Ye Guiwen returned to her bedroom, took a shower, and called the number she had dialed that morning once again. Her phone indicated, "The number you have dialed is currently unavailable."
Well, they must have returned. Ye Guiwen felt a little happy, thinking that her difficult life was about to end, and she comfortably climbed into bed to sleep.
Just ten minutes after lying down, her phone rang.
"Where are you?"
"At home."
"Come over." The call was abruptly ended without hesitation.
Ye Guiwen closed her eyes, and after a brief moment of confusion, she suddenly jolted awake. She jumped up and grabbed her phone to see that it was indeed the call from her eccentric boss! Panic set in as she didn't know what to do...
As the workday neared its end, the last colleague finally finished reporting their tasks. Just as Yin Yanhe was about to summarize, a loud "bang" echoed in the meeting room. Everyone turned to look and saw a head resting motionless on the table, emitting strange sounds as if someone was snoring in their sleep...
A nearby colleague awkwardly cleared their throat but received no response. They leaned closer and softly called out again, yet the person remained completely still. The boss's anger flared instantly as he shouted, "Ye Guiwen!"
"Present!" Ye Guiwen sprang up like a lion from her slumber, standing tall with her chest out and staring straight ahead. She declared loudly, "Reporting to the captain, everything is normal!"
Everyone exchanged glances, sweat beading on their foreheads.
Ye Guiwen's eyes darted around as she finally realized where she was. Her body trembled slightly as she cautiously turned her head to face her stern boss. The atmosphere in the meeting room had dropped to an all-time low, with Yin Yanhe remaining silent. After what felt like an eternity, he slowly stood up and coldly announced the meeting adjourned. Before leaving, he sternly instructed, "Miss Ye, please send me the meeting minutes tomorrow."
"Yes..." Ye Guiwen watched him leave, forcing a smile that looked more like a grimace than anything else.
As soon as Ye Guiwen hung up the call, Yin Yanhe answered, his voice cold as he asked, "What is it?"
"You just said I should come to your house?"
"Yes."
"Now?"
"Yes."
"Um, may I ask if you need something from me?"
"Yes."
Ye Guiwen glanced at the time, feeling a bit reluctant. She quietly said, "General Yin, it's already quite late. Wouldn't it be better to discuss this tomorrow at work?"
There was a pause on the other end before he replied, "Miss Ye, do you really understand the responsibilities of a personal assistant? Or is the concept of a fifty-thousand-a-year salary still lost on you? Did the company hire you at such a high salary just for you to negotiate with your superior?"
"..." Alright, that hit a nerve for Ye Guiwen; after all, people do die for money. With great difficulty, she struggled out of her warm blankets and braved the chilly wind to rush to her boss's apartment building. However, due to an elevator malfunction, she had to climb all the way from the first floor to the twenty-fourth. When she finally knocked on her boss's door, panting and out of breath, Yin Yanhe merely expressionlessly handed her a suit through the door and coldly instructed, "It's been dry cleaned; I'll send it to the office tomorrow."
With a sharp "bang," the door closed without mercy.
Ye Guiwen felt three black lines appear on her forehead in an instant, utterly confused. She raised her hand and pressed the doorbell again. This time, Yin Yanhe didn't even open the door but asked through the intercom, "Is there anything else?"
"Um, yes," Ye Guiwen said earnestly. "Besides the dry-cleaned suit, is there something important you need to convey?"
"There's nothing left."
"Nothing... left?"
"Actually, there is something else."
Ye Guiwen's ears perked up immediately, her expression a bit excited. "What is it?"
"Bring me the meeting minutes first thing tomorrow morning."
Ye Guiwen stood at the door, holding her suit, looking as if she had been turned to stone in an instant.
She returned home in a daze. After finishing three large bowls of rice in one go, she remembered to take off her clothes and hand them to her mother, saying, "Can you fix this for me?"
All the buttons on the little suit had "disappeared." Mama Ye looked at her in surprise and asked, "Did they pop off again?"
Ye Guiwen nodded honestly.
"If you can't wear it, don't force yourself. This outfit looks nice, but it's not something precious; we can just get another one," Mama Ye said, looking at her daughter with concern.
Ye Guiwen sighed and replied helplessly, "This is my work uniform; I have to wear it."
