“Survival of the Fittest,” a police officer said.
In the underwater office, officers often witnessed various creatures engaged in brutal battles. Yet, these scenes were far more straightforward compared to the human version of survival of the fittest.
Humans are always wrapped in various forms of greed.
As everyone was stunned by the sight of sharks preying on dolphins, a bass voice broke through the meeting room: “What is this?” The speaker was Hai Hao.
At some point, Hai Hao had wheeled Tang Xuan's body out from the autopsy room. He turned the body over, revealing a tattoo. It was adorned with strange symbols:
“Ah!” Forensic expert Lu Yanxue exclaimed in surprise, “When I performed the dissection, these tattoos weren’t present.”
“Are you saying these tattoos appeared after your dissection?” Hai Hao asked.
Hai Hao initially thought Lu Yanxue had simply overlooked the tattoo.
Lu Yanxue replied, “Yes. When I conducted the autopsy, I only noticed a faint line of blue markings behind his head; there were no clear patterns like this.”
“What do these patterns mean?” Min Di couldn’t help but ask.
“I don’t know. They could be some ancient script, or a language from another planet, or perhaps just meaningless designs,” Hai Hao said.
“How did you know there would be tattoos behind Tang Xuan's head?” Lu Yanxue questioned Hai Hao.
"I did a quick search on Tang Xuan," Hai Hao said. "Ten years ago, Tang Xuan and his parents were involved in a car accident at an intersection. His parents died on the spot, but he miraculously survived. I input his DNA into the computer system and retrieved two profiles. Not only did I get Tang Xuan's information, but I also found a person named Du Fansheng. This Du Fansheng has the same DNA as Tang Xuan. Interestingly, can you guess how that car accident happened?"
"If it happened at an intersection, it's likely that two cars collided," Min Di replied.
Hai Hao nodded and continued, "The driver who crashed into Tang Xuan's family was this Du Fansheng."
"Could they be twins? Only twins would have the same DNA," one officer asked.
"I've never seen such twins," Hai Hao said as he activated the 3D screen.
A wrinkled man appeared on the screen, looking at least sixty years old.
In contrast, the deceased Tang Xuan was in his prime.
"Could someone have illegally cloned him?" another officer asked in astonishment.
Countries around the world have already signed treaties prohibiting human cloning. However, just like lice on a bald head, it is evident that there have been treaties against nuclear weapons proliferation that are difficult to enforce.
Thus, illegal cloning cannot be entirely ruled out.
However, cloning humans requires specific locations, substantial funding, and technical expertise—something an average person cannot achieve. If this is indeed a cloning case, then the implications behind it would be complex.
"Du Fansheng does not live in this city; he resides over a thousand kilometers away in S City. What's even stranger is that Du Fansheng worked at a robotics repair facility before his death. One morning, he suddenly took leave from work and never returned after his vacation ended. Du Fansheng had no relatives; his wife passed away from cervical cancer several years ago. His colleagues immediately reported his absence to the police."
After the investigation, the police discovered that Du Fansheng had immediately rented a car capable of speeds up to 800 kilometers per hour after leaving the company. He drove over a thousand kilometers to the city and collided with Tang Xuan's family vehicle at exactly three o'clock in an open intersection.
"How strange!" Everyone couldn't help but think.
"Did Du Fansheng have any contact with Tang Xuan before the accident? Do they know each other?" asked Chief Si Guanyu.
Hai Hao replied, "They are complete strangers and have naturally never been in contact. They live in different cities. According to colleagues at the company, Du Fansheng is friendly and cheerful, with no signs of any mental illness."
"Hai Hao, you still haven't answered my question," Min Di reminded him. "How do you know that Tang Xuan has a tattoo on the back of her head?"
