I was leisurely sipping coffee at home when my phone suddenly rang. I picked it up to see it was my agent calling.
"Hello, Xiao Ya! I have some great news for you!" The excitement in my agent's voice was palpable. "You've been invited to star in a big-budget Action Movie, directed by one of the top names in the industry!"
I was momentarily taken aback. "Huh? An Action Movie? But I've never acted before."
"Exactly! This is your chance to showcase your talent!" my agent encouraged. "The director sees potential in you and believes you can handle it. However..."
"What is it?" I pressed.
"Well, you'll need to undergo extensive physical training. You have to be prepared to work hard."
I took a deep breath. "I understand. I'll give it my all."
After hanging up, I felt a mix of excitement and anxiety. This was a huge challenge, but also a rare opportunity. I silently vowed to put in my utmost effort.
The next morning, I arrived at the training facility bright and early. The coach was a stern-looking middle-aged man who immediately assigned me a rigorous training regimen.
"Remember, from now on, you're a warrior," the coach said seriously. "I will train you to become a true Action Star."
In the days that followed, I was drenched in sweat every day. Push-ups, sit-ups, squats, running... the various physical exercises left me utterly exhausted. To make matters worse, I also had to learn various martial arts moves and techniques.
There were times when I was so tired that I could barely lift my arms. But whenever I felt like giving up, I would think of my dreams and grit my teeth to push through.
"Xiao Ya, your progress is impressive," the coach praised, a rare compliment. "But it's not enough; we need to challenge ourselves with more difficult moves."
So, I began learning the techniques for various weapons. Swords, guns, staffs... each weapon had its unique method of use. I often practiced until my palms blistered, but I dared not stop.
One day, while practicing a complex rolling maneuver, I accidentally twisted my ankle. The sharp pain made me break out in a cold sweat, but I gritted my teeth and remained silent.
"Xiao Ya, are you okay?" the coach asked with concern.
I endured the pain and shook my head. "I'm fine; I can keep going."
The coach glanced at me and sighed. "Alright, but be careful. Injuries are a big taboo for actors."
Just then, a familiar figure appeared at the edge of the training area. It was Shen Yichen! What was he doing here?
"I heard you were training here, so I came to check on you," Shen Yichen said as he walked over and handed me a bottle of water. "You've been working hard."
I took the water, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Thank you, but I look a bit messy right now."
Shen Yichen smiled. "On the contrary, I think you look beautiful right now. Full of strength and resilience."
Hearing this warmed my heart. Although there was still some distance between us, I could feel our relationship slowly growing closer.
"By the way," Shen Yichen suddenly said, "I brought some ointment for bruises; your ankle..."
I was taken aback. "How do you know?"
"I saw it just now," Shen Yichen said softly. "Don't push yourself too hard. Take care of your injuries."
With Shen Yichen's insistence, I finally agreed to rest for a day. During this time, I began to study the script, delving into the inner world of my character.
"Director, I think this character should have more depth," I suggested during our discussion. "She’s not just a fighter; she should have her own emotions and story."
The director nodded thoughtfully. "You're right. I'll take that into consideration."
To better portray the character, I made an effort to experience life as she would. I followed real agents, learning their behaviors, observing their gazes and movements. These details would become the nourishment for shaping my role.
As the shooting date approached, I felt the pressure mounting. Would I mess up? Could I truly handle this role?
But whenever such thoughts crossed my mind, I recalled the hard work I'd put in during this time. I had invested so much; I couldn't let it all go to waste.
I looked forward to the filming of this movie, hoping to bring surprises to the audience. This was not just a challenge but also a transformation. I believed that through this experience, I would become a better actress.
Standing on set and watching the busy crew, I took a deep breath. A new challenge awaited me—I was ready!
