Ding!
The elevator came to a stop.
The doors slowly opened.
"Welcome to the Negative First Floor!"
Lu Zhao and I exchanged glances, both seeing despair reflected in each other's eyes.
At that moment, I noticed it was exactly twelve noon, the time when the sun's energy is at its peak.
Lu Zhao, however, was visibly shaken, her legs trembling beneath her.
A chilling gust of wind swept in from outside the elevator.
Both of us couldn't help but shiver.
Then we caught sight of the scene outside the elevator.
It was a morgue, with bodies and bloodstains scattered across the floor.
The air was thick with a nauseating stench.
There were six beds in total in the morgue, five of which were occupied by corpses.
All those bodies were covered with white sheets.
Only one bed remained empty.
Strangely enough, that bed was located in the upper right corner.
"Is this really the Negative First Floor?"
I couldn't help but ponder silently: "Could the escape route be right here?"
But how am I supposed to find a way out?
At that moment, I noticed that the corpse on the bed in the upper right corner was gone.
Lu Zhao panicked, "An Peng, I think I saw that corpse move!"
I was so frightened that my soul nearly left my body; I was about to turn and run.
Just then, I heard a sharp voice whisper in my ear, "There’s still a bed available here!"
Immediately, I saw Lu Zhao lying on the adjacent bed, covered with a white sheet as if playing dead.
With no other choice, I lay down as well.
As soon as I settled in, a wave of intense drowsiness washed over me.
Reluctantly, I covered myself with the blanket and drifted into a hazy sleep.
When I finally woke up, I found myself back in the original hospital room.
However, everything around me was turned upside down.
The ground was in the sky, and the sky was below.
I knew we had entered the Inverted World!
At that moment, the door to the ward opened, revealing the Female Nurse with her mouth sewn shut.
She came in, counted the number of people quickly, and then hurriedly left.
I sensed that something was very wrong in this world.
Perhaps those who appeared normal were no longer normal at all.
Lu Zhao paced anxiously in the room, "What are we going to do? Are we really going to be trapped here?"
I walked over to the window, gazing at everything outside, lost in thought.
Perhaps entering the Inverted World wasn't such a bad thing after all.
Maybe there would be a chance for escape there.
With that thought, I made up my mind.
At six-thirty in the evening, we tried the elevator again to reach the Negative First Floor.
However, this time the elevator only took us to the first floor; the Negative First Floor seemed to have vanished.
"How could this happen?"
Lu Zhao became frantic. "Does that mean we have no chance anymore?"
I pondered for a moment and replied, "Maybe the timing is wrong or the triggering conditions aren't met."
"What do you mean?"
Lu Zhao looked at me in confusion. "Did we trigger some condition last time?"
I thought back and said, "We entered the Negative First Floor at Midnight last time."
"So you're saying we can only access the Negative First Floor at Midnight?"
Lu Zhao nodded thoughtfully. "Then let's wait and see."
That night at eleven fifty-eight, we stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the Negative First Floor.
As expected, the elevator began to shake violently once again.
I finally stopped at the Negative First Floor.
The Morgue was still very quiet, with only a few corpses lying peacefully on the beds.
I glanced at the time; it was exactly midnight.
This meant that as long as I arrived at the Negative First Floor right at midnight, I could enter the Inverted World.
This time, I had prepared a knife in advance, secretly hidden on my person.
At that moment, the voice reappeared: "There’s still one bed available here!"
I quickly turned around and stabbed forward with my knife.
With a squelch, green fluid splattered onto my clothes.
It was then that I realized it was a Human-Faced Spider.
It struggled for a moment before going limp.
However, this seemed to disrupt the balance of the Inverted World, and the world began to shatter like a broken mirror.
