The structure of the Gu Family Courtyard resembled a small city, with houses scattered among numerous winding paths. Even with someone leading the way, they felt utterly lost. Xiao Mei went from curiosity to anger and finally to numbness; he now thought the estate was absurdly large, and his legs felt weak from walking. 0

After a turn, the surrounding houses suddenly became orderly, three deep gray cement rooms blocking the end of the path, with only the middle wooden door opened. Inside was dark, resembling a gaping mouth waiting for their entry. 0

They were instructed to stand neatly in front of the house. Aside from Shui Su, who appeared effortlessly relaxed, the others showed clear signs of fatigue. The lab personnel entered first and tinkered with something before emerging again, carrying a pile of masks. 0

“Follow us…” The person holding up a mask hadn’t finished speaking when Shui Su had already unbound himself, coldly punching him down. The others were clearly stunned; as they reacted and tried to rush forward, they were swiftly knocked to the ground. 0

Shui Su helped everyone free themselves and instructed them to stay put. After meeting Xiao Mei's confused gaze, he smiled and ruffled the boy's hair, asking him to keep watch with the team. “Wait for me to explain when I come out.” Shui Su never did anything that would cause worry. Xiao Mei nodded in agreement, watching him step into the pitch-black doorway. 0

Meanwhile, Song Bunan’s journey was made easier by the route map he had drawn. He found a small bag of incense ash in his bag and unceremoniously sprinkled it on the drawing. After blowing it away, the raised areas became clearer as they stuck to the ash. 0

“Why do you still have incense ash?” Xin Yi asked curiously. 0

The man smiled, his eyes narrowing into slits as he explained it was just a professional habit. 0

Oh right. Xin Yi recalled that her boyfriend’s job involved helping others burn paper offerings. Every time she almost forgot about it, Song Bunan would use some odd method to remind her. Fortunately, she could now completely ignore his strange behaviors; after all, loving him meant accepting all of him, even if he was a bit eccentric. 0

Using this map and combining their memories of navigating through the building, they quickly pinpointed the exit location and planned their route. Confirming that there was nothing else they needed here, they hurried toward the operating room where the child was located. 0

The Dean's Office was actually less than thirty meters from the operating room, but due to their unfamiliarity with the terrain, it took them nearly an hour of wandering before they got any sense of direction. With the route map in hand, they reached the operating room door after only a few turns. 0

Seeing that his door was slightly ajar and hadn’t been moved, Song Bunan excitedly gestured to rush inside. Xin Yi quickly grabbed him, urging him not to act impulsively; safety was paramount. 0

“Don’t worry, it’s just the two of us in here now, along with this little one. Given his condition, he’s definitely still unconscious,” Song Bunan said, relaxing as if he were home, showing no trace of the fatigue from earlier. He quickly opened the door, calling out to the child that his superhero had arrived, and then rushed inside. 0

The child lay quietly on the Surgical Table, the bandages covering his wounds once again seeping blood. His dull yellow hair was matted to his forehead with sweat, making him look both tragic and pitiful. 0

“Do you think if we take him out and can’t find his family, he’ll be bullied at the orphanage looking like this?” Song Bunan asked as he found a new bandage and gently cradled the child’s head to change it, his tone filled with compassion for the boy. 0

Xin Yi nodded, helping him stabilize the child’s head while contemplating whether to carry him on his back or in his arms. He continued Song Bunan's thought, “With what the lab has done to him, no one would want to adopt him. His appearance will haunt him for life.” 0

“Before I saw him, I thought the lab was just filled with madmen. Now I believe they all deserve to die; none of them should live,” Song Bunan cursed under his breath, but his hands remained steady as he changed the bandage. After securing it with tape, he looked up at Xin Yi and winked, indicating that he would take responsibility for the child. 0

Already prepared, Xin Yi readily agreed to carry the boy on his back. “Let’s take him out first and see if the Jiang Family is willing to take him in. If not, if you want to keep him, I have no objections.” 0

From the moment Song Bunan held the child close, Xin Yi knew he must really like this kid. During casual conversations, Song Bunan had mentioned his views on children; he preferred slightly older ones who had their own thoughts and rationality. Even adopting a child just to be brothers would be nice. But at that time, their relationship was only just beginning to solidify; thoughts of children felt far off. 0

Now it seemed that what they thought about had come true—this child was clearly Song Bunan’s dream kid. 0

With a smile reaching his eyes, Song Bunan cheerfully admitted that he indeed had such thoughts. “But we still need to consider how he feels about us. What if he thinks we’re strange?” Thankfully, reason prevailed; Song Bunan steadied the child’s form from behind and suggested they should first get outside before considering anything else. 0

With a map in hand, finding a “proper” exit was noticeably smoother. They turned into a path they had passed countless times without noticing and after navigating through several barely visible gaps, they arrived at a hidden door. The door blended seamlessly with the wall; unless marked with a star on the map, one would never notice it while passing by. 0

The door wasn’t locked. Pushing it open revealed a dark path where visibility was nearly nonexistent. Song Bunan switched on his flashlight, noting that the map only indicated up to this door without describing what lay beyond it. They cautiously stepped out, using the flashlight's beam to navigate through the darkness. 0

This path was lined with the same light-absorbing material as the walls of Mighty Falcon's small compartment; even their flashlight couldn’t illuminate what lay ahead of them. The Purple Light offered no response either as they could only feel their way forward. 0

"These people are really outrageous," Song Bunan said, breaking the silence. "It's like they think paint is free, just slapping it on the walls. How did they even get out? Is there a secret?" 0

Xin Yi nodded lightly in response. "Maybe it's the light from other colors. Remember that machine with the colorful lights? They definitely wouldn't just use it to decode messages." 0

"True," Song Bunan replied. "With the brains of those people in the lab, they must have come up with some unconventional color to use. But did you hear that noise above us..." 0

As he spoke, the two of them instinctively stopped and held their breath to listen. Indeed, there was a faint rumbling sound coming from above. The noise was irregular, only getting slightly louder as it passed overhead, making it hard to discern anything specific. 0

"It's the road!" Song Bunan suddenly exclaimed after listening more closely. 0

They recalled the layout of the buildings inside and their positions on the map, speculating that they were currently beneath the road outside the side entrance of New Life Hospital. 0

"From the direction of the traffic, we should be across from the side entrance. Is there any signal here?" Xin Yi adjusted the child on her back, securing his legs tightly with both hands. Hearing this, Song Bunan supported the child's bottom with one hand and pulled out his communicator to start tapping away. 0

Thank goodness, there was a strong signal here. As soon as he opened his messaging app, countless messages flooded in, causing his phone to lag slightly. Among them, a group chat from the outer team stood out prominently; everyone was in a frenzy, tagging them repeatedly. 0

Song Bunan briefly explained their situation and requested some assistance. The internal technical team quickly pinpointed their location and directed them using a scanner. 0

The exit was located at a drainage outlet in an old neighborhood in the middle of the side of New Life Hospital. When Song Bunan saw a circular area where light shone through in the darkness, he became very excited and pointed it out to Xin Yi, exclaiming loudly that they were perfect examples of what it meant to be frogs at the bottom of a well! 0

Xin Yi remained silent; she didn't want to admit that she was indeed a frog. 0
