However, during my investigation, I was unexpectedly discovered and knocked unconscious with a single jab... 0
When I woke up, I found that I had been implanted with the personality of a twisted serial killer! 0
And they want to use this to blackmail me? 0
Very well, just wait and see—don't blame me for being rude! 0

"Welcome to visit us again!" 0
The receptionist at the entrance wore a smile so fake it was nauseating. 0
I snatched my bag from her hands and stumbled out of the Mind Reshaping clinic. 0
The cold wind hit my face, but it couldn't bring me back to reality. 0
That man's chilling words echoed in my ears: " Journalist Li, you now carry the personality of a twisted serial killer within you. Do you dare let anyone know?" 0
A wave of intense nausea surged up my throat, and I bent over to vomit, but all that came out was bile. 0
Dragging my heavy legs through the streets, I felt the stares of passersby piercing me. Did they know that a deranged murderer was hidden inside me? 0
I dared not meet anyone's gaze, fearing they would see through my secret. 0
Lost and disoriented, I didn't know where to go; my thoughts drifted back to two weeks ago... 0

My name is Li Li, and I am an investigative journalist. 0
I've been a reporter for five years—long enough to see through many things and understand the warmth and coldness of this world. 0
I'm not an idealist, nor do I have any hero complex. Being an investigative journalist is merely a way for me to realize my own value or, rather, to find a place for myself in this cruel world. 0

Today, I sat in the corner of the café as promised. My informant, Old Zhou, was late, which was unusual for him. Just as I was considering whether to leave, he pushed the door open, drenched in sweat and with a panicked look in his eyes. 0

" Reporter Li, I'm late. I... I think I've been followed," Old Zhou whispered, sitting down across from me with a look of alarm. 0

My heart tightened. "Followed? Are you sure?" 0

He shook his head, wiping the sweat from his forehead while his gaze darted toward the window. "Not sure, but I took a few extra turns just in case. Reporter Li, this situation is too big; I'm... I'm afraid that once I finish talking, I might not make it out alive." 0

I poured him a glass of water. "Calm down and take your time. I'm listening." 0

Old Zhou took a deep breath, leaned closer to me, and whispered, "There's an underground black market dealing in personality trading. If you have money, you can buy the intelligence of a genius or the courage of a hero—just by implanting a chip." 0

I was stunned, my mind struggling to process this information. "What on earth? How is that even possible?" 0

"I saw it with my own eyes!" Old Zhou's voice trembled slightly. "But I've heard that once that chip is implanted in your brain, it can't be removed. Trying to take it out will kill you!" 0

My head buzzed; this news was too shocking. If it were true, it would be earth-shattering news! 0

"Do you have any evidence, Old Zhou?" 0

He shook his head. "No evidence, but I know a place—it's said to be a high-end clinic specializing in personality implantation." 0

I quickly took out my phone and noted down every detail he provided. 0

"Thank you, Old Zhou. This information is indeed too dangerous; you should leave Gangcheng immediately and hide out somewhere else. I'll transfer money to your account." 0

He nodded and hurriedly got up to leave. 0
