Wu Youyou turned to leave, but Lan Qingqing grabbed her hair with a fierce tug. Lan Qingqing bared her teeth in frustration; that slap she had just received couldn’t go unpunished. It was only because she had momentarily lost focus that Wu Youyou, that troublemaker, had gotten the upper hand. How could she endure such humiliation?
Lan Qingqing wished she could rip Wu Youyou's head bald, but unfortunately, she had just been discharged from the hospital and lacked the strength. Even pulling hair took all her might.
Wu Youyou, on the other hand, was different. Ever since the incident at the nightclub, she had started training in boxing with Hou Yi. She had genuinely fallen in love with the sport and used it to regulate her emotions and body, allowing exercise to release endorphins and dopamine.
Now full of energy and strength, she hadn’t intended to confront Lan Qingqing head-on today. She was busy dealing with her own matters. Although getting revenge on Lan Qingqing was something she needed to do, she didn’t have time for it right now.
Wu Youyou had developed a strong ability to withstand pressure. The traumatic experience at the nightclub had almost broken her, and the news of Zong Jin’s marriage to Wen nearly led her to a reckless end. But ever since Tong Le had taken her on a leap from a seven-story building, she had completely reined herself in. She stopped acting recklessly and causing trouble. She couldn’t quite articulate what she had come to understand or see clearly; she just suddenly felt very childish, like a fool.
At this moment, Wu Youyou had pinned Lan Qingqing to the ground. Dealing with someone as weak as Lan Qingqing was effortless for her. Thinking about how far things had progressed, she decided to throw a couple more punches just to vent her frustration.
As her fist swung toward Lan Qingqing’s face, Lan Qingqing retaliated with curses, “Wu Youyou, you shameless harlot! No wonder you went through that ordeal at the nightclub! Someone like you who only knows how to use violence deserves to be toyed with by those men!”
Those words struck a nerve with Wu Youyou. She had worked hard to move past that painful chapter of her life, yet Lan Qingqing insisted on bringing it up again and again.
With a swift motion, Wu Youyou grabbed Lan Qingqing by the back of her collar. No matter how much Lan Qingqing shouted and struggled, it was futile. Wu Youyou dragged her over to the fountain and without hesitation kicked her into the water.
Lan Qingqing emerged soaked like a drowned rat. Standing beside the fountain with her hands on her hips, Wu Youyou warned, “Don’t rush it, Lan Qingqing. Your day will come.”
Wu Youyou then turned and walked into the office building while Lan Qingqing slowly crawled out of the fountain.
Fuming in place, Lan Qingqing swore she would make Wu Youyou pay.
Soaked through, she tried to hail a taxi by the roadside but found none available. Using a ride-hailing app on her phone, she found that drivers refused her request upon seeing her dripping wet appearance.
With no other option, she trudged to the nearest subway station and took the train home.
When Wu Youyou met Hou Yi, it was regarding the design and renovation of her art studio. She planned to handle the renovations herself while seeking advice from both Hou Yi and Tong Le—one specialized in construction materials while the other managed supply sources.
After obtaining the resource information she wanted from Hou Yi, Wu Youyou turned to leave but suddenly remembered something. She confronted Hou Yi at his desk, “What’s your relationship with Lan Qingqing now? I ran into her downstairs just now; she wouldn’t still have feelings for you, would she?”
Hou Yi pointed out the window and bluntly replied, “That fountain downstairs? Drunkards urinate in it at night. You really know how to pick a spot.”
Wu Youyou paused for a moment before realizing he had seen it happen; that was indeed something she did herself.
Hou Yi then asked casually, “Are you planning to take revenge on Lan Qingqing?”
Wu Youyou replied nonchalantly, “Not yet; I’m busy right now but not for long. She won’t be far from death.”
