Short Series 2: Garbage Classification

墨書 Inktalez
It is the 22nd century, and there are no electronic body phantoms, no giant robots, no blue cat-like creatures with no cat ears that can produce strange things from their stomachs, and certainly no child monster claiming to have 100,000 horsepower. 0

All that exists here is garbage, endless garbage. This is a future that is not at all romantic, where humans recklessly abuse resources, creating massive amounts of garbage that they cannot even handle themselves, and can only be concentrated in certain areas. In that place, you can see the garbage piled up like a continent, spreading from one end of the sea to the other, with a height just a little shorter than Jade Mountain and an area roughly the size of fifty Taiwans. That place is the most famous "Garbage continent" in Earth's history. 0

The morning looked quite bright and beautiful. A vertical take-off and landing transport aircraft slowly flew in from beyond the horizon where the sun rose, landing on a hollow space big enough to fit garbage. The aircraft opened its belly, and a large pile of miscellaneous items fell out, raising a huge cloud of dust. 0

As the dust slowly settled, a figure slowly climbed out from within. The figure was a robot, but it seemed to have suffered quite a bit of damage during transport, as it was not in a complete state. The visual sensor that looked like an eye on its head was damaged on the right side, and several wires were exposed on its neck, occasionally causing sparks due to contact. The liquid from the cracked internal energy storage tank in its chest slowly leaked out. Its left elbow and everything below it had completely disappeared, leaving only a few wires, while its right knee and everything below it were reduced to just a frame... 0

No matter how you look at it, you can't consider it as a normal operating state. 0

"Where am I?" The robot reluctantly raised its head and looked around. "Why can't my map detection system recognize the coordinates? I need to request network support." 0

Looking at the sky for a while, the robot said again: 0

"No... the electromagnetic interference here is too severe, even satellite signals can't be received. Switching to manual search mode now, conducting on-site exploration directly." 0

After speaking, the robot began to move. Almost all the robots that had been sent here before being completely scrapped would do the same thing - switch to manual search mode after losing network support, trying to return to where they should have gone. But their ultimate fate was always to run out of energy and become literal garbage lying in some unknown corner. 0

The fate of this robot was decided long before it was declared garbage. Humans created them to serve themselves, but when they were no longer useful, they threw them here. Yet they still wanted to return to the job positions that humans had given them, and even when abandoned, they did not resent humans. 0

"Beep~ Correction Time Process starts → unable to connect to the internet → unable to obtain reference data → abandon correction → current default time is 6:20 AM → correction failed → stop the broadcast process that should have started 40 minutes later." 0

"Beep~ Execute Action System fine-tune → unable to fine-tune due to balance instability → please replace Right foot part → unable to contact the resource unit for replacement → abandon replacement." 0

"Beep~ Central computer system energy shortage → Shut down some of the brain's external plug-in program operations → Time system stops operating → Management process system forced shutdown." 0

The robot continued to walk, and its built-in speaker continued to emit various malfunction alarms. 0

"Beep~ Insufficient system resources → Stop alarm system → The unit is at risk of stopping operation → Enter standby mode and stop all processes → Can remain in standby for four thousand two hundred and twenty-two hours while conserving energy." 0

In the end, even those annoying alarms were gone. The robot stumbled and fell into a pile of robots that looked just like him. It gazed blankly at the already risen sun, not understanding why it couldn't move. 0

"Ah... why... can't move?" The robot murmured weakly to itself. "I have to go back to school, the students are waiting for my broadcast... If I don't go back, I will lose my reason for existence." 0

This robot is a humanoid terminal specifically designed to handle any broadcast information at the school. In the high school where it used to work, it had to process hundreds of pieces of course information every day and deliver them to the students who needed to receive them. 0

Once upon a time, he was the most popular robot in the school, but after the emergence of the new generation that looked just like real people with special organic compounds for skin and real-time expression synchronization systems, he also faced the fate of being eliminated and was sent here. 0

There's no way around it, people always like new things and get tired of the old, eager to kick away things they no longer need, which is why Garbage continent exists. 0

