Hou Yi knocked on the car window, and the door opened. Zong Zeyu made a move to get out, but Hou Yi stopped him. "Brother, don't mess around. I just informed the people inside that I'm bringing a female friend in. If you go in, neither of us will be able to leave easily."
Hou Yi reminded him, "This isn't our country; it's not a place where you can do whatever you want. Don't cause trouble."
He glanced at the disheartened Wen and knew she was out of the game. Turning to Tong Le, he gestured for her to follow. "It's fine inside. I have business dealings with them; they're all friends who can be trusted."
Tong Le prepared to get out, but Zong Zeyu reached out and grabbed her arm. She turned to reassure him, "It's really okay; you can trust me."
The team leader in the driver's seat chimed in, "It's fine as long as you have someone familiar with the area. There are rules here, and they must be followed."
Zong Zeyu had no choice but to let go. Despite his countless worries, he could only keep them to himself.
Tong Le followed Hou Yi into the heavily guarded compound. From the moment she entered through the iron gate, she felt tense all over, barely daring to breathe. She had the unsettling feeling that someone was watching her with a gun aimed at her head or that there might be a bomb hidden beneath her feet.
As they walked, Hou Yi said, "I've been here for half a month and haven't caught a single shadow. Why didn't you call me?"
Tong Le remained silent, keeping a vigilant eye on her surroundings.
Noticing her tense state, Hou Yi remarked, "True, the Zong Family is involved in legitimate business and makes clean money. How could they have connections like mine? Their earnings are all above board."
Tong Le responded, "Are you doing business with them? What kind? Is it illegal? Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Hou Yi casually replied, "If I said I came forward because I felt sorry for how hard you were working to find someone and didn't want you stuck here too long, would you believe me?"
He glanced at Tong Le's profile as they walked.
Tong Le bluntly said, "I don't believe it."
Hou Yi retorted, "You're heartless."
They reached an open area surrounded by trees that resembled a shooting range from a short video clip.
Hou Yi pointed to a tall figure not far away. "That's Zhou Feng."
Just then, a gunshot rang out, and a bird fell from the sky. Zhou Feng shouted in celebration.
Zhou Feng turned around and waved at Hou Yi, who called out loudly, "Come over! Friend!"
As Tong Le watched Zhou Feng approach closer, she whispered to Hou Yi, "Have you asked him about Wen?"
Hou Yi casually replied, "Nope, not interested. It has nothing to do with me; I'm here for you, not for Wen."
At that moment, Zhou Feng had already walked up to Tong Le, a smile on his face to show his welcome. Beside them, Hou Yi introduced, "This is my wife, Tong Le."
