In the banknotes used for payment, extremely tiny trackers and listening devices were installed, invisible to the naked eye.
It wouldn't be long before it became clear who the main culprit behind the sale of the Ice Bullet Gun was.
But who was the buyer? Who shot Tang Xuan? And why?
After the two children drove away, Hai Hao emerged from his hiding spot and climbed into a van that was repairing wires.
Inside the vehicle were tracking devices and surveillance systems.
Aside from one staff member, the Snake Charmer was also seated inside. He was wiping off the black face paint with a tissue.
Hai Hao chuckled and said, "You disguised yourself quite well. The little snake act was on point. But that flyer was a bit over the top. What does it mean?"
"The content on the flyer was downloaded from a website. It's called comprehensive disguise," joked the officer disguised as an Indian.
At that moment, the van started up and followed the Old Car all the way to a standalone Two-Story Building in the suburbs.
Along the way, the children discussed which snake was the most venomous, completely ignoring any mention of Ice Bullets, as if they had just returned from a zoo rather than finishing an illegal arms deal.
Hai Hao and his team remained still in the vehicle. They heard the boys stop the car and enter the house, followed by a voice saying, "Bro, here’s your money."
A mature male voice asked, "You two didn’t pocket any, did you?"
The sound of a young boy replied, "Bro, how could we dare? That would be like asking for death."
Suddenly, a loud slap echoed through the listening device, and the man referred to as "Brother" shouted, "Pack your things, we need to leave quickly!"
"What's going on, Brother?"
"There’s something in this money!"
They immediately got out of the car and approached the small building, cornering the three individuals at the door.
This time, the officers not only dismantled a trafficking ring involved with Ice Bullet Guns but also had the three individuals identify buyers from the population database.
Many buyers were identified by the three, and surprisingly, most of them were ordinary-looking office workers. One in particular caught Hai Hao's attention. He printed out the man's photo and placed it in front of each of the three for further confirmation.
They all nodded in agreement.
The person in the photo was Du Fansheng, who had died in a car accident many years ago.
Meanwhile, Min Di led a team of officers to search Tang Xuan's residence. Aside from finding some promotional materials, there were no clues beneficial to the case. Tang Xuan was unmarried, had no girlfriend, and no other relatives in the city.
Min Di also met with the teachers at the orphanage where the little girl Yu Feifei stayed. Perhaps due to her eyes, Yu Feifei had been abandoned at the gates of the orphanage.
Also because of her eyes, no family was willing to adopt her. The orphanage raised her instead. The teachers all said that although Yu Feifei was blind, she was bright-hearted and cheerful.
Min Di did not uncover any other leads.
In order to solve the case quickly, the police department deployed ample manpower to investigate the other participants of the demonstration.
After compiling all the results, a unanimous conclusion was reached: they first heard a gunshot, followed by Tang Xuan shouting, "Everyone be careful!"
Then chaos erupted as everyone jumped out of their cars to escape, and three more gunshots rang out.
Initially, they thought it was the police coming to make arrests.
"So, you're saying that while everyone was fleeing for their lives, Tang Xuan was still alive?" Min Di asked, putting down the report in his hands.
"Yes," Hai Hao replied.
"Then the first gunshot everyone heard didn't hit Tang Xuan; it was aimed at the little girl, and only then was Tang Xuan shot. This means the girl was the target."
Min Di grew increasingly puzzled. "But who would want to assassinate a little girl on skates?"
"Exactly. What motive could there be for killing Yu Feifei? She's an orphan and blind. Who would have a reason to kill her?" Hai Hao said, equally baffled.
"This is the most baffling case I've ever encountered."
Min Di shook his head with a sigh. "I really don't know what to do next."