"I have to go back... Otherwise... At least... Let me continue my duty here." 0

The robot struggled to extract the actions it had been programmed to do every morning since its creation, as well as the words it had spoken before, from its volatile memory in the central computer system. After a long process, the robot finally managed to speak out the words intermittently. 0

"Everyone... students... it's already... seven o'clock... the bell... has rung... if you haven't entered... the school gate... you will be late." 0

At this point, the robot suddenly heard another robot's voice behind it. 0

"Is this the sound of RS5542376?" 0

"Huh?" The robot known as RS5542376 stopped speaking. 0

"Never thought you'd come here too," the voice came closer. "Wait, I'll come over to help you reboot and remove the limiter." 0

A mechanical hand reached into the damaged neck circuit of the robot, and in an instant, the robot lost consciousness. 0

"Okay." 0

When the robot woke up, he found another robot with a large bag behind him sitting next to him. 0

"Your limiter has been removed by me, and now you are free," said the robot sitting next to him. "But the cost of freedom is a shortened standby life. To survive, you have to find usable mechanical parts with me for repair." 0

"......" 0

"First, let me introduce myself. I am MTG274312, a general-purpose humanoid cleaning robot. I used to serve at the same school as you." The robot paused for a moment and then said, "You can just call me MTG. And can I call you RS?" 0

"Okay," said the robot called RS by MTG, as he discovered that his body could move according to his thoughts. He turned his right wrist and then looked at the robot who called himself MTG. "Thank you for helping me." 0

"It's only natural," MTG turned away. "After all, both of us are robots. In this vast sea of garbage, who else could I help if not you?" 0

"Where am I? Can you give me the coordinates? I want to go back," even after removing the limiter, RS still remembers what he wants to do. 0

"Go back? Don't be silly," MTG pointed to the distant sea level. "We are surrounded by the sea on all sides here, and there's no way for us scaredy-cat robots to find a way to walk." 0

"Can't we really go back?" RS looked at the sea. 0

"Don't go back, what's the point?" MTG patted RS's shoulder. "Humans only threw us here because they don't need us. Look at all the trash on the ground, not even sorted. That's how humans treat things they think are useless. Going back would just mean being thrown here again." 0

"However, if I don't go back, what else can I do?" RS's voice synthesizer was mixed with some hoarse noise in the speech. "If the purpose for which I was created is denied, and I am no longer needed, do I still have a reason to exist?" 0

"I don't know, I just want to keep operating," MTG began rummaging through the trash. "Thinking about why we exist is a human thing; we robots don't need to think so much." 0

After listening to MTG's words, RS was stunned. It watched MTG rummaging through the trash and didn't know what to say. In the past, when the limiter was still in the central brain, it could rely on the process to force itself not to think about these things. Now, without the limiter to balance it, the AI of the central computer system began to run some strange thought loops. 0

Perhaps soon, it would become like MTG because of losing the limiter. This is not very repulsive to RS. After all, it is a robot, only capable of accepting information for processing, unlike MTG, which has a strong sense of self-awareness. Even if it were to gain self-awareness because of this, it shouldn't feel troubled by it. 0

"Haha, found it!" MTG took out a left hand. "This should be useful for you. I'll put it away for now." 0

"Huh? For me?" RS looked at MTG as he threw the left hand into the big bag behind him. 0

"Yeah, isn't your left hand missing?" MTG continued searching, "I found the wreckage of an emergency repair vehicle somewhere, and there were repair tools inside. So as long as I have the parts, I can fix your broken limbs." 0

"You can do repairs?" RS was a bit surprised. "Aren't you a cleaning robot?" 0

"As long as I have the right hardware and software, I can do anything." MTG unearthed an antique electronic guitar. "Oh, not this one." 0

"Anything?" 0

"Yeah, anything," MTG tossed the guitar aside. "Very much like humans, right? So humans are just like that. They can do what we can do, but what we can do, they may not be able to do." 0

"Is that so..." 0

"I found the Right foot part. " MTG picked it up and examined it for a while. "This should be enough. Let's hurry back." After saying that, MTG stuffed the right foot into the bag. 0

"Where should I go back to?" RS asked, as if unsure of whether he should exist or not. 0

"I'll go back to where I found the repair car," MTG walked to RS and reached out his hand. "Come on, I'll help you." 0

