In the Xiao Family Villa, the servants were in a state of panic, whispering among themselves.
The butler stormed into the nanny's room, grabbing the feverish Lin Mo from her bed and dragging her into the living room without a word. Lin Mo's hair was disheveled, and she was only wearing a thin nightgown. She struggled in fear, not understanding what was happening.
In the living room, Madam Xiao sat upright, her face pale with anger as she pointed at the jewelry boxes scattered on the floor. "Where is my diamond necklace? Did you steal it?" she demanded.
Lin Mo's heart sank; she had never even seen a diamond necklace, let alone stolen one. She shook her head in panic and explained, "Madam, I didn't! I really didn't steal your necklace."
The butler scoffed and mercilessly slapped Lin Mo across the face, scolding her, "You little wretch, how dare you deny it! You're the only servant who has been in Madam's room; if it wasn't you who stole it, then who could it be?"
Dazed from the blow, with her cheek burning in pain, Lin Mo insisted, "I didn't steal anything; please believe me."
Madam Xiao was furious and shouted at the butler, "Search her! Check every part of her!"
The butler grinned maliciously as he approached Lin Mo, roughly tearing at her clothes and searching her body. Humiliated and furious, Lin Mo fought back desperately but was no match for the butler's brute strength.
Just then, the villa's front door swung open, and Xiao Jingchuan walked in with a flamboyantly dressed woman on his arm. Upon seeing the disheveled Lin Mo, a smirk crept onto his face. He stepped closer to Lin Mo and said mockingly, "Oh look, isn't this our little maid? What happened to you? Caught stealing?"
The woman laughed along with him and chimed in, "Jingchuan, do you know this little thief? I never would have guessed; she looks so innocent yet has dirty hands."
Tears streamed down Lin Mo's face as she recognized the woman—a popular celebrity and one of Xiao Jingchuan's many girlfriends. She couldn't believe that the boy who had once promised to protect her for life had turned so cold-hearted and even brought his girlfriend to humiliate her.
Choking back sobs, Lin Mo pleaded, "Jingchuan, I didn't steal anything; please believe me."
Xiao Jingchuan sneered and pushed her aside. "Lin Mo, stop pretending. I know exactly what kind of person you are. You'll do anything for money."
Lin Mo's heart shattered completely. She had once loved this man deeply and sacrificed everything for him—even severing ties with her family. Yet now he trampled on her dignity and regarded her as nothing more than a lowly thief.
Xiao Jingchuan turned to Madam Xiao while still holding onto the woman. "Auntie, have you found the necklace? If not, we should call the police to handle this."
Madam Xiao nodded, tapping her brightly painted red nails lightly on the armrest of the sofa as she instructed the butler, "Call the police and have this little wretch arrested!"
Lin Mo collapsed to the ground, her hands clutching Madam Xiao's skirt tightly as she pleaded with a trembling voice, "Madam, please let me go. I truly didn't steal your necklace!"
Madam Xiao let out a cold laugh, looking down at her with disdain. "If you want to live, that's not impossible."
She elegantly crossed her legs, her red lips parting slightly as she continued, "I have a few old friends at the Golden Pavilion Club, all successful men in their fifties. You can accompany them for drinks, and we can consider this matter settled."
She paused meaningfully before adding, "What do you think? It's much better than spending time in prison, isn't it?"
