"Using marijuana has not yet been deemed illegal," Kuwah Lane argued. 0

"Importing marijuana is controlled by the authorities, so smuggling it is definitely illegal. Besides, if I catch those on the list and interrogate them, word will get out. How will you manage after that?" 0

Kuwah Lane hesitated for a moment before conceding, "Alright, I can tell you where to buy a gun that fires Ice Bullets. But I have a condition." 0

"Go ahead. If Kuwah Lane doesn't set conditions, then it's really not Kuwah Lane," he replied. 0

"Leave my private marijuana dealings alone, and give that little boy a real identity," Kuwah Lane said. 0

Hai Hao smiled slightly and said, "That's two conditions." With that, he pulled an envelope from his pocket and tossed it to Kuwah Lane. 0

When she opened it, inside was the boy's legal identification and social security number. 0

"You?" 0

"I told you, I know you inside out. Now, where can I buy an Ice Bullet Gun?" 0

After Kuwah Lane provided the contact details and methods, she watched as Hai Hao left. Her intuition told her that even if she hadn't made her demands today, this officer named Hai Hao would still help her. 0

She also knew that Hai Hao was already aware that she had smuggled herself over from the Four Alliance Planet and that the little boy was her biological son. 0

What puzzled her was Hai Hao's motivation for helping her. Was it merely to obtain information about the Ice Bullets? Smuggling marijuana was already enough leverage. 0

Why? 0

Only Hai Hao knew the answer. He sensed a mysterious aura about Kuwah Lane. It was like the cool, clear waters of an autumn stream, emanating from her. 0

His deceased wife had possessed this same refreshing aura. Hai Hao did not feel romantic love for Kuwah Lane; he simply longed for that clarity and coolness. 0

Following Kuwah Lane's directions, Hai Hao arrived at a city park. The park was lush with greenery. As soon as he entered, he was approached by an Indian-dressed Snake Charmer. 0

He wanted Hai Hao to give his Cobra some alms. Eager to rid himself of the situation, Hai Hao pulled out some change for him. The Snake Charmer expressed his gratitude profusely, pulling out a lifelike plastic snake and a flyer from his pocket as a token of appreciation. 0

While waiting on a bench for his contact, Hai Hao opened the flyer. It was printed in low-quality ink with a string of words: "Human Life and Death is a Calamity." 0

One calamity equals Four Billion Three Hundred Twenty Million Years. We have three days left. 0

"What a load of nonsense," Hai Hao muttered, crumpling the paper into a ball and tossing it into the nearby trash can. 0

Inside the trash can lay an abandoned newspaper from that very day, dated December 28, 4,319,999,999. 0

At that moment, a man in a trench coat appeared in Hai Hao's line of sight. 0

Hai Hao crossed his left leg over his right and leaned back. The man in the trench coat sat down beside him. 0

Hai Hao took out a lighter, playing with it in his palm, flicking it on and off occasionally. 0

The man turned his face slightly, and Hai Hao caught sight of a very young face—no more than twelve years old; he was still just a child. 0

A chill ran through Hai Hao. The age of criminals was getting younger. 0

The boy asked with surprising maturity, "Uncle, out of cigarettes?" 0

Hai Hao nodded. 0

The boy tilted his head, signaling for him to follow. 0

Hai Hao followed him out of the park to an alley where an old car was parked. Another boy, also around twelve years old, emerged from inside. 0

He held a booklet filled with designs for Ice Bullet Guns. 0

They urged Hai Hao to choose one. Then they began to negotiate the price. 0

After several rounds of bargaining, both parties finally reached an agreement. The boy opened the trunk and took out an Ice Bullet Gun. 0

As Hai Hao paid, he remarked, "You're out here hustling at such a young age?" 0

The little boy ignored him. 0

Hai Hao shrugged and asked, "If I want to buy more, who should I contact?" 0

These two boys were definitely not the main culprits. 0

"We are," the little boy said flatly as he counted the money. 0

His voice was still quite tender, not yet having reached the age of voice change. 0

Hai Hao felt a pang in his heart. He suddenly remembered the little snake that an Indian had given him. He pulled it out of his pocket and handed it to the little boy. 0

The other lookout kid was also drawn over. They both accepted the snake, smiles spreading across their faces. 0

That smile made Hai Hao's heart ache even more. 0

It was a smile that belonged to children. 0