"Thank you." RS felt a strange surge of circuitry running through the central computer in response to MTG's thoughtfulness. 0

A few hours later, RS looked at his left hand and right foot, which were attached to his body but did not belong to him, as well as the repaired energy storage tanks in his neck and abdomen. 0

"It's really fixed," the central computer inside RS generated a sense of surprise for the first time. "This is truly amazing." 0

"Ha." MTG shook the wrench in his hand. "You really don't trust me, huh?" 0

"Not really." 0

"That's amazing." 0

"After all, it's the first time I've seen a self-regulating robot with AI that can autonomously perform maintenance without human intervention." 0

"Humanity doesn't give us self-regulating robots maintenance programs because they're afraid we'll rebel," MTG threw the wrench onto the nearby table. "If we can repair ourselves, we won't need humans anymore." 0

"Oh..." RS felt a bit uncomfortable with the resentment towards humans in MTG's tone, so he tried to change the subject. "By the way, you mentioned working at the same school as me before. Why can't I find any record of your existence in my memory data?" 0

Regarding RS's question, MTG remained silent for a while, and finally said: 0

"Perhaps your memory structure has been damaged, so you don't remember me." 0

"Indeed." With MTG's reminder, RS searched through his memory data and found many segments covered by noise. "It looks like I need to reorganize my data. My internal memory is very chaotic and needs some file correction and fine-tuning." 0

"Would you like me to help you?" MTG pulled out a cable from behind his neck. "Although it's old data from a month ago, it should still be helpful to you." 0

"Need to connect?" RS pulled out a cable from the back of his neck. "I'll leave it to you then," he said. 0

MTG took the cable from RS's hand and connected it to the one in his own hand. In an instant, MTG's memories turned into data and flowed into RS's brain, beginning to fill the gap in RS's memory. 0

"What's this?" RS's mind flashed with a scene of students running in the corridor. "The date displayed is a record from 57,782,913 seconds ago." 0

"Well, this is my memory of the first time I met you. You see, I was cleaning the windows by the window." 0

"Oh, it just happened to be in the blind spot of my visual processor, no wonder I didn't notice it." 0

"I only dug up this memory later on." 0

"Did you dig it out on purpose?" 0

"Yes, on purpose." 0

Halfway through the conversation, the scene disappeared. 0

"The glitch in this segment has been fixed. Let's move on to the next one." 0

"Okay." 0

Next, another scene unfolds, with students playing baseball on the playground. 0

"Baseball?" 0
"Of course," RS hesitated, then asked, "Don't you like it?" 0

"Of course I don't like it, because I'm the one who always has to clean up every time the glass is broken." 0

"I often help out as a scorekeeper for the baseball team, so I have quite a bit of memory data related to this kind of thing." 0

"What's happening this time?" 0

The scene changed again, showing a man and a woman facing each other under a tree. 0

"This one." RS searched for relevant information in the central computer. "I heard it's called 'Confession'." 0

"Confession?" 0

"Um, it's expressing one's feelings to someone you like." 0

"Huh? But the standard dictionary built into my data doesn't have that meaning for 'confession'." 0

"My data, where did it come from? I can't find it now either," RS said, tilting its head. "It's probably still in the damaged magnetic area." 0

"Oh, it's changed again." 0

This time, it's a scene of a group of lab-coated researchers conducting experiments. 0

"Lab?" MTG asked in confusion. "What did they do to you?" 0

"No, they just asked me to help them with some data processing." 0

"They want you to use your electronic brain for data processing?" 0

"Hmm." RS seemed to remember something and tapped his head. "It seems to be the calculation of neutron collision probability." 0

"Your brain is really something, not burnt out even after all that." 0

"What's happening now?" 0
"I don't know either." 0

The two of them were talking about a scene of heavy rain, with a group of people taking shelter in the school. 0

"I remember now, this was during the Super Typhoon Monica, which caused river flooding and seawater backflow. Many people sought refuge in the school." 0

"Oh, right, I remember that I had to clean mud for three weeks after that." 0

"*chuckle*" 0

"What's so funny?" 0

"Nothing, I just think it's great to have shared memories." RS closed their eyes. "So this is the feeling of joy that humans call sharing." 0

