After producing a sufficient amount of the powder, Lin Mingchang began to arrange the next steps. He called in twenty officers from the Police Station to distribute the powder, dividing them into five teams led by locals familiar with the terrain to ensure coverage of all nearby villages. 0

After a day and night of effort, the outbreak was finally brought under control. Many villagers came to Fang's Restoration Hall to thank Fang Zigui. An elderly woman even attempted to kneel and bow to Fang Zigui, grateful for saving her entire family, but he quickly helped her up. 0

On the evening of the fourth day, the four finally returned to the clinic, where a simple dinner awaited them—bowls of clear noodle soup and plates of pickled vegetables. 0

"Finally, we can catch our breath; I’m exhausted..." Ruan Xiaoshuang stretched lazily. She had been busy packaging the powder and had hardly taken a break. 0

Lin Mingchang took a few bites of his noodles and paused, "When Xiaoshuang found out about the plague in Yu Family Village ten years ago, I couldn’t help but think that it coincided with my father's disappearance. I suspect he was investigating that strange epidemic at the time." 0

Shen Tong replied, "Unfortunately, many clues from ten years ago have been lost..." 0

Lin Mingchang looked at Shen Tong, "Since it’s this Gui Xu Society causing trouble, we shouldn’t worry about lacking leads. They’ve been very active lately; we’ve dealt with them more than once. I believe this plague could be a breakthrough." 0

Fang Zigui added, "The source of our investigation is Qi Yun Temple; the well is right in their backyard. It’s impossible that it has no connection to the Taoists there. I suspect that someone from within Qi Yun Temple is involved in releasing the insects." 0

Lin Mingchang nodded in agreement, "Let’s rest well tonight and head to Qi Yun Temple first thing tomorrow morning. We also need to deal with that well." 0

The morning at Qi Yun Temple was shrouded in mist. Lin Mingchang had arranged for officers to guard it for several days, making it very quiet. The four first arrived at the well in the backyard, where a cordon had been set up around the wellhead. 0

Fang Zigui stepped forward and poured the prepared powder into the well. It wasn’t until all the bluish-purple miasma disappeared that Shen Tong nodded, "Alright, we can lift the blockade on this well now." 0

After completing this step, Lin Mingchang turned to the officers behind him: "Notify Guanzhu and the Taoists that we are going to search the entire temple." 0

As they entered the front courtyard, two Young Taoists were cleaning up. Upon hearing about the search, they exchanged glances and hurried off to inform Guanzhu. 0

Lin Mingchang arranged for Guanzhu and four Young Taoists to be placed in the main hall under close watch. They all appeared calm; it seemed unlikely anyone would speak without concrete evidence being found. 0

Searching Qi Yun Temple was not easy; it was spacious and Lin Mingchang had few personnel. Fortunately, he had Shen Tong with him. While everyone searched separately, Shen Tong wandered around inside the temple. 0

As she passed by a side hall where the Young Taoists lived, Shen Tong suddenly stopped. Behind that hall was a small Beilin area, where a stone tablet was surrounded by a large mass of swirling blue-purple mist. 0

"Lin Mingchang! Over here!" 0

Lin Mingchang had been waiting for Shen Tong's call, and he arrived so quickly that Shen Tong couldn't help but suspect he had been following her all along. 0

Under Shen Tong's guidance, Lin Mingchang dug out a small wooden box from beneath the stone tablet. Inside the box were several glass vials containing a blue liquid, filled with countless tiny white particles, as well as a packet of black powder. 0

After Fang Zigui examined the contents, he identified the vials as containing Zhangqi Gu Chong's cocoon, while the black powder was likely some kind of catalyst that altered water quality. 0

As Lin Mingchang entered the main hall with the box in hand, his eyes were fixed intently on the expressions of several Taoists. 0
