Fang Zigui quickly jogged to the door, while Lin Mingchang strode into the courtyard and closed the door behind him.
"What happened? Why are you so late?" Shen Tong asked, frowning.
"After I arranged for the personnel, I made a quick trip home," Lin Mingchang replied rapidly. "Someone broke into my house and rummaged through my things. That person was very skilled and left almost no traces."
Xiaoshuang instinctively grabbed Fang Zigui's hand. "Was it the Gui Xu Society? Could it be... they have already caught wind of our actions?"
"No, quite the opposite," Lin Mingchang analyzed. "The Gui Xu Society's actions... actually make me feel a bit reassured. The failure of the Double-Line Raid was likely just a coincidence, coinciding with their withdrawal. If they truly understood our plans, they wouldn't go to the trouble of sneaking into my house..."
The three nodded in agreement, finding Lin Mingchang's analysis quite reasonable, their hearts feeling slightly more at ease.
Once everything was tidied up, the four of them climbed into Lin Mingchang's car and quietly drove towards the northern part of the city under the cover of night.
Half an hour later, Lin Mingchang's car stopped in a desolate area in the north of the city—this was the piece of land that had drawn attention from various parties.
This land had not been developed or maintained for years and was now overgrown with weeds.
Lin Mingchang turned off the headlights, and the four of them quietly got out of the car, their feet crunching softly on the grass.
The moonlight was faint, barely outlining the desolate surroundings.
"Look, there's a flashlight signal over there," Lin Mingchang whispered, pointing to a small mound about fifty meters ahead. "It's Li Zheng and his team."
They quickly navigated through the thicket, and behind the mound, all the brothers who had participated in the Double-Line Raid were already gathered.
Li Zheng, who had arrived early, had quietly searched the area and discovered a dark hole behind the mound, where messy footprints were still visible.
This was a theft tunnel.
It seemed that both the Gui Xu Society and the Foreigner tomb raiding gang had already begun excavating ahead of time.
"The Gui Xu Society got here first," Lin Mingchang said in a low voice.
Just as everyone prepared to enter, Shen Tong suddenly spoke up to stop them; she had keenly sensed a menacing red aura swirling around the entrance of the tunnel.
"There are traps set inside the tunnel; they are on guard."
Lin Mingchang nodded and drew his handgun, chambering a round. "I'll lead; Shen Tong will follow me and keep an eye out for traps. The rest stay behind and maintain your distance."
He bent down and cautiously made his way toward the tunnel entrance.
The tunnel was narrow and cramped, barely high enough for an adult to crawl through.
Lin Mingchang led the way, with Shen Tong closely following behind. The soil on both sides occasionally crumbled, creating a sense that the walls could collapse at any moment.
"Be careful," Shen Tong suddenly said, gently pulling on Lin Mingchang's arm and pointing to the ground near his feet. "There’s a tripwire here."
Lin Mingchang shone his flashlight down, squinting as he finally discerned the thin line that almost blended into the darkness. In this position, such a fine black wire would be nearly impossible for an ordinary person to notice; it was fortunate that Shen Tong was there.
He pulled a small knife from his calf and swiftly cut through the wire, which snapped with a faint sound.
The group crawled in succession, passing through a tunnel that stretched over ten meters before entering a passage where they could finally stand upright.
This must be the space of an ancient tomb; the walls were no longer bare earth but were instead paved with blue stone bricks. Several flashlights illuminated the brick walls, revealing that they were densely etched with strange runes.
