Zong Jin looked at Zong Zeyu with disdain. "When did you become so irritating?" 0

Zong Zeyu turned his head away, the longing gaze he had just directed at his wife now replaced by a cold indifference. He looked at Zong Jin, who seemed as uninviting as yesterday's lukewarm water, and lost all interest. "You weren't any better when you were chasing Dao Wen." 0

He turned and walked toward the exit, grumbling under his breath about how he had to deal with this work piled up in these two months. Why did it have to wait until his wife went on a trip? He was still a lifelong bachelor himself and didn’t understand why he had to be dragged into this mess. 0

Zong Jin, feeling unjustly accused, hurried after him. "What nonsense are you babbling about? How am I a lifelong bachelor? I was about to get married until Zhou Feng suddenly barged in and messed up my plans. If it weren't for the pressing matters at the company that needed urgent attention, I would have gone abroad with Dao Wen too. Do you think I don’t want to go abroad and be with her? I'm worried about her safety too. I want to finish my work quickly so I can catch up with her." 0

Zong Zeyu felt a headache coming on. "Listen, if you have this much energy for preaching, why not save it for Dao Wen instead of bothering me? You can't even spit out a word in front of her but here you are going on endlessly with me. I'm not your wife." 0

He strode forward, his long legs taking big strides. 0

Zong Jin, also tall, kept pace with him. As Zong Zeyu quickened his pace, he did too, continuing his tirade. "Do you think Dao Wen will reconcile with Zhou Feng? What if—just what if—that Zhou Feng's wife and child are all fake identities created for some mission? Wouldn't that mean Dao Wen would still go back to him? If you were Dao Wen, what would you choose? Would you keep waiting for Zhou Feng or give me a chance?" 0

Zong Zeyu stopped in his tracks, his ears ringing from Zong Jin's incessant chatter. He took a heavy breath, deliberately trying to irritate Zong Jin further. "I choose to go on a pilgrimage to the West." 0

Meanwhile, Tong Le and Dao Wen were waiting in the boarding area when Tong Le's phone rang—it was Jin Feng. 0

Just as she was about to answer, the call was abruptly disconnected. 0

Tong Le thought it might have been a mistake on Jin Feng's part. She initially brushed it off but then recalled what Jin Zi Meng had said during the Annual Meeting and felt a twinge of worry. 0

She called back but got no answer; it happened twice in a row. 0

Feeling uneasy since they were about to board soon, she thought that if something were wrong, it would be hard to handle. 0

Tong Le decided to call Jin Zi Meng instead. The call connected quickly. "Zi Meng, your mom just called me but hung up right away. I thought she might have dialed the wrong number, so I tried calling back twice but she didn’t pick up. Is everything okay with her?" 0

Jin Zi Meng replied, "My mom is fine; she left for work early this morning. However, she did want to meet with you; she probably called to arrange a time but got interrupted by her supervisor checking in and had to hang up in a hurry. It happened to me too when I called her earlier—there’s nothing to worry about. I’ll give her another call shortly." 0

Tong Le felt relieved. "Alright then! Since I'm not in the country right now, we’ll need to schedule another time to meet. But let’s stay in touch. By the way, if you encounter any difficulties at work or in life—especially regarding your interviews—make sure to let me know." 0

Jin Zi Meng assured her, "Don’t worry, Tong Le Jie! I understand. You don’t need to worry about things here; Jiang Zhichao is managing well and everyone is cooperating with him." 0

After hanging up the phone, Jin Zi Meng sat at her desk and tried calling Jin Feng again. The phone rang several times before being disconnected once more. 0
