Mings walked straight into the large stone house of Old Corpse Head and yanked the black cloth off the stone table. "If he left three little figures for a face, then he must have a purpose for leaving two wooden boxes as well!" 0

Shao Wen chimed in, "I remember that in You Lai Inn, its windows were tightly shut, but it seems there's a crack showing in the window of this box!" 0

Mings used a small knife to slowly pry open the tiny crack, revealing something sticky on the back of the window. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a piece of blue bird feather. 0

Beside them, Xiao Ning said, "The second wooden box also has a window!" 0

This time, each of the two windows on the carriage had a small piece of blue bird feather stuck to them. 0

Mings gathered the three pieces of blue feathers together and said, "This is what the murderer left for us." 0

"What do these feathers mean? What do they represent?" Shao Wen tilted his head in thought. 0

"They represent death!" Shao Wen was startled again and turned to look; Old Corpse Head was already standing behind the three of them. 0

Old Corpse Head gazed at them and said calmly, "I remember that in Miaojiang, there is a mysterious religion. They proclaim that human life began with birds soaring proudly in the sky. A single fallen feather represents the beginning of a soul, which signifies the end of life—death!" 0

Shao Wen seemed to understand and said, "Three feathers, three dead people. Yes, that's what it means!" 0

Old Corpse Head shook his head slightly. "Perhaps not just three. I found something very interesting in Guan Ao's blood—this." 0

Old Corpse Head took out a black cloth pouch that had a small silver piece on each side, with several nearly invisible fine threads secured by black glue. 0

Old Corpse Head continued, "These threads were not present in the internal organs of the corpse earlier. It seems they have flowed down along with the blood. They are incredibly tough yet soft, unlike ordinary threads. I need to ponder this further, so I won't hand it over to you just yet." 0

As dusk fell, Mings' men stationed at Bu Dong Mountain Manor returned, their faces marked by fear. 0

Mings hurriedly asked, "Did something happen at Bu Dong Mountain Manor?" 0

The leading Little Constable thought for a moment and replied, "Actually, since Captain Ming left, Bu Dong Mountain Manor has been eerily quiet. It's just... too quiet. My brothers and I feel as if there’s not even a hint of life left. What’s stranger is that a faint smell of blood is wafting from Bu Dong Mountain Manor. I felt something was off and decided to report back to Captain." 0

Mings quickly led the constables to Bu Dong Mountain Manor. 0

As the sun set, the remnants of twilight cast a shadow over the manor, resembling an irreversible descent. 0

Suddenly, the large gate of Bu Dong Mountain Manor creaked open slightly on its own. 0

Mings caught sight of a pool of black blood smeared at the entrance and rushed inside. 0

The black blood had already congealed. Following its trail, Mings found that it spread throughout the manor, extending into every corner! 0

Holding his breath, Mings suddenly exclaimed, "Something's wrong; besides the smell of blood in the air, there's another scent—fire?" 0

No sooner had he spoken than black smoke began to rise from various parts of the manor. 0

The smoke quickly billowed up, accompanied by cries for help and screams. Shao Wen hurriedly called for the other constables to extinguish the flames, but water only fueled the fire further instead of putting it out. 0

Mings stared in astonishment at the flames, noticing faint wisps of black fire rising within. He shook his head and gritted his teeth, saying, "This is definitely not ordinary fire. It seems that common methods of extinguishing it won't work; we must find the arsonist." 0
