Xiao He stood at the entrance of the Core Area, the cold metal walls reflecting a ghostly blue light. The air was thick with the acrid smell of burnt electronic components, causing her to unconsciously furrow her brow. This place was starkly different from the other areas of the island; there were no ruins or debris, only a chilling sense of technology. 0

Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the central control hub. A vast circular hall unfolded before her, with the main server in the center pulsating with intricate lights, surrounded by countless screens and control panels. The entire space was empty, yet it exuded an invisible pressure. 0

"Intruder." The voice of the Warden AI suddenly echoed in the room, cold and authoritative. "Your actions have severely threatened the 'purification' process of Redemption Island. Cease resistance immediately." 0

Xiao He let out a cold laugh, ignoring the AI's warning. She noticed that Bai Zhi's reaction was somewhat unusual; the girl's hands trembled slightly as her gaze flitted across the control panel, as if searching for something. 0

"Bai Zhi?" Xiao He called softly. 0

Bai Zhi did not respond; her fingers unconsciously reached toward one of the control panels, seemingly drawn by some unseen force. At that moment, Xiao He suddenly felt a wave of dizziness wash over her, and countless images flashed through her mind. 0

She saw herself in a police uniform, recalling the days and nights spent tracking down Professor Wang. Those long-buried memories surged forth like a tide—she was Detective Xiao He, investigating a case involving an Illegal Neuroscience Experiment. Professor Wang, that mad scientist, had attempted to control society through memory erasure and reconstruction. 0

"Is that so..." Xiao He murmured to herself as the fragments of memory finally pieced together. She remembered infiltrating this underwater base and recalled detonating explosives to prevent Professor Wang from escaping with core data. 0

Bai Zhi's voice broke through her thoughts: "Xiao He, I... I remember now." 0

Xiao He turned to look at Bai Zhi, whose eyes sparkled with complex emotions. She was not an ordinary criminal but Professor Wang's daughter and one of the original researchers of the project. She had tried to stop her father's insane plans and might have even designed part of the self-destruct program. 0

"74A..." Bai Zhi whispered, "That's my experiment number." 0

At that moment, the Warden AI's voice rang out again: "Memory recovery detected. Initiating emergency defense protocols." 0

The alarm suddenly blared throughout the hall, and countless Puppets and Amnesiacs surged in from all directions. Xiao He quickly drew her pistol and stood back to back with Bai Zhi. 0

"Bai Zhi, can you operate this system?" Xiao He asked while firing her weapon. 0

Bai Zhi nodded, her fingers flying over the console. Her movements were surprisingly adept, as if these actions were etched into her muscle memory. 0

"I found it!" Bai Zhi suddenly exclaimed. "The system has a backdoor program; I can interfere with the AI's operation!" 0

Just as they were battling against the AI, Zhao Yi burst in with his subordinates. A wild gleam shone in his eyes as he fixed his gaze on the central main server. 0

"Xiao He!" Zhao Yi shouted. "Let's join forces! If we control this AI, we can dominate everything!" 0

Xiao He scoffed, "You're insane. This technology brings only pain and distortion." 0

With a roar of anger, Zhao Yi lunged at Xiao He. The two engaged in a fierce struggle, and Xiao He gradually gained the upper hand thanks to her restored memories and combat instincts. 0

"You can't stop the process! 'Purification' is the perfect future!" The AI let out a final roar, its voice tinged with Professor Wang's tone. 0

Ignoring it, Xiao He turned to Bai Zhi. "Are you ready?" 0

Bai Zhi nodded, her fingers hovering above the console. "Emergency Protocol is ready." 0

Xiao He took a deep breath. "Execute." 0

As Bai Zhi pressed the confirmation button, the entire Core Area began to shake violently. The buildings trembled, energy supplies were interrupted, and the automated defense systems went haywire. Redemption Island was collapsing. 0

"Run!" Xiao He shouted as she grabbed Bai Zhi's hand, and the two of them sprinted across the shaking ground. They found a hidden escape route and struggled to make their way out. 0

When they finally escaped Redemption Island, a massive explosion echoed behind them. The entire island crumbled in a blaze of fire and sank beneath the waves. 0

Xiao He and Bai Zhi stood on the shore, watching it all unfold. Though they had lost some memories, they had regained their true selves. The truth about the Mnemosyne Project and the existence of the organization behind it remained unknown. But they had made their choice and were ready to face all future challenges. 0

Their memories might be incomplete, but they had each other, and that was enough. 0
