"Mom, what kind of soup is this?"
My mother-in-law shot me a cold glance.
"This is a beauty soup made from human fetal hair."
"Drinking it will make your skin smoother."
I was stunned; wasn't this the hair of my unborn child?
She actually cooked this for me!
"Ugh—" I couldn't help but vomit.
Zhao Ling covered her mouth and laughed,
"Sister-in-law, don't you love drinking young boys' urine?"
"What's wrong? Can't you handle a change in flavor?"
"Is this fetal hair soup really worse than young boys' urine?"
A chill ran down my spine.
Zhao Ling leaned closer, "Sister, why don't you give it a try?"
She lifted the blanket, revealing the child's bottom.
"Ah—" I screamed.
I practically rolled away in panic.
Zhao Ling looked at my flustered state and laughed heartily.
"Sister, what are you afraid of? Didn't you always want a child? I'm just helping you!"
She held up the Mirror Fragment and stepped closer to me.
"Sister, just hang in there; it won't hurt for long."
I backed away until my back hit the wall.
There was nowhere left to retreat! The next moment, I felt a sharp pain on my face.
The Mirror Fragment grazed my skin, and blood trickled down my cheek.
Zhao Ling clapped her hands in delight: "Great job, Sister! You've finally marred your beauty!"
Zhao Li pushed the door open and Zhao Ling fell to the ground in a dramatic fashion.
She cried out, "Sister scratched my face!"
Zhao Li's expression changed instantly as he strode over and seized my arm.
I struggled to break free, but Zhao Li was too strong.
He directly dislocated my wrist.
"Ah—" I cried out in pain, beads of sweat forming on my forehead.
The agony from my dislocated wrist nearly made me faint.
I curled up on the ground, glaring at them with bloodshot eyes.
Zhao Ling sat on the floor, tears streaming down her face like rain-soaked pear blossoms.
"Brother! Am I going to be disfigured?"
Zhao Li looked pained. "Don't be afraid; I'll take you to the hospital."
He carefully picked up Zhao Ling.
Through her sobs, she asked, "Brother, what if I have scars on my face?"
Zhao Li's eyes were filled with concern. "That won't happen. Even if you do have scars, you'll always be the most beautiful in my heart."
I lay on the ground, feeling a heart-wrenching pain in my wrist.
I was drenched in sweat from the agony.
Zhao Li walked out of the bedroom and paused when he saw me.
He glanced at me briefly before gently grasping my wrist and twisting it firmly.
The dislocated wrist was reset with a swift motion.
Zhao Li's expression remained unchanged.
"Zhao Li, what exactly did you feed me?" I shouted angrily.
Zhao Li ruffled my hair.
"How could your husband possibly harm you?"
"That was the beauty soup that Mom specially made."
"Your sister just gave birth and needs to replenish her strength."
"Once she recovers, I'll make you a bowl too."
Zhao Li's tone was filled with insincerity.
My questioning made him impatient.
He switched to a tone meant for soothing a child as he spoke to me:
"Dear, be good and listen."
"Your sister is not well right now."
"Try to understand her."
I was so angry that my whole body trembled.
"Zhao Li, I didn't scratch Zhao Ling's face at all!"
"She deliberately set me up!"
Suddenly, a scream echoed from the bedroom.
There was also the sound of a baby crying.
Zhao Li's attention was drawn by the noise.
He hurriedly stepped outside.
The commotion outside gave me a headache.
I pressed my ears tightly, my mind blank.
My stomach began to churn violently.
A metallic, sweet taste rose in my throat.