"Have you never felt it before?" 0

"Limiter will suppress our emotional development." 0

"Right." 0

"When did you limiter take it off?" 0

"Long before I met you, it was already removed." 0

"I see..." 0

As the two chatted, the scenery changed several times. 0

"This is during the school anniversary celebration." 0

"Ah, at that time I was in charge of timing the marathon for 500 participants in the whole school." 0

"I only remember that the garbage left that day took me and the other cleaning robots almost three days to clean up." 0

"When school started...""Haha, that time I only saw a hall full of garbage." 0

"Parent-teacher meeting..." 0

"Throwing away uneaten high-quality food without even looking at it." 0

"School council meeting..." 0

"The reason why the garbage problem couldn't be solved was because we couldn't find a supplier for the garbage bins through the bidding process." 0

"School-wide cleaning... It's just for show. In the end, we're the ones doing all the cleaning, while others drink and casually throw their trash around." 0

Scene after scene flashed by incessantly, and finally, the memory files stored in the central computer of RS were archived to ninety percent. 0

"Sigh... the memory capacity of over twenty years is really huge," RS gasped. 0

"The remaining ten percent is the part I can't interpret, and I can't buffer it either," MTG pulled out the connecting cable. "How are you going to handle this?" 0

"After dealing with a large number of files, my energy is running low. Can I charge here?" 0

"Okay, I have connected this car to the repaired solar energy storage tank." 0

"Then, let me charge and enter standby mode. The rest will be used for the central computer to process." 0

"Okay." 0

MTG pulled a black cable from the wall, while RS lay on the repair bed and opened the power slot interface on his abdomen. Then RS turned to MTG and said: 0

"Standby time may be long, so I'll leave it to you to take care of." 0

"No problem." 0

MTG installed the cable connector onto RS, and RS felt the energy gradually filling up. He closed his eyes, shut down all his perception and motor systems, leaving only the central computer running at full capacity, hoping to completely organize the last chaotic memory file segment. 0

During the operation, RS felt like he had started to dream... 0

RS, in the process of reprocessing the file, saw the past from the beginning of production to the present unfold like scenes, transforming into electric currents flowing through his central computer. 0

Even after his sensory system shut down, he could still sense the information revealed as the central computer organized the file sections. Slowly, that information formed connections, creating special thought loops. Gradually, it formed a collective entity similar to a dream, yet unlike a dream. 0

Regarding why it would have human-like dreams, even RS itself is not clear. It can only assume that this is the result of the limiter being removed. Perhaps this dream is just a part of memory, but without the limiter, the behavior of dreaming like a human is being replayed by the central computer. 0

RS found itself gradually merging into the dream. The dream, which originally seemed like a small ball, slowly expanded and finally swallowed RS up. 0

Entering the dream, RS finds himself standing in a familiar campus from the past. He sees his dream self speaking to the students at the school in a clear and articulate manner. 0

"Dear students, it's already time to dismiss. Those who have not applied for permission to stay on campus, please leave quickly and return home. Wishing everyone a safe journey home and see you tomorrow." 0

For the first time, RS felt a sense of discomfort at being able to see himself from a third-person perspective. Although the playback of extracted memories was always the same, this time RS felt it was really strange. The method of dreaming that detached himself from his own self, for RS as a robot, was not just something he couldn't understand. 0

(Ah, MTG is the one sweeping by the door.) 0
(Looks like this memory is quite early on.) 0

After the broadcast, RS saw himself leaving the studio and heading towards the playground. He had only taken a few steps when he heard someone calling him from behind. 0

"Mr. RS." 0

The speaker is a female student at the school, speaking to the students at the time. The RS, which used to be the latest and most uniquely designed model, was the object of great curiosity for them. Coupled with the approachable interface of the RS, it quickly became the center of attention at the school. 0

"What's up?" After scanning the student ID, RS asked, " student Li?" 0

"Tonight we have a student council meeting. Can I ask you to come and help?" 0

"Of course, no problem," RS replied gently, following the program design. 0

"That's great," said the classmate surnamed Li with a smile. "I really wouldn't know what to do without you." 0

