Chi Mingyu sat at his workstation, the scene from last night replaying in his mind. He wondered if it was just an illusion, but he had indeed developed an inexplicable feeling for Bai Wenyan.
Chi Mingyu thought to himself, "How could I have different feelings for someone I've only known for two days? Besides, he's a bad guy who kidnapped and threatened me."
At home, Bai Wenyan looked like a little housekeeper, tidying up the place and cleaning.
Just then, his phone rang. He gently set down the tools in his hands and looked at the caller ID before answering.
He clenched his fist in anger and said to the person on the other end of the line, "Tell Cheng Xi that if it happens again, he should take responsibility himself."
"Enough of this. I’ll handle it myself; don’t scare him."
After finishing his call, Bai Wenyan put the phone in his pocket. The anger flashing in his eyes made him less rational.
His wounds had not fully healed, and after taking a cold shower last night, they were starting to show signs of inflammation.
At the hospital, Bai Wenyan had been repeatedly warned by the doctor not to get them wet. Looking at the medication in his hand, he seemed lost in thought.
That day he called Cheng Bei and also investigated Chi Mingyu. Listening to Cheng Bei talk about Chi Mingyu, he showed no visible emotion. Since he was out today, he decided to check out where Chi Mingyu worked.
In the office, Chi Mingyu was being praised by his boss: "Mingyu's proposal this time is excellent; everyone should learn from Mingyu."
Hearing this, Chi Mingyu felt a bit at a loss.
Faced with his boss's praise, he was also inexperienced. In fact, this proposal was just a sudden idea that came to him.
"By the way, Mingyu. A partner wants to meet you shortly, so come with me."
His boss's words surprised Chi Mingyu greatly. Chi Mingyu considered himself an ordinary person, with abilities that were not particularly outstanding. Receiving his boss's compliment felt like pure luck. How could there be someone more impressive wanting to meet him?
As Chi Mingyu pondered this, they had already reached the door. His boss knocked.
A clear voice came from inside: "Come in."
Chi Mingyu timidly followed his boss inside, lowering his head even further as soon as he entered.
" old lady Bai, this is Chi Mingyu," his boss said obsequiously.
"Lift your head. Am I that scary?" the voice replied briskly.
Chi Mingyu dared not hesitate but also didn’t want to appear too eager; he slowly raised his head. The moment he saw the woman, he was somewhat taken aback.
He couldn't help but think, "She’s so young; why is she called Madam?"
Chi Mingyu's eyes were a bit dazed as the woman said, "Not bad; you indeed have an extraordinary appearance."
The woman waved her hand, signaling his boss to leave.
"Your proposal is quite good," he continued to Chi Mingyu. "If I let you help me follow up on the progress of this proposal, what do you think?"
Chi Mingyu was somewhat taken aback. Since joining the company, he had not experienced any further development; each time, he was basically intercepted by his superiors. Such opportunities were never meant for him.
Even until after work, Chi Mingyu's mind was still unsettled.
He heard someone saying something at the door; the person there was really handsome, but he couldn't catch what they were saying about picking someone up.
It wasn't until Chi Mingyu reached the door that he realized it was the big bad guy who had taken him hostage.
Bai Wenyan saw Chi Mingyu come out and stepped forward to say, "Your workplace is quite far."
Chi Mingyu internally scoffed, thinking, "I didn't ask you to come here, attracting all the attention."
"Why are you here?" Chi Mingyu asked.
Bai Wenyan smiled and replied, "Naturally, I'm here to pick you up after work."
