The Negotiation Point was the biggest lie. The ancient, dilapidated house stood wide open, inviting them inside. It was empty except for a few armchairs, and platforms nailed to the walls were filled with candles, their flickering flames stinging the eyes. 0

Xin Yi sensed something was wrong and called for everyone to leave, but it was too late. Figures in Patient Gowns surged from the shadows, surrounding them completely. One woman stood at the farthest chair, her smile radiant as she looked at them, her gentle wave making Xin Yi feel an unsettling familiarity. 0

But those figures advanced toward them, their knives as sharp as the bonds that tied their hands together, capable of easily severing even the barrels of their guns. Xin Yi clearly remembered the weaknesses of these cyborgs; however, this batch was far stronger than any he had encountered before. It was difficult even to get close enough to twist their necks. 0

"When did these things become so strong?" The leader kicked aside one who attempted a sneak attack from behind and shot another in the neck before picking up the fallen knife and handing it to him. This question echoed in each of their minds; those they had faced before were merely erratic in movement, lacking significant combat power. Even the one they encountered underground at New Life Hospital had not been this formidable. 0

Xin Yi couldn't answer; he could only strive to ensure that every shot he fired would stop an opponent's movement. These experiments used knives merely to incapacitate them; taking lives meant twisting necks with precision. Most of their team had already lost their vitality; looking around, only a few scattered survivors remained in the room. 0

He saw Zhang Zhongjing swaying unsteadily, two experiments slowly closing in on him with only his arms injured. Xin Yi raised his gun and shattered one’s skull. After confirming he was out of bullets, he lunged forward to pull Zhang Zhongjing away from danger, using his knife to slice another's throat. 0

In that moment, he noticed a dagger embedded in Zhang Zhongjing's chest, his pupils beginning to dilate. The man trembled as he grasped Xin Yi's collar, struggling to speak as he entrusted the child they had rescued together with Song Bunan to him. "Zhang... the Zhang Family is... gone... thank you..." The man breathed his last in Xin Yi's arms, his eyes filled with regret. 0

"Xin Yi! Behind you!" Feeling someone approaching from behind, he laid down the man's body and turned to block an attack. In his ear, the leader shouted urgently, but when he turned back, he saw a face that wasn't entirely unfamiliar. 0

Ming You. 0

Ming You's appearance caused the experiments to halt their assault. Xin Yi looked around; now only he and the leader remained alive amidst the chaos. The girl stood there in clean clothes, incongruous with the scene around her, her smile making his heart race with unease. 0

"It’s quite a shame so many of my toys had to die for me to see your abilities," she said as she approached him, stopping just an arm's length away with a bright smile. "Good thing Bunan didn’t come; I can’t imagine how he would cry upon seeing this scene—especially since I’m here." 0

With a simple gesture toward where the leader stood, something shot through the air and struck him down without visible wounds. Xin Yi was astonished by her speed and reacted instinctively to counterattack, but it was effortlessly deflected. A tiny needle pricked his neck, and in an instant, darkness enveloped him as he lost consciousness. 0

“I’ll be locked up here if you open your eyes again. That woman wants to make a deal with me: if I agree to be her test subject, she’ll let you go.” 0

Xin Yi, with a head injury that made him look pitiful as blood streamed into his eyes, leaned weakly against Song Bunan. Song Bunan felt a pang of pain as he pressed his clothing against Xin Yi’s wound, feeling helpless after hearing his boyfriend recount the situation. 0

“What power does she have to let me go? How can you still believe such threats…” It was truly touching how Xin Yi's simple desire to protect stirred emotions within Song Bunan. He felt both love and distress for his boyfriend, recalling the disbelief and madness on Xin Yi's face when he saw him thrown in here. It felt like his heart was being squeezed. 0

“But you still got caught,” Xin Yi said weakly, as if all strength had been drained from him. He rested his head on Song Bunan's shoulder, his frail body chilling to the bone. 0

Song Bunan held him close, sighing at the handcuffs that bound him. Thankfully, it wasn’t too cold here; their embrace provided some warmth. He briefly explained how he had been brought here, and Xin Yi closed his eyes, letting out a rare sigh. He admitted that he had let his guard down, thinking it was foolproof to leave him outside. 0

“There’s no such thing as foolproof in this world. Besides, don’t believe anything that woman says; she’s just after your body. She even showed me a bunch of pictures of handsome men and said I should give you to her so she could pick someone from them. Why would you trust someone so ridiculous? You might as well believe I’m a woman,” Song Bunan said, feeling a wave of sadness from Xin Yi’s unusual low spirits. He forced his boyfriend to look at him. 0