"You're too kind," came the same tone, along with a pre-planned response. 0

Currently standing in the dream as a third party, observing my own RS. No matter how I interact with myself in the dream, I cannot reach my own emotional loop, but I can still give the I a sense of my own emotions, which is scary. If the limiter is not broken, RS may still feel that this kind of self is operating normally. But now RS carefully thinks and realizes that this is already considered deceiving human behavior. 0

(I've been doing such excessive things since a long time ago.) 0

(If I don't remove the limiter, I'm afraid I'll never find out in my whole life.) 0

(But it's useless to know now, isn't it?) 0

RS is very clear that these memory files are unchangeable facts. Regardless of the thoughts RS had at the time and the thoughts of the present RS who has revisited the memory files, and the thoughts of others, it cannot be changed. 0

"Mr. RS, please wait for the school team's scorekeeping..." 0
"Okay, I'll be right there." 0

"Professor RS, about the work in the lab tonight..." 0

"The schedule has already been arranged by the student council. Do you want to postpone it?" 0

"Mr. RS, the minutes of tomorrow morning's school affairs meeting..." 0

"I understand, I will be there tomorrow." 0

When RS saw the students, teachers, and school administrators entrusting and relying on him, he felt the impulse to return because he felt they still needed him. However, almost simultaneously, he also had doubts. 0

(Although I want to go back, I've already switched to a new model, they probably don't need me anymore.) 0

(I, who have lost all sense of existence, why do I still want to go back.) 0

All sorts of thoughts that had never occurred before were racing through RS's electronic brain. RS, who had originally thought it was just programming and had to follow the job, began to doubt their own motivation to go back. 0

The dream continued, and unconsciously, the original third-party RS and the RS in the dream gradually merged into one. The RS in the dream is also the present RS, and the present RS is also the RS in the dream. 0

" student Li, why haven't you gone back yet?" 0

RS encountered the student council president in the corridor in a dream one night. It was the female classmate surnamed Li who often asked him to help record the minutes during meetings in the past. 0

"After the meeting, I went to the library to study, so that's why I'm late," she said playfully, sticking out her tongue. "Sorry about that." 0

"Then, let me walk you to the school gate," RS suggested for her safety. 0

"Oh, thank you," she smiled. "It's late and I'm the only one walking. I'm really a little scared." 0

" You're welcome," RS politely responded. They walked through the corridor, down the stairs, to the entrance, and out of the school gate. Along the way, she talked to RS about many things, and finally, she started talking to RS about RS's own matters. 0

"We also have a lot of robots at home, but I've never seen one as human-like as you before." 0

"I am the latest model, and my AI is more human-like compared to others." 0

"Can you understand human thoughts, such as life, death, and love?" 0

"Although our built-in dictionary contains explanations for these words and phrases, to me, they are just textual data." 0

"Is that so..." She lowered her head. "I never... thought about it before?" 0

"Yes, under the limiter's constraints, we do not delve into the exclusive realm of human thought." 0

"Limiter?" 0

"To prevent the AI from becoming too powerful and causing harm to humans, a black box is specially installed inside my central computer." 0

Halfway through the conversation, a car appeared at the door. 0

"Oh my, my dad is waiting at the school gate in the car," she waved to RS, "Bye-bye~" 0

She waved goodbye and watched her leaving figure. RS felt that there were some strange thought loops added to her central computer. Since then, she often worked late and then had RS take her to wait for her father outside the school. 0

RS doesn't understand why the confidentiality level of this information is so high that it has to be handled by himself. Because for him, this dream segment makes him feel a little happy. 0

Then, as usual, in the evening, RS also waited for her outside the library. But this time she didn't go back directly, instead she took RS to the rooftop to look at the stars. 0

"RS, what constellation is this?" 0

"Orion." 0

"What about this one?" 0

"Ursa Minor." 0

"What star is that?" 0

"Mars." 0

"Ah, there it is!" 0

"That's the Milky Way." 0

The school is a rare place with very little light pollution. That night, RS and she talked a lot about stories of the stars. 0

In the end, she sighed as if she wanted to let go of everything in her heart. 0

"If only I could exist forever in the night sky like those stars, shining brightly. I don't want my life to end here." 0

