Wen's aggressive questioning left Hou Yi feeling quite annoyed. Although he appreciated a woman who posed a challenge, too much of a challenge was simply tiresome. He pushed Wen's hand away and replied coldly with a smirk, "How would I know why he has your photo? I have no idea about any of your questions, got it?"
As he turned to leave, Wen blocked his path. "You need to clarify what you mean!" At that moment, Wen was beyond caring about anything else. Even if she was seen as crazy, she just wanted to know who the person Hou Yi mentioned was. Panic gripped her heart; she feared that the answer she would receive might be unbearable.
In this world, the only person who could have her photo on his phone and also be in the military was her once-beloved man, Zhou Feng. But Zhou Feng was dead; she had handled the funeral arrangements herself. A person who had passed away could not suddenly come back to life.
Despite the glimmer of hope brewing in her heart, she knew that such hope was faint.
Hou Yi was getting fed up and warned her, "If you keep bothering me, I'll call security. You're supposed to be someone close to Zong Jin; isn't it inappropriate to create a scene here?"
Wen's emotions were getting the better of her, and her voice involuntarily rose. "What does that soldier look like? Which border are you talking about? Who is he?"
Wen nearly shouted, drawing the attention of those around them.
Not far away, Tong Le heard the commotion and hurried over to Wen's side as she rummaged through her bag for her phone.
Tong Le lowered her voice and scolded Hou Yi, "What are you doing? Didn't we say not to cause trouble? How can you argue here?"
Hou Yi feigned innocence. "Hey, I didn't do anything! She just suddenly went crazy and came looking for trouble. I haven't done anything from start to finish!" He raised his hands in protest. "Let the surveillance cameras testify!"
At that moment, Wen found her phone. She opened Zhou Feng's photo and held it out in front of Hou Yi with an anxious expression. "Is this him? The soldier you saw—was it him?"
Hou Yi was genuinely irritated and didn't even glance at the photo on the screen. He was already angry and felt no obligation to answer Wen's questions.
Tong Le grabbed Wen's arm, trying to pull her away, but Wen refused to budge. She held the phone up in front of Hou Yi, forcing him to look at it.
With no other option, Tong Le turned to Hou Yi and urged him, "Just take a look and answer her."
Reluctantly, Hou Yi glanced at the phone screen. After examining it closely for a moment, he replied, "Yes, that's him. Can I leave now?"
In the next instant, Wen felt her legs go weak. She clutched Tong Le's arm for support, leaning against her as she lost all strength.
Tong Le took Wen's phone and saw Zhou Feng's photo on the screen.
Frowning in confusion, Tong Le asked Hou Yi, "What is going on here?"
Hou Yi pointed at the phone. "The man in this picture—I've met him briefly; he knows your friend. It seems your friend knows him too."
He chuckled casually. "So what's this? The ever-cool Miss Wen has been deceived by a scoundrel?"
"Shut up!" Tong Le snapped at Hou Yi, her voice sharp.
Processing the overwhelming information, she began to understand that Zhou Feng was not dead; he was still alive. In the past, this news would have brought her joy, but now it only left her feeling conflicted.
Holding Wen close, Tong Le whispered soothingly, "Let's verify the information first. Hou Yi is not always truthful; he might have made a mistake."
Wen remained silent.
At that moment, Zong Jin approached from a distance. Upon seeing Wen's weak state, he hurried over, concern etched on his face. "What happened? Are you feeling unwell?"
He reached out to support her. "I'll take her to the hospital."
