"It’s impossible for anyone to hack in so easily."
I said this to boost my own confidence, but deep down, I was feeling extremely anxious.
After all, Lin Bing had almost succeeded before.
And that "Digital Erasure" incident was still fresh in my mind.
Just as I was about to say something to comfort them, my phone screen suddenly lit up again.
This time it wasn’t a message; it was a system pop-up!
The red Warning sign was glaringly bright.
"Warning: An access request from an unknown source has been detected. This request has been granted temporary system-level authorization!"
Temporary authorization?!
What the hell?!
When did I ever grant authorization?!
Before I could process this, another anonymous message popped up from the same unknown sender:
"Your firewall is impressive, but unfortunately... Permission is in my hands."
"Your Cloud Storage, your photo albums, all your chat records... they’re all with me."
"Don’t believe me? Take a look at this."
Below the message, an Encrypted Video File icon was flashing, and then…
It unexpectedly began to download automatically!
The progress bar inched forward, gnawing at my nerves.
“Quick! Disconnect the internet!” Du Ran shouted, his voice cracking.
I fumbled to turn off the WiFi and switch on airplane mode.
But… it was useless!
The download progress bar continued to steadily crawl forward, seemingly ignoring all my attempts to stop it.
It’s over.
I felt a chill run through my veins.
Chen Yu was so frightened that she nearly lost her mind, clutching my arm and trembling uncontrollably.
Du Ran reacted the fastest, grabbing his laptop and frantically trying to intercept that damned download process.
But the progress bar on the screen remained stubbornly frozen, continuing its relentless advance.
“Damn it! I can’t stop it!” Du Ran cursed under his breath, sweat beading on his forehead.
Finally, the progress bar reached its end.
100%.
Download complete.
The Encrypted Video File icon lay quietly on my phone screen, like a ticking time bomb.
My heart raced like a drum.
Should I open it? Or not?
Opening it might brick my phone instantly, or worse.
Not opening it? It seemed like that wouldn't change anything either.
In the end, I gritted my teeth and tapped on it.
Loading... loading...
The video popped up.
It wasn't the virus Warning I had imagined, nor was it some horrifying scene.
Instead, it was a bunch of... programming learning materials?
The folder contained various code examples and tutorial videos, looking as serious as could be.
What was going on?
Just as the three of us exchanged puzzled glances, my phone vibrated again.
It was still from the anonymous sender:
"Hahaha! Got scared, didn't you? Just kidding!"
"Who told you to always doubt me? Just playing around, testing your reaction speed~"
"These materials are quite good; I'm sharing them for your study."
Is this a joke???
Are they messing with us???
My tense nerves instantly relaxed, but then a surge of anger shot to my head.
Du Ran couldn't hold back and directly vented into the air:
"Lin Bing! Are you out of your mind? Is this the kind of joke you can just throw around?!"
Before long, Lin Bing's video call request popped up.
Once connected, the screen displayed Lin Bing's slightly smug face.
"Hey, don't be mad! I just wanted to get back at you for doubting me earlier today."
"Besides, I really just wanted to share some good stuff with you!"
She pointed at the screen, "Look, it's the latest AI programming tutorial that I organized myself."