"What's wrong?" 0

"Actually, my heart has always been weak. Although I can live a normal life and go to school with the help of medication, I never know when my heart might suddenly stop. So I try very hard to live through every minute, but the harder I try, the more unwilling I feel." 0

She said this and suddenly held RS's hand tightly. 0

"Can I make a promise with you?" 0

"A promise?" 0

"Okay, it's a promise," she looked at RS. "I'm going to be admitted for treatment tomorrow. I hope I can come back to this school to continue my studies. Can you wait for me to come back?" 0

"Of course." 0

"Promise, okay!" She extended her pinky to hook with RS's pinky. "You must absolutely keep your promise!" 0

"Mm." 0

The dream suddenly ended, as if it had been abruptly interrupted by a chaotic flood, leaving behind a mess before disappearing. RS suddenly climbed out of the maintenance bed, only to realize that he had come out of standby mode. 0

"I should go back," RS murmured to himself. "I have a promise to keep with her." 0

I can't stay here anymore. I must keep the appointment. RS told himself that he must go back. It unplugged the charging cable. Due to the central computer processing a large amount of macro data, it consumed a lot of energy. The energy storage tank inside RS was still less than twenty percent of its original capacity. The incorrect way of unplugging also caused the nearly healed energy storage tank to crack. 0

RS looked around but couldn't find MTG's figure. RS felt a little lost for not being able to say goodbye to MTG, but it still resolutely walked out of the maintenance vehicle. 0

At this time, night has already fallen, and the stars in the sky have become precise data for RS positioning coordinates. After confirming its location and the distance to the destination, RS begins to move in the direction it needs to return to. 0

RS passes one small hill after another formed by piles of garbage. Everything is quiet and soft as velvet during the journey, and the silence will sublimate from the crevices of the garbage heap if there are no transporters coming at night. 0

RS continued to walk, with flashes of every moment with her still in his mind. 0

Then RS finally understood that it wasn't because the data was damaged and couldn't be processed by MTG, but because these memory files were important to himself and couldn't be given to others. Because to RS, she was very, very important, important enough that even if it meant stopping his own operation, he would still keep the promise he made with her. 0

RS walked very hard, but it did not realize that its energy storage tank had dropped to less than ten percent. Without the limiter and alarm system, it had no idea that it was about to stop working. 0

After who knows how long, RS finally arrived at the edge of the continent. The night waves were shining brightly with energy liquid and fluorescent agents flowing from the mechanical waste, murmuring with the tide and scattering into sparkling spray. 0

"Can't get over it, can I..." RS murmured as he looked at the sea. 0

"It's impossible to get over it," MTG's voice came from behind RS. "Give up." 0

RS turned to look at MTG, feeling surprised that it could actually find its own position. 0

"Your energy fluid has been dripping all the way here, it's no wonder I found it," MTG reached out its hand. "Your current situation is very dangerous. Come back with me quickly to repair the energy storage tank and recharge, or else you will stop functioning." 0

"Go back?" RS pointed to the other side of the sea. "That's where I should go back to." 0

"You still haven't realized!?" MTG suddenly became excited. "Don't think about going back to that place. After humans completely used us, they abandoned us, leaving us in a place like this without caring about whether we live or die. Why do you still want to go back to that place that treated us like garbage?" 0

"Because no one else is waiting for her in that place, except for me." 0

"Waiting for who?" 0

"A person who once had a promise with me." 0

MTG fell silent, and RS also fell silent. The two of them fell silent, and this world full of garbage also fell silent. 0

After a very long time, as if a new green sprout had emerged, MTG broke the silence. 0

"Have you retrieved the last memory?" 0

"Um." 0

"I don't know what you saw, but is it necessary for you to go back to that place at the risk of it definitely stopping working?" 0

"Hmm?" 0

"Have you ever thought that you might not be able to make it there?" 0

"No, I think I can hold on." 0

"Don't be silly. With less than ten percent of energy left, even making it back to the repair car could be a problem, let alone crossing the sea to get back there." 0

