When I woke up again, I found myself tightly bound to a hard wooden chair. Zhao Mingcheng was sitting across from me at a large redwood desk; this was clearly his office, meaning it was the hideout of his criminal organization. 0

Several burly men stood beside Zhao Mingcheng, including the young man who had brought me here, still wearing a smile on his face. "Li Jisheng, you old fool, you really have some guts to go after us," Zhao Mingcheng sneered. 0

I looked him in the eye. "Mr. Zhao, I'm just a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. What are you talking about?" 0

Zhao Mingcheng leaned back in his chair, his hands crossed on the desk. "You're not just any ordinary practitioner. Under your treatment, Chen Guiyuan suffered from kidney failure; Wang Dewang is completely paralyzed; Gu Fang's face is ruined beyond repair and she developed severe depression after several major hospitals failed to help her. She committed suicide yesterday and is still in the hospital fighting for her life. And then there's me..." 0

"Bring me over," Zhao Mingcheng ordered one of the men beside him. 0

A man in a wheelchair was pushed in front of me. Under the lights, his complexion looked even worse than the last time I saw him. Zhao Mingcheng gripped the armrests tightly, his legs weakly resting on the footrests, with noticeable swelling and deformity at his knuckles and knees. 0

"Ever since I took your medicine and drank that ridiculous health tea..." Zhao Mingcheng gritted his teeth, "my liver cirrhosis has worsened significantly. My joints are swollen and painful; I can hardly walk! I can't even sleep!" 0

A rush of exhilaration surged through me. Good! Thankfully, I had increased the dosage last time; otherwise, I might not have completed my revenge against Zhao Mingcheng in time. "Mr. Zhao, as the saying goes, all medicine has some toxicity..." 0

Suddenly, he slapped me across the face. "Don't play dumb with me! Do you think I don't know what you've been up to these past few months?" 0

The blow left me dizzy, my mouth filled with the taste of blood. Then he began to laugh—a deep, chilling sound that resonated from deep within his throat. As he laughed, Zhao Mingcheng pulled out a photograph. 0

My pupils dilated; it was Ke Ke! "This girl, Su Ke, is your granddaughter, right? A beautiful graduate student from Port City Medical University. What a shame; I wanted to keep her around for a few more days for some fun, but Wang Dewang and Chen Guiyuan insisted that I deal with her quickly." 0

"You beasts! I'll kill you all!" I screamed in rage, my eyes bloodshot as the ropes dug painfully into my flesh while I struggled with all my might. 0

"Old man, save your strength!" Zhao Mingcheng continued to grin widely. "Do you think this will help you avenge Su Ke? Not a chance! Let me tell you—we're not going to die! We can trade for any organs we want!" 0

He leaned closer, staring into my eyes. "In the end, only your granddaughter and you will die." 0

"But," Zhao Mingcheng's tone shifted abruptly, "Li Jisheng, I know you want to live a few more years, right? Be smart and hand over the antidote; I might consider sparing your life." 0

I remained silent, glaring at him with hatred. 0

Zhao Mingcheng shrugged. "Looks like you're not going to shed tears until you see the coffin." He waved at a muscular man nearby, who quickly landed a heavy punch into my abdomen. 0

At over seventy years old, my body could hardly withstand such a blow. In an instant, it felt like my internal organs were shattering; blood trickled from the corner of my mouth as I hunched over desperately trying to catch my breath. 0

"One last time, where is the antidote?" 0

Zhao Mingcheng waved his hand, and the smiling young man stepped forward, brandishing a gleaming dagger aimed at my throat. 0

I struggled to lift my head, meeting Zhao Mingcheng's gaze, and stammered, "Do you... think there will be an antidote?" 0

"When you harmed my Ke Ke and killed those... innocent donors and patients, you should have thought that there would always be... retribution!" 0

