The team leader found Dao Wen a bit unbelievable. "Over there is chaotic, and in your area, you need to wear a bulletproof vest. You never know when someone might grab you, especially with your looks; it's easy to attract attention. I suggest you wait in the hotel for news. As soon as we find the person, we'll drive you to meet them or bring them here to the city."
Tong Le leaned in, grabbing Dao Wen's wrist. "Just listen to her; after all, we're not familiar with this place."
Reluctantly, Dao Wen agreed, even though she was eager to see someone.
For the first three days, Tong Le and Dao Wen wandered around, enjoying the local food and culture. The area had a rich cultural atmosphere, perhaps due to its less developed state, which made life feel vibrant.
By the fifth day, Dao Wen still hadn't heard any news about Zhou Feng. The team leader brought word that there had been recent riots over there, making it impossible to conduct a thorough investigation.
A week passed quickly. Dao Wen grew restless; she had imagined countless scenarios of bumping into Zhou Feng on the street. Every time she saw a similar figure from afar, she felt compelled to check if it was him.
After a long first week came an equally long second week. During this time, Zong Zeyu and Zong Jin made two trips back and forth. Meanwhile, Dao Wen and Tong Le, unable to locate Zhou Feng, grew tired of the local cuisine and were nearly worn down by their dwindling hope.
The nights were just as lively as the days; even staying safely in the hotel, they occasionally heard gunfire outside. This country was filled with unrest.
A month and a half passed in this manner. The first to lose patience was Zong Zeyu. Upon his and Zong Jin's return to the country, he vowed to bring Tong Le back home; he couldn't stand being away from his wife any longer.
In their hotel room, Zong Zeyu circled around Tong Le, pleading multiple times. "Come home, my wife! It's been over a month—almost two! Can’t you let Zong Jin stay here with you? You've lost so much weight!"
While sipping coffee and typing on her computer, Tong Le turned her head and replied, "Are your eyes bad? I've actually gained three pounds."
Pulling up a chair next to her, Zong Zeyu asked what would happen if she couldn’t find Zhou Feng. "Will you just keep waiting?"
After thinking for a moment, Tong Le confidently replied, "We will find him!"
At that moment, her phone buzzed with a WeChat message from Hou Yi.
He sent her a location near a small town followed by a short video where he was hunting in a small grove with a rifle.
Initially skeptical, Tong Le thought it might be a prank video that Hou Yi had edited. She sent him a question mark in response.
Quickly after, he sent another video showing a tall man in camouflage hunting among the trees.
Frowning at the figure in the video, Tong Le jumped up and rushed to Dao Wen's room.
As soon as she entered, she showed the video to Dao Wen. "Isn't that Zhou Feng!?"
