I sat alone in my study, gazing out at the night sky, lost in thought. For some time now, I had felt an emptiness within me, as if something vital was missing.
"What am I really pursuing?" This question pricked at my heart like a thorn.
I closed my eyes and recalled the various experiences since my arrival in this world. From being an obscure designer to becoming a renowned Fashion Tycoon, it seemed I had achieved what many dream of. Yet, why did I feel so confused and uneasy?
Suddenly, a scene flashed in my mind. It was when I first arrived in this world, working late into the night in a shabby rental room, striving for my first Work. Back then, though I had nothing, I was filled with passion and dreams.
"Yes, what was my original dream?" I murmured to myself.
The answer came rushing back— to become an excellent designer. Not for fame or wealth, but to bring beauty into the world and realize my creative value.
In that moment, I had an epiphany. I realized that in my pursuit of success, I had lost myself and forgotten my initial dream. It was time to return to my roots.
Early the next morning, I called a meeting with the company’s executives. When I announced that I would be focusing more on design creation, everyone looked surprised.
"But boss, the company is currently in an expansion phase; how can you..." the financial director hesitated.
I smiled and interrupted him, "It is precisely because the company is doing well that I should return to the essence of design. Only through continuous innovation can we maintain our competitive edge."
In the days that followed, I began to delve deeply into Chinese Traditional Culture and art. I visited many ancient villages, met with Folk Artists, and even went to several famous temples for quiet reflection. During this process, I felt the profound depth of Chinese Culture and found new inspiration.
I started experimenting with incorporating traditional elements into modern designs. For instance, I created a stylish suit using patterns from Blue and White Porcelain; I also infused the essence of Ink Wash Painting into a flowing skirt. Each Work encapsulated my dedication and reflected my understanding and respect for traditional culture.
Finally, after three months of hard work, I held a fashion show themed "Return to the Original Intention." This show was different from the luxurious grandeur of the past; I chose an ancient garden as the venue, where models weaved through pavilions and towers, resembling fairies stepping out of a painting.
The moment the first model stepped onto the runway, the entire venue fell silent. People held their breath, gazing at this piece that perfectly combined traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern fashion. As the music began, more stunning designs were unveiled, and the audience's gasps echoed throughout.
"It's so beautiful!" "This is simply a work of art!" "Finally, someone has interpreted traditional culture in such a modern and fashionable way!"
After the fashion show concluded, the applause was relentless. Standing on stage, my heart was filled with emotion and pride. This was not just a successful show; it was proof that I had rediscovered myself.
The fashion show sparked a tremendous response both within and outside the industry. Many media outlets rushed to report it, calling it "a milestone in China's fashion scene." Critics even stated that this marked the beginning of Chinese design confidently stepping onto the world stage.
Amidst this wave of enthusiasm, I redefined our brand philosophy. "Heritage and Innovation" became our core value. Through my designs, I hoped not only to preserve Chinese traditional culture but also to promote its innovative integration with modern fashion.
At the same time, I began to focus on talent cultivation. I understood that one person's strength is limited; only by nurturing more outstanding designers could we truly advance Chinese fashion.
I started hosting design competitions within the company to provide young designers with a platform to showcase their talents. I personally guided them, imparting my years of design experience and philosophy without reservation.
Seeing the passion and aspirations in these young people's eyes reminded me of my younger self. I knew that among them, there would surely be future fashion stars.
During this process, a bolder idea began to take shape in my mind – to establish a design academy. This academy would not only teach professional knowledge but also cultivate students' cultural depth and innovative spirit.
When I shared this idea with Lu Jingshen, he smiled approvingly. "I knew you wouldn't be satisfied with the status quo. This idea is fantastic; I fully support you."
With Lu Jingshen's support, preparations for the design academy proceeded smoothly. We invited top designers from both domestic and international backgrounds to serve as instructors and developed a unique curriculum system. Soon, the first batch of students enrolled.
Looking at these vibrant young people, I felt an immense sense of satisfaction. I knew that each of them harbored dreams, just as I once did. And I was fortunate enough to be their guide on the journey to realizing those dreams.
In this process, I experienced an unprecedented sense of fulfillment and joy. I discovered my true value in life—not just in achieving my own dreams, but in helping others achieve theirs.
One day, Liu Rumeng came to see me. She had become a somewhat famous actress, but in front of me, she was still that innocent young girl.
"Sister, I’m so proud of you," she said, holding my hand. "You are not only a successful designer but also a person with ideals and responsibility. You are my role model!"
Hearing those words warmed my heart. I knew that no matter what the future held, I would remain true to my original intentions and continue on this challenging yet incredibly beautiful path.
Looking back at the past and forward to the future, I deeply felt that only by returning to one’s original intentions can one go further; only by not forgetting one’s original aspirations can one truly live out their self.
