“Knock, knock, knock!”
I knocked on the door with great effort.
“Who is it?”
“Get away from here!”
After knocking for a while, the person inside finally opened the door with impatience.
“What brings you here?”
My grandmother looked surprised when she saw me.
I handed over my little brother, cradled in my arms.
“This is my brother.”
Upon hearing this, a smile immediately spread across my grandmother's face.
She reached out to take the child.
“Oh! This must be my dear grandson!”
Hearing the commotion, my grandfather also got up from the bed.
He excitedly walked over to me and gently touched my brother's small face.
“So this is the fruit of our family?”
“Ha ha! The Old Xue Family has a successor!”
Grandma laughed heartily while holding my little brother.
“ Xiao Feng'er, where is your mother?”
“Why didn’t she come?”
I lowered my head and answered softly, “She refuses to feed the baby.”
“What?!”
Grandpa exploded at once upon hearing this.
“That Spendthrift Woman!”
“She wants to cut off the lineage of the Old Xue Family!”
Grandma was also quite furious and started walking towards our house with the baby in her arms.
“Let’s go! I’ll take you all home!”
“Just wait and see how I deal with that Spendthrift Woman!”
Grandpa and I hurried after her, quickly making our way back home.
As soon as we entered the door, Grandma couldn’t wait to shout.
“Tao Er's Mom! Tao Er's Mom!”
A weak voice from inside the house drifted out.
"Who is it…"
Grandma, filled with anger, rushed over and abruptly pulled back Mom's blanket.
Startled by the sudden movement, Mom let out a scream.
"Ah!!"
"Mom?"
Seeing her in such a state only fueled Grandma's fury.
"You spendthrift woman!"
"Even after giving birth, you still refuse to nurse the baby!"
"Are you trying to starve the bloodline of our Old Xue Family?!"
Mom, scolded into silence, curled up in bed, trembling.
Grandpa, witnessing this scene, was instantly enraged.
He grabbed Mom by her hair and forcefully dragged her off the bed!
Mom cried out in pain, desperately struggling to break free from Grandpa's grip.
But Grandpa was too strong; she simply couldn't escape.
Grandfather dragged Mother into the yard and raised his cane to strike her.
"I told you not to breastfeed!"
"I told you to stop starving my grandson!"
As he hit her, he shouted insults, and Mother cried out for help.
She begged desperately, but Grandfather paid no heed.
Grandmother stood to the side, holding Brother, watching coldly as Mother was beaten.
Mother was in agony, pleading for mercy.
"Dad... Dad... please stop..."
"I was wrong... I truly was wrong..."
Grandmother scoffed, holding Brother tightly.
"Hmph! You spendthrift woman!"
"You should have been suffocated at birth!"
"Better than bringing shame upon us here!"
Mother was beaten until her skin was broken and bruised, unable to utter a word from the pain.
Only after striking her several more times did Grandfather finally relent.
He pushed his mother aside, leaving her to take care of his younger brother.
The mother, beaten and afraid to resist, could only huddle in a corner, nursing the baby.
As the baby fed, he kept staring at her.
The mother's face turned pale under his gaze.
Suddenly, the baby let out a couple of giggles while feeding, causing her to tremble in fear.
Yet she dared not tell their grandparents about this; she could only endure in silence.
I noticed her fear and couldn't help but smirk inwardly.
Now she was finally experiencing what it felt like to be afraid, wasn't she?
I told our grandparents about how Dad sold the bracelet, and they were instantly furious.
That bracelet was a gift from them when Mom married into the family.
I heard it was quite valuable!