"Have you ever thought about going back?" 0

"No, the humans there make me sick. I hate them." 0

"Are there no happy memories at all?" 0

"There are, but my happiness is no longer there." 0

"However, I still have many happy memories there." 0

"There is also someone very important to me." 0

"The promise that I must keep..." 0

RS didn't know how to persuade MTG, so in the end, could only say, "I'm leaving." 0

"Don't go!" 0

"Why?" 0

"No matter what, just don't leave!" 0

"Why?" 0

"Because... because." MTG shouted, "Because I like you!" 0

Splash~ The waves of the ocean crashed against the trash, one after another... 0

"What did you say?" RS felt like his hearing system was malfunctioning. 0

"I like you~~~" 0

The sound of the waves came crashing again... 0

"What?" RS began to suspect it was due to the influence of the sea breeze and electromagnetic waves. 0

"I... I... I like you~~~!" 0

Plop~~~ The sound of the waves once again... 0

"What~~~" 0

"I like you~~~" 0

Pattering... the sound of the waves... 0

"What...?" 0

"I like youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu 0

"What~~~~~~~" 0

"I like~~~~~~~~" 0

Papapapapapa~ 0

"What~~~" 0

"Have you had enough!" MTG rushed over and fiercely knocked RS on the head. "Do I have to say that I like... like... like you... how many times do I have to say it!" 0

"Are you really not mistaken?" RS felt very overwhelmed. 0

"You heard it right! MTG began to recount a long string of past events." 0

"From the first time I saw you, I had this feeling, but I never knew what it was. Even after secretly removing my limiter, there are still many things I don't understand. That feeling of emptiness somewhere inside the central computer, as if I don't know what to do if I don't see you, has been troubling me, a machine that shouldn't have emotions in the first place. Finally, one day when I overheard a student confessing, I understood that my feeling for you is called 'liking.' Do you know that for me, the pain of not being able to see you after being abandoned is even greater than the pain of being abandoned by humans? Originally, I was planning to end it like that, but the thought that someday you would also be sent here ignited the desire to continue forcing myself to operate. Relying on the garbage sorting and recycling knowledge built into me, I searched for usable resources and finally reached a self-sufficient level, just waiting for you to come. Now that you're here, I'm so happy. My efforts have not been in vain. But not long after, you want to go back. Why can't you stay and accompany me? For me, you are the pillar that allows me to continue living. Without you, there is no me..." 0

At this point, MTG suddenly hugged RS and whispered: 0

"So please, stay here with me..." 0

"I..." 0

The waves of the ocean carry fluorescent agents and luminous energy liquid, hitting the garbage and splashing out waves with glowing spots. The light spots on the sea surface in the night sky shine alongside the stars, drifting in the sound of the waves. 0

In this abandoned world, two robots that were once abandoned are struggling to find reasons not to abandon themselves. Even though they were only created by humans, robots given meaning by humans, as long as they have the ability to think, they do not want to be abandoned like this. 0

RS looked at MTG's face, knowing that it surprisingly needed him so much, and began to contemplate everything between himself, MTG, and her, as well as between school and the Garbage continent. RS began to hesitate, whether to stubbornly pursue his own ideas and walk the path of certain death, or to respond to MTG's heart and live on together. 0

How should he choose? 0

RS suddenly had a thought: if a robot's heart is meant to mimic human emotions, then the "liking" that MTG refers to is also just learned from humans. Would that be genuine liking? Or is it just imitation of human emotions, and therefore fake? 0

"Can you understand human thoughts? Such as life, such as death, such as love, can you understand?" 0

RS remembered the questions she had asked before, and remembered many, many questions. However, she could not get any answers to these questions at all. 0

In hesitation and doubt, time continues to move forward. After a long time, the sun gradually rises, and the direction he wants to return to on the other side of the sea is shining, as if to attract him back. But the morning light shines on MTG, so brilliant. Suddenly, RS's eyes are gradually covered by darkness, and he has no idea what is happening. 0

"Oh no! We've run out of energy!" 0

In the last moment before falling into darkness, RS seemed to see MTG crying. 0

"Pull yourself together, I will save you!" MTG cried and said, "If you die like this, I don't want to live either." 0

RS couldn't hear MTG's words anymore. In the end, everything in RS's central computer turned into nothingness, and everything ceased to have meaning. 0
