After stepping out, Ke Wenjie tidied up the house a bit. He stood in front of the wardrobe, which was filled with various suits and casual outfits that Ying Rong Xiao had bought for him. The rows of high-end clothing were organized by color, each set worth around a hundred thousand, brands he would never have considered buying before.
He remembered the day the delivery from the clothing store arrived at his door, with outfits coming in as if they were wholesale. The clothes Ying Rong Xiao had chosen for him were stylish and fitted perfectly. Although he was reluctant to be dependent on someone else and be supported in this way, he had to admit that this lifestyle was comfortable—something many people secretly yearned for but wouldn’t openly admit.
He selected an outfit to wear out and admired himself in the mirror. Wearing glasses, he snapped a selfie and sent it to Ying Rong Xiao with a message: "The clothes fit perfectly, even better than the casual suits I used to buy. I really like them; thank you!"
Ying Rong Xiao replied, "I told you, no one understands you better than I do. Everything you want, Tong Le cannot provide for you. Go out and relax; I've added an extra hundred thousand to your card for this month's grocery expenses. Feel free to take any car from the garage; the keys to the sports car are hanging by the door—it hasn’t been driven in a while."
Feeling satisfied, Ke Wenjie left his home and headed straight to the underground garage. Naturally, he chose to drive the Rolls Royce—his ultimate dream was to sit behind the wheel of that car. Once inside, he enjoyed the experience from the driver’s seat but soon moved to the back seat to savor it even more.
He thought about how wonderful it would be to have a personal driver one day; after all, most people who owned such cars didn’t drive them themselves.
Ke Wenjie drove his beloved car out of the garage, heading towards a large supermarket in the city center. He planned to buy some fruits and vegetables at Imported Supermarket, aiming to get the best ingredients to please Ying Rong Xiao.
He knew exactly what Ying Rong Xiao wanted. Now that he was down on his luck and at a low point in life, he decided to play the role of a servant to a wealthy woman in exchange for more benefits.
Upon arriving at Imported Supermarket, Ke Wenjie pushed a shopping cart as he browsed through the products alone. Young women passing by couldn’t help but glance at him; after all, dressed in expensive designer clothes and knowing how to present himself well, Ke Wenjie understood how to attract attention. He deliberately tossed his car keys onto the small rack of the shopping cart so that anyone nearby would notice.
He only picked imported ingredients, and during this process, a beautiful young woman approached him asking if they could add each other on WeChat. Ke Wenjie naturally welcomed her request, added her on WeChat with a polite nod, and continued shopping.
He thoroughly enjoyed this feeling of being admired; after all, no one knew where his money came from or that his Rolls Royce was borrowed.
At that moment, Ke Wenjie’s vanity peaked. Just as he was feeling confident, his gaze fell upon two familiar figures—Tong Le and Dao Wen.
At that moment, Tong Le was pushing her shopping cart filled with eco-friendly bags she had used for years. She was checking the prices of each item; perhaps they were too expensive as she picked things up only to put them back down again before finally deciding to add them to her cart.
Ke Wenjie instantly felt uneasy; the confidence he had just built crumbled upon seeing familiar faces. He instinctively wanted to escape but was called out by Dao Wen just as he turned.
"Ke Wenjie?"
The three of them met awkwardly—the one who felt most out of place being Ke Wenjie himself. He forced himself to maintain composure and straightened his back; he couldn’t afford to lose face now.
Dao Wen looked up and down at Ke Wenjie, opening her mouth in surprise. "Wow, all designer brands? Is this for real?"
She glanced at the car keys in the shopping cart, her voice growing louder. "Whoa! A Rolls Royce! Seriously? Have you struck it rich? What kind of illegal dealings have you been involved in to make so much money in such a short time?"
Tong Le stood behind Dao Wen, observing Ke Wenjie, the car keys, and her well-fitted casual suit. She wasn't sure what brand the clothes were, but the quality of the fabric was excellent. As for the car keys, they seemed genuine.
Tong Le began to feel puzzled as well. Normally, Ke Wenjie should be broke and down on her luck, yet here she was looking so carefree and stylish after such a short time.
Pushing the shopping cart, Ke Wenjie deliberately walked over to Tong Le's side and taunted, "You’re going to regret this! Do you really think that just because you’re with Zong Zeyu, you can leap across social classes? You should take a good look at whether you’re worthy of it! Tong Le, I will become incredibly wealthy—richer than Zong Zeyu! And then, you'll come crying back to me!"
Tong Le certainly wouldn't indulge Ke Wenjie. She casually grabbed a bottle of milk from the shopping cart, twisted off the cap, and splashed it onto Ke Wenjie's expensive clothes.
Seeing this, Dao Wen quickly followed suit. She opened a bottle of sticky orange juice and threw it right at Ke Wenjie's face.
Tong Le and Dao Wen burst into laughter while Ke Wenjie stood there in a frenzy.
