Lu Man had suffered a blow to her ribs, breaking two of them, and would need to recuperate in the hospital for a while, putting all her work on hold. 0

Fortunately, her life was not in danger, which could be considered a stroke of luck amidst the misfortune. 0

Jiang Yiming gently closed the door behind him, allowing Lu Man to rest. He walked over to the window and noticed the moonlight casting a soft glow; the night was completely dark. 0

As he relaxed, the day's tension seemed like a distant memory. 0

Xu Qing, who usually appeared quite proud, turned out to be unexpectedly warm-hearted. If she hadn’t jumped down to embrace Lu Man, it was likely that Lu Man wouldn’t have been so fortunate. 0

"Yes, when we pulled her up, superstar Lu had already fainted. Xu Qing's left ear was bleeding, yet she still comforted us. The situation was truly terrifying," one girl recounted. 0

"Who’s bleeding?" 0

The two girls talking were startled by Jiang Yiming's sudden appearance as he towered over them with a stern expression. 0

Upon recognizing him, they sighed in relief. "President Jiang, we were talking about Miss Xu Qing." 0

"What happened?" Jiang Yiming's voice trembled slightly. 0

The two girls exchanged glances, wondering how President Jiang still didn’t know about the incident that had occurred on set that day. Nevertheless, they took turns explaining the situation clearly. 0

However, as soon as they finished speaking, the usually stoic Jiang Yiming simply said "Thank you" before rushing out. 0

The doorbell rang incessantly, and Xu Qing opened the door to find Jiang Yiming, who was supposed to be at the hospital with Lu Man, standing outside, breathless. Without asking too many questions, she stepped back to let him in, realizing he must have forgotten his keys. 0

Jiang Yiming followed Xu Qing inside and hesitated for a few seconds before asking, “Are you okay?” 0

Xu Qing turned around, looking at him curiously, her eyes questioning the meaning behind his words. When he pointed to his left ear, she understood and brushed her hair aside, saying, “At first, it hurt so much I wanted to scream. But after getting some medicine at the hospital, it doesn’t hurt anymore. The doctor said it’s nothing serious.” 0

She smiled brightly, as if discussing nothing more significant than the weather or last night’s dinner. Then she asked in surprise, “You rushed back just to ask me about this little thing? If that’s the case, I’ll take it as you’re showing concern for me and trying to flatter yourself.” 0

In the morning, her hair had been down; now that she had pulled it back, Jiang Yiming noticed a wad of cotton stuffed in her left ear, with faint traces of blood seeping through the white cotton. His heart skipped a beat as he blurted out, “I’m sorry.” 0

“Who would have thought that the proud President Jiang would apologize?” 0

Xu Qing was initially taken aback but then teased him with a smile. “Considering this might be President Jiang’s first apology to someone, I’ll accept it. However, if you want to thank me for saving Lu Man’s life, how about giving me that Jiang Family Heirloom Jade Bracelet?” 0

Xu Qing had only seen the jade bracelet once but had taken a strong liking to it. She had asked Jiang Yiming for it countless times without success. 0

Jiang Yiming had once said that the ancestral jade bracelet was meant for his future wife. 0

But this time, he readily nodded in agreement. “I’ll have my secretary bring it tomorrow.” 0

Xu Qing's comment was actually a test of Lu Man's significance in Jiang Yiming's heart, and she got her answer. 0

The intense feeling of disappointment barely had time to show on her face before Xu Qing smiled even brighter. “Don’t take it seriously; I was just joking. Why would I like something like that?” She sat down on the sofa and picked up the remote control to start watching television. 0

Jiang Yiming furrowed his brow, feeling a sense of unease at Xu Qing's demeanor. Her next action explained the unusual behavior of the evening. 0

Xu Qing casually picked up a document from the table and tossed it to Jiang Yiming, the bold letters on the paper clearly stating "Divorce Agreement." 0

Jiang Yiming was taken aback; this was completely unexpected. 0

He had imagined countless scenarios of them signing the divorce papers, but he never anticipated that Xu Qing would be the one to bring it up first. He was at a loss for how to respond, caught off guard. It shouldn't be happening this quickly! 0

"I'll talk to my parents about this, and I'll also mention Lu Man. Right now, all you need to do is sign your name, and it's done." 0

Xu Qing's voice mingled with the noisy advertisements in the background, yet it reached Jiang Yiming's ears with crystal clarity. His mind was in chaos; his lips moved as he finally managed to squeeze out a word: "Why?" 0

It was so sudden, especially coming from Xu Qing, who had once said she would stick with him until he grew to love her. Jiang Yiming felt anger bubbling within him, his pride wounded. 0

Xu Qing turned off the television, stretched her arms, and stood up. She repeated his question with a hint of defiance: "Why? Because after the incident, you didn't ask if I was hurt; instead, you questioned why it wasn't you lying there. Because it wasn't until today that I realized I can't compete with Lu Man; I can't even win your sympathy or pity. Because you're an ungrateful wolf; no matter how much care I give, you only turn towards Lu Man, and I can't pull you back. Because I don't have a heart of steel; I'm not some iron person who feels no pain from your slander or harm. Because..." 0

Xu Qing had countless answers to Jiang Yiming's question. 0

Yet, like a child under the dim light, with her long hair cascading down her shoulders and her chin pointed defiantly, she pouted and said arrogantly, "Because I don't want to play with you anymore." 0
