The day after the admission notice arrived, the only son of the Chen family was found dead in a villa. The chain of evidence was sufficient to apprehend the perpetrator. Yet, all evidence suddenly vanished, leaving the victim's family in despair and ruin. The father, suffering from a terminal illness, could only order spices to treat his insomnia. The next day, the head of the mastermind, Xiao Bai, was delivered to the police station. 0

When the police came looking for me, I was sorting through some dried flower petals. The sunlight filtered through the frosted glass, casting a golden halo over them. The sound of wind chimes tinkled softly as two uniformed officers walked in. One was the youngest Captain Qin, while the other appeared to be a rookie fresh out of training. 0

I set down the petals and smiled at them, my tone no different from that of welcoming ordinary customers. "Welcome! What can I help you with today?" 0

Captain Qin’s first reaction upon entering was to survey the shop's layout, scanning from west to east. It was the younger officer who pulled out a notebook and directly inquired, "Hello, I’m Officer Wang Jun from the city’s second squad. We are investigating a case and would like to gather some information." 0

"Of course," I replied. 0

"On October 12th, where were you and who were you with?" Officer Wang Jun got straight to the point. 0

"October 12th..." I sat back in a red hardwood chair, resting my chin on one hand while tapping the glass counter with the other. "I should have been in the shop; I rarely go out." 0

"Did you receive an order from someone named Chen Datong?" 0

"Yes, he placed an order for some aromatherapy." 0

Captain Qin, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up. "You have quite a good memory? You can recall it without needing to think? Is that intentional or just coincidence?" 0

I rubbed my fingertips thoughtfully and met his gaze calmly. "That’s because there aren’t many orders in the shop; I certainly remember when a customer comes in." 0

Without further questioning, Qin Shao simply gestured for Wang Jun to continue. 0

"Please don't be nervous. Our captain treats everyone this way. Ma'am, may I ask what you were doing on October 13th, and is there anyone who can vouch for you?" 0

I pointed towards the door outside. "I went out for a while in the evening, but I can't remember exactly what time I came back. However, there’s a surveillance camera right in front of my shop; you can investigate there." 0

"We've already looked into that; we just need to verify some details with you. What do you know about Chen Datong?" 0

I looked at the two police officers in front of me and spoke directly. "Isn't it just that his son was murdered, and the murderer was let go by you? What are you asking me for?" 0

Two months ago, Chen Jiang had finished his college entrance exams. This slender young man carried the hopes of his family on his shoulders. To help ease his mother's burden, he started working part-time immediately after the exams, without a single day off. 0

Everyone on Heping Road knew this young man who delivered milk before dawn, then newspapers, worked as a waiter during the day, and still took on extra shifts at the night market. Whenever he passed by the breakfast shop, the elderly folks loved to slip him some tea eggs or meat buns. 0

The the Chen Family's life was already tough; Chen Dayong, the father, could only do some manual work to supplement the household income due to kidney failure. All the family’s burdens rested on the frail shoulders of Mother Chen. 0

Chen Jiang once suggested dropping out of school but was harshly criticized by his parents from the the Chen Family. He had no choice but to study hard and strive for a good university. Everything seemed to be progressing smoothly. 0

On August 10th, Kyoto A University sent an admission notice to the the Chen Family. But just three days later, Chen Jiang's body was discovered at Xishan Villa. 0

Surrounding him were several wealthy youths reeking of alcohol, their faces twisted and devoid of humanity, like released beasts. Chen Jiang lay curled up on the ground like a dog, naked with a rope around his neck, his body covered in bruises and mixed with some murky liquid. He resembled a worn-out toy that had been played with carelessly. 0

Even a well-informed police officer turned red with anger. Their swift arrival was due to a series of ample testimonies. 0

The day after the Admission Notice was issued, several high school classmates invited Chen Jiang to go hiking. He had initially planned to continue working, but his mother insisted he take some time to relax. It was on this day that he encountered a group of demons. 0

The events unfolded clearly: they came across a group of Young Masters bullying an Old Man at the foot of Xishan Mountain. Acting out of a sense of justice, Chen Jiang confronted them, but the Young Masters, taken by Chen Jiang's handsome appearance, simply abducted him. 0

The police arrived at the scene to investigate. Fortunately, there was a security camera at a nearby shop that clearly captured the faces of the Young Masters and their license plate number. The police traced the license plate and retrieved surveillance footage along the route, ultimately leading them to Xishan Villa. However, when they arrived at the villa, all they found was Chen Jiang's lifeless body. 0

The police strictly followed protocol, using a Law Enforcement Recorder as they brought the drunken rich heirs and Chen Jiang's corpse back to the precinct. The Chain of Evidence was complete and clearly pointed to the truth. 0

Once the details of the crime were made public, it caused an uproar across major platforms, with countless netizens tirelessly condemning these criminals. Everyone hoped that they would be swiftly executed. 0

And so it progressed. Based on all the Chain of Evidence, the first trial resulted in a death sentence that was to be carried out immediately. Upon hearing this news, there was widespread celebration online. People rejoiced that justice had been served for the young man who had lost his life. 0

Yet, it was ironic how quickly opinions could shift; today, netizens stood with the the Chen Family, but tomorrow they might just as easily call for vengeance against them on behalf of the wealthy heirs. 0
