Zong Jin loved eating rice more than anything else, even insisting on having an extra bowl of rice when enjoying hot pot. If he had to eat rice in a diluted form in the future, he might as well not live at all. 0

However, at this moment, his attention was not on rice. His heart raced uncontrollably, beating so fast that he felt he might suffocate. It was as if his heart had jumped into his brain, dancing wildly in the narrow confines of his mind, and he felt faint. 0

To him, Wen's words were nothing short of a bold confession! She wanted to be with him; he wasn’t dense—he understood! 0

He longed to agree right away. He wanted to date her, to be with her; he didn’t want to have to dilute his rice. 0

But he had promised Wu Youyou that he would stay by her side and give her the sense of security she needed. 0

Reality clashed with his dreams, and the overwhelming sense of unworthiness that had swept over him last night plunged him back into pain and turmoil. 0

Fortunately, Wen Cuizhi had been eavesdropping intently. She was grateful for the loud volume of the phone receiver, which allowed her to catch every fragmented word. Though she was a bit clumsy, her ears were still sharp—she couldn’t miss any important information! 0

Wen Cuizhi knew what Zong Jin was struggling with; she absolutely could not let this potential daughter-in-law slip away! She tiptoed and snatched Zong Jin’s phone from his hands. 0

Holding the phone tightly, she began to pace around the luxurious hall, no matter how much Zong Jin chased after her. Her only goal was to keep that phone secure and prevent Zong Jin from speaking again! 0

“Wen, it’s me,” she said into the microphone. 0

On the other end of the line, Wen immediately heard Wen Cuizhi’s polite tone. “Auntie! What is it?” 0

Wen Cuizhi, fearing an awkward silence, lightened the mood with some teasing. “Wenwen, Zong Jin said he doesn’t want diluted rice anymore, which means he wants to continue being with you. Do you understand?” 0

There was silence on both ends of the call. Wen Cuizhi felt a bit awkward; “diluted rice” was indeed a crude expression. But at this critical moment, what mattered more than anything else was not diluting rice but securing a marriage! 0

“Just give Zong Jin some time,” Wen Cuizhi continued earnestly. “He really likes you! But there are big issues at home right now. I don’t know if Zong Jin or Tong Le have mentioned Wu Youyou to you. Zong Jin sees Wu Youyou as a younger sister or even a daughter; he can’t bear to see her suffer. Trust me; I can’t bear it either! So I genuinely hope you can work things out with Zong Jin. He’s a bit stubborn and doesn’t know how to date properly; he needs someone as thoughtful and caring as you by his side. He’s great in many ways but tends to make wrong decisions because of his strong emotions. Can you give him two more days? Once he sorts out things at home and we manage Wu Youyou’s feelings, I’ll personally drive him over so that you can apologize.” 0

Wen Cuizhi’s words made Wen feel guilty; she had only intended to threaten Zong Jin but hadn’t meant to involve Auntie. 0

“I’m sorry, Auntie,” Wen said awkwardly. “I didn’t mean to trouble you.” 0

“You’re going to be my future daughter-in-law; there’s no such thing as trouble,” Wen Cuizhi replied confidently. “Arguments between couples can be resolved easily. If Zong Jin said something rude or abrupt, just consider it nonsense; I’m in charge here! He doesn’t get to dictate anything!” 0

Wen chuckled softly. “I understand now, Auntie. I’ll wait for him and give him time and space.” 0

After their conversation wrapped up, Wen Cuizhi hung up and stopped in her tracks, turning around just as Zong Jin stood right in front of her. 0

He extended his hand towards her. “You shouldn’t make decisions for me without my consent.” 0

Wen Cuizhi tossed the phone into Zong Jin’s palm with a playful glare. “Stop acting cool! You’re secretly pleased right now, aren’t you? The words you’re too shy to say yourself came out through my mouth! I’ve never begged anyone in my life! For your and your brother’s marriage matters, I’ve even grown three new wrinkles!” 0

She touched the corners of her eyes with a frown. “My once dignified image has been ruined by you two brats! The medical aesthetics project I just did is now wasted!” 0

Wen Cuizhi warned Zong Jin sternly, “If you dare speak nonsense to Wen again, I’ll throw both you and your brother out of the house! We’ll sever our mother-son relationship!” 0

Wen Cuizhi turned and headed upstairs, while Zong Jin spoke up, "This has nothing to do with Zeyu." 0

Wen Cuizhi grumbled under her breath, feeling exasperated by the complicated feelings between her two sons. This was what they called collective punishment! From now on, you two will be punished together for any wrongdoing! 0

Zong Jin looked down at his phone in his palm, his restless heart gradually calming down. His mother had solved a major problem for him; his usually inarticulate mouth had almost ruined everything. Yet, he still felt confused, caught between Wen and Wu Youyou—no matter how he chose, it felt wrong. 0

Meanwhile, at the Wen family home. 0

Wen hung up the phone, and Tong Le approached with a gleam in her eyes. "So you're willing to give Zong Jin a chance? Are you starting to have feelings for him?" 0

Wen poured herself a glass of wine and scoffed, "I just think he's not a bad person. It would be a shame to let this opportunity slip away. He’s someone you could manage a life with." 0

Tong Le chuckled softly, "I thought you were done with him. It seems you still have some interest." 0
