stood against the wall, maintaining silence as they awaited Zong Jin inside. Ten minutes later, the door opened. 0

Zong Jin stepped out of the room, his expression relatively calm. He closed the door behind him and headed downstairs, with Tong Le and Zong Zeyu hurriedly following. Tong Le quietly asked, "How did it go? Did you talk it out? How is Wu Youyou doing? Has she calmed down?" 0

Zong Jin remained silent. Beneath his composed exterior lay a tangle of confusion and frustration; he felt like a failure, especially in matters of the heart. 0

Tong Le and Zong Zeyu followed Zong Jin into the kitchen, where he decided to cook a bowl of noodles for Wu Youyou. Zong Zeyu moved beside him, seriousness etched on his face. "What exactly did you two discuss? Has Wu Youyou come to terms with things? Should I have my secretary book a flight for you both to get away tomorrow?" 0

After a long pause while boiling water, Zong Jin finally spoke. "Wu Youyou thinks that I and Dao Wen are the root cause of this disaster. If it weren't for my desire to be with Dao Wen, she wouldn't have gone out drinking at night and wouldn’t have had to endure all this pain." 0

Zong Zeyu struggled to understand this logic. "How can she think that? What does your relationship with Dao Wen have to do with it? Being drugged and hurt is something you and Dao Wen could control?" 0

Zong Jin fell silent again, the facade of calmness slipping away entirely. His brow furrowed tightly, revealing his inner turmoil. He stirred the noodles with pain etched across his face, watching as the water boiled violently—much like his chaotic emotions at that moment. 0

Seeing Zong Jin's silence ignited Zong Zeyu's frustration. "You can't seriously accept what she said! Are you just trying to placate her? Taking the blame for something that isn’t your fault? Since Wu Yutong passed away, you've coddled Wu Youyou too much, which has led to her spoiled behavior. And now you're going so far as to ignore right from wrong just to appease her?" 0

Still, Zong Jin said nothing. Tong Le stepped in and pulled Zong Zeyu aside. 0

Tong Le understood Zong Jin's pain: it stemmed from both concern and guilt over Wu Youyou, as well as remorse for his late ex-wife—after all, she was deeply loved. Wu Youyou was also the only gift left to him by his ex-wife; not being able to protect that gift caused him immense suffering. 0

As for Wu Youyou, it was true that she had been spoiled, as Zong Zeyu pointed out. However, trying to correct her behavior now seemed too late. 0

Tong Le turned back to the silent Zong Jin and spoke up. "Wu Youyou likes you—not in a familial way but in a romantic sense. You should be able to sense that, right?" 0

Zong Jin paused for a moment; perhaps he had sensed it before but instinctively dismissed it. After all, she was his ex-wife’s sister—his own sister—and he had never considered her in that light seriously. 0

However, just moments ago in Wu Youyou's bedroom, he had clearly felt her feelings for him transcending what he had previously thought. 0

Silence was an answer in itself; Tong Le recognized Zong Jin's tacit agreement. 0

He continued, "Once this storm passes, you really should maintain some distance from Wu Youyou. This situation is not just about you and Dao Wen." 0

Zong Jin added seasonings to the pot before speaking again. "Could you help me serve the noodles upstairs later? Tonight, I need you to keep her company while Zeyu and I stay in our room with her; Tong Le has sleep issues and can't be there." 0

Zong Jin turned off the gas and politely addressed Tong Le. "Thank you for your help tonight." 0

He poured steaming noodles into a bowl before turning to leave. 0

Tong Le looked at the steaming bowl quietly sighing. 0

Zong Zeyu stood to the side, feeling a hint of regret that the Zong Family was staying overnight, but not to accompany him. 0

At this moment, Tong Le, who had no husband to attend to her, looked at Zong Zeyu with curiosity. "Don't you think Zong Jin is strange? I have this feeling that he is brewing a tendency for self-destruction, but I can't quite put it into words." 0

Zong Zeyu replied, "I'll go find Tong Le and prepare a set of sleepwear and toiletries for you." 0

The next morning, the first thing Zong Zeyu did after getting up was to dash over to Wu Youyou's room. The bedroom door was wide open, and inside, Wu Youyou was still sprawled on the bed, sleeping soundly. Zong Zeyu stood at the doorway and looked around but didn’t see Tong Le. 0

Soon enough, Tong Le appeared in front of Zong Zeyu with a toothbrush in her mouth, toothpaste bubbles clinging to her lips. She mumbled, "What’s up? Looking for me?" 0

Seeing Tong Le, Zong Zeyu's anxious heart quickly settled down. He instinctively reached out to wipe the toothpaste foam from her mouth and reminded her, "Come with me to Zong Shi Yan Tuan today. We need to finalize the contract with the Distillery." 0
