The doorbell interrupted Zheng Kaiwen just as he was about to speak, causing Li Xunwan to frown slightly. "Who could it be at this hour?" she murmured, rising from Zheng Kaiwen's warm embrace.
"I'll get the door," Zheng Kaiwen said, standing up. His tall figure cast a long shadow in the living room light, and Li Xunwan couldn't help but steal a few glances at his broad shoulders and strong arms.
As the door opened, Liu Sitian's sweet face appeared. "Surprise!" she exclaimed excitedly, holding a cake box in her hands.
"Sitian? What are you doing here?" Li Xunwan asked in surprise, instinctively smoothing her slightly messy hair.
Liu Sitian squeezed through the door, her curvy figure accentuated by the tight dress she wore. "Of course I came to celebrate your successful performance!" She blinked her big eyes. "I even bought your favorite cake!"
Li Xunwan felt a mix of emotions, both amused and touched. She glanced at Zheng Kaiwen, who shrugged helplessly but looked at her with warmth in his eyes.
The three of them gathered around the coffee table as Liu Sitian eagerly opened the cake box. "Come on, let's cut the cake!" she said cheerfully.
Just then, Li Xunwan's phone suddenly rang. She picked it up and her face instantly paled.
"What’s wrong?" Zheng Kaiwen asked with concern, his large hand gently resting on Li Xunwan's slender waist.
Li Xunwan took a deep breath. "It's Teacher Xie. She says there's an emergency and we need to go to school right away."
Liu Sitian frowned. "At this hour? Could there be a problem?"
Zheng Kaiwen stood up. "No matter what, we should go check it out." His voice was deep and firm, providing Li Xunwan with immense comfort.
The three of them hurried to the school, and from a distance, they could see the rehearsal room of the drama club brightly lit. Pushing the door open, Xie Qinghuan stood in the center, a subtle smile playing on her lips.
"Teacher, what happened?" Li Xunwan asked eagerly.
Xie Qinghuan elegantly turned around. "Don't be nervous; I just wanted to share some good news with you." She paused for effect. "Our performance has qualified for the city-level competition."
This news hit the rehearsal room like a bombshell. Li Xunwan gasped in surprise, covering her mouth, Zheng Kaiwen clenched his fists in excitement, and Liu Sitian jumped up with joy.
"That's amazing!" Li Xunwan exclaimed, turning to hug Zheng Kaiwen, her softness pressing against his solid chest.
Zheng Kaiwen gently stroked Li Xunwan's long hair. "I knew you would succeed," he said, pride evident in his voice.
At that moment, Xie Qinghuan cleared her throat. "There's one more thing." Her gaze swept between Li Xunwan and Zheng Kaiwen. "The organizers have requested that we add a kissing scene."
Those words instantly froze the atmosphere in the room. Li Xunwan felt her heart race and her cheeks flush. She stole a glance at Zheng Kaiwen and noticed his ears were also red.
"Um... should we start rehearsing now?" Li Xunwan asked softly, her voice trembling slightly.
Xie Qinghuan nodded. "That's right; time is tight, and we need to make every minute count."
Li Xunwan took a deep breath and turned to face Zheng Kaiwen. Their eyes met in the air, as if an electric current passed between them. Zheng Kaiwen gently cupped Li Xunwan's face and leaned in slowly.
Just as their lips were about to touch, the door of the rehearsal room was suddenly pushed open, and a familiar figure burst in.
"Wait!"
Everyone turned in surprise to see Qin Shaoze standing at the door, a hint of panic and determination on his face.
" Xun Wan, I have something to say to you!" he shouted.
Xun Wan and Zheng Kaiwen exchanged glances, neither expecting such an unexpected turn of events at this moment. A tense atmosphere filled the air as everyone held their breath, waiting for what would happen next.