In the dim light, Xin Yi looked extremely haggard. Song Bunan stopped talking and gently kissed him, the taste of blood spreading in his mouth with a hint of bitterness. He still hadn’t learned how to kiss properly; it was Xin Yi who took the lead, pushing his tongue into Song Bunan’s mouth and swirling it around. 0

Kissing on the ground mixed with blood was too messy; Song Bunan nearly tried to meld Xin Yi into himself. He didn’t want his boyfriend to feel sad or hurt, so he chose to communicate through actions rather than words. 0

The prolonged kiss made it hard for him to breathe; after just a few moments, he felt a burning tightness in his chest from lack of oxygen. When Xin Yi finally released him, he gasped for air like a fish stranded on land. 0

“Why?” Xin Yi’s deep voice came through. Unable to embrace him back, he could only lean against Song Bunan’s shoulder while speaking. Song Bunan chuckled softly in response and whispered into Xin Yi’s ear, “I did it on purpose.” 0

The man didn’t reply, and they sat quietly together until Song Bunan felt Xin Yi’s breathing return to normal before releasing him to see if there was any way to free his hands. Xin Yi didn’t struggle; he remained kneeling on the ground while allowing Song Bunan to fumble around. 0

Emotions were like monsters; after accumulating through various events, they erupted due to one incident—like a volcano melting away reason and leaving only anger and resentment rampaging within. If not released, it would only lead to an internal explosion. Song Bunan was like rain falling precisely on lava, slowly but surely cooling it down until it extinguished completely. 0

With somewhat blurred vision, Xin Yi looked at the person beside him, whose face had turned red from exerting effort to pull out the long stick. Memories of the kiss they had just shared flooded his mind, feeling more intense than ever, the taste of blood leaving him wanting more. 0

"Hey!" Song Bunan exclaimed suddenly, and then he fell backward, landing flat on his back while still clutching the successfully extracted stick. Although his hands were still bound and unable to be freed, the absence of something to hold onto provided immense relief for his sore arms, allowing him to stretch his legs and sit on the ground. 0

Rubbing his backside as he stood up, he cursed under his breath and tossed the stick aside. He shuffled over to sit next to Xin Yi, mimicking his earlier action by resting his head on Xin Yi's shoulder and massaging his arms that had been painfully restrained for too long. 0

"That woman has ulterior motives; she has tried to go after you multiple times, and I won’t tolerate her anymore." Seeing that Xin Yi's mood had improved slightly, Song Bunan finally let out his true feelings. Rubbing his nose, which itched from dust, he began to complain about the bizarre behavior in the laboratory. "I was unhappy from the first moment you were targeted at New Life Hospital. I didn’t expect it to turn into a series of events with relentless schemers trying to undermine you. That woman is even more outrageous; besides using underhanded tactics to forcibly take you away, she’s now playing a game of swapping people. If it weren’t for some things still needing verification, I would have given her a combination punch in her office just now." 0

As Song Bunan spoke passionately, he habitually dug at the ground with his hands, soon creating a palm-sized hole. The annoyance that had been brewing in Xin Yi dissipated significantly as he listened. Feeling unusually tired, he adjusted his sitting position and gestured for Song Bunan to come closer. He leaned against the man’s shoulder, intending to rest his eyes for a moment. 0

Noticing Xin Yi's discomfort, Song Bunan allowed him to nestle against him without resistance. The entire space fell silent; Song Bunan glanced outside where several guards assigned to watch over them stood like stone statues, their lifeless eyes fixed on them. The woman was nowhere to be seen, and even the other lab coats that occasionally passed by had significantly decreased in number. 0

It was understandable that they were wary of him. Song Bunan tilted his head to look at Xin Yi; the man's handsome face was marred by blood, appearing somewhat disheveled. The wound wasn’t deep, and at this moment, he was fast asleep. His appearance did differ somewhat from those in the photos, but his physique was far superior. Knowing that his movements wouldn’t wake Xin Yi, Song Bunan happily rubbed his hands over the man’s firm chest muscles. 0

His partner certainly wouldn’t be given up easily to those annoying pests—not even for seventeen or eighteen handsome men. He gently wiped Xin Yi's face with his sleeve, thinking that it should be about time for something to happen. 0