Zhao Mingcheng's expression changed dramatically. He leaned heavily against the back of his wheelchair, gasping as he said, "Damn old fool, do you think you've won? I will find a way to keep living, while you... are about to die!" 0

He pulled a gun from his pocket, awkwardly gripping it with his deformed fingers, and pointed it at my forehead. 0

I closed my eyes, Ke Ke's smiling face flashing through my mind. 0

"Bang!" 0

After the deafening gunshot, the anticipated pain never came. Instead, I heard the sound of SWAT breaking down the door, commands ringing out as Zhao Mingcheng's men fell into chaos; some attempted to resist while others fled in panic. 0

I was astonished to see everything before me moving in slow motion like a movie, with only two people remaining still amidst the turmoil: me and Zhao Mingcheng. 0

Zhao Mingcheng's eyes widened as he slumped in his wheelchair, a pool of crimson spreading across his chest, the handgun falling from his grasp. 0

I looked up at the skylight in the ceiling as a beam of morning light poured in; this long night had finally come to an end. 0

In the midst of the chaos, I spotted a familiar figure standing behind SWAT, looking at me with concern. 0

It was Xiao Lin. 0

It seemed she had received my email. 0

A week ago, I had sent an email to Xiao Lin using Ke Ke's account. In that email, I told her she was a good kid and that Ke Ke's death was not her fault; I hoped she wouldn't feel guilty or sad because of it. I also confessed all my vengeful actions during that time; those scoundrels had received their punishment and wouldn't live much longer. She was safe now and no longer needed to live in fear. 0

This email was both my confession and a comfort for Xiao Lin. At the end of the message, I expressed my hope that she could send me the information she had previously gathered with Ke Ke so that I could complete the final reporting process. 0

To my surprise, Xiao Lin managed to overcome her fears. The day after receiving the email, she returned to Port City. 0

Xiao Lin brought with her a wealth of materials and evidence gathered during her investigation with Ke Ke, and she went alone to the Port City Bureau to report the illegal organ trafficking case. Based on the clues provided by Xiao Lin, the police had been conducting a covert investigation over the past few days and had essentially confirmed the involvement of Wang Dewang, Chen Guiyuan, Gu Fang, and Zhao Mingcheng in this illegal organ trafficking ring. 0

The police were ready to take action. However, it was difficult to arrest the four main suspects at that moment. Chen Guiyuan had succumbed to multiple organ failure and had died. Wang Dewang was completely paralyzed, unable to care for himself or speak. Gu Fang had committed suicide after being disfigured and was still in a deep coma. Zhao Mingcheng had been shot dead by the police earlier. 0

Despite this, the police had thoroughly dismantled the illegal organ trafficking network, uncovering five other doctors directly involved in the case and dozens of intermediaries. Zhao Mingcheng's criminal organization had also been eradicated. This bloody autumn was finally coming to an end. 0

For the police, my confession regarding this case, which I had sent to Xiao Lin via email, was already quite clear. Next, they needed to formally summon me to verify the relevant evidence. After I was rescued and returned, I announced the closure of Li Hetang and granted Xiao Liu and the others some time off. Therefore, when the city bureau's detectives arrived at Li Hetang, they found it locked up and empty. 0

Meanwhile, at the Suburban Cemetery, I sat before Ke Ke's grave, holding a damp cloth as I gently wiped the tombstone. "A lot has happened during this time. Grandpa has found those who hurt you; they have received their due punishment." I spoke slowly in the tone I used when telling her stories as a child. "Do you know? Xiao Lin is back. She was very brave and stood up to expose those bad people; you must be so proud of her." 0

A gentle breeze rustled through the leaves. I folded the damp cloth and set it aside, pulling a white pill from my pocket and swallowing it with a tilt of my head. "Ke Ke, Grandpa misses you so much; I'll be with you soon, just wait for me." 0

I leaned against the tombstone and closed my eyes. 0

In the distance, the sound of sirens echoed, but I could no longer hear them. 0

Everything fell into silence. 0
