Jack held a folder and pushed open the door to the interrogation room. Claire's face lit up with evident happiness upon seeing Jack; she even brushed her hair back, seemingly trying to make herself look a bit better. Her eyes sparkled with anticipation and a hint of nervousness, as if Jack's presence provided her with some comfort. 0

Jack walked into the room, slowly sat down, and looked at Claire with calm and focused eyes. He briefly said, "Officer Laxia just called me and mentioned that you wanted to see some photos." 0

Claire's gaze was filled with hope and unease as she gently nodded, waiting for Jack's next words. 0

Jack continued, "But according to the regulations, I told you yesterday that I actually can't show you that many photos." 0

Claire's smile faltered slightly, but she still tried to remain composed. "But those photos are very important to me. I think they can help me remember some things." 0

Jack paused for a moment, considering her request. He knew Claire's mental state was very unstable right now, but he also understood that sometimes it was necessary to break the rules to find the truth. 0

"Claire," Jack's tone softened a bit, "I understand how you feel, but we have to follow the rules. You need to tell me if these photos can really help you recall what happened that night." 0

A flicker of confusion crossed Claire's eyes, but she nodded firmly and said, "I don't know, but I'm willing to try. Maybe I can find some clues from them to piece together the truth of that night." 0

Jack looked at Claire, feeling a surge of frustration rising within him. He knew that this kind of delay and ambiguity had worn him and the entire investigation team thin. He decided it was time to stop being gentle and take a firm stance. 0

He slammed the folder down on the table and spoke sternly: "Claire, I've had enough of your vague responses. We have too much evidence in our hands already; I just need to know why you did this." 0

Claire was startled by his sudden harshness. She looked up at Jack, fear and anxiety flashing in her eyes. 0

"We know for sure that you killed Mark," Jack continued, his tone cold and resolute. "But what we don't understand is why? Why did you do it?" 0

Claire's lips trembled, her gaze becoming more chaotic. She lowered her head, unable to meet Jack's eyes. She knew that no matter what she said, it wouldn't change their perception of her, but she also realized she could no longer avoid it. 0

"I... I really don't remember," Claire's voice quivered as tears welled up in her eyes again. "That night, I was really confused; I just wanted to be closer to him... but I didn't kill him! I would never kill him!" 0

Jack looked at her coldly, unmoved by her emotions. "Claire, you know these words won't convince us. What we need is the truth, not your self-justification. All the evidence points to you, and we need to know why you did this." 0

Tears finally fell from Claire's eyes, her voice filled with despair and pain. "I don't know... I really don't know. I love Mark; I would never hurt him! He means so much to me; I wouldn't..." 0

Jack interrupted her, his tone becoming more severe. "Claire, we need you to face this honestly. Only you can tell us the truth; otherwise, we will have to make judgments based on the evidence, and that won't be good for you." 0

Claire's emotions began to sink, her gaze dimming and her body trembling slightly. She was indeed under pressure, which was exactly what Jack hoped to see. The current state of the suspect was the moment of psychological weakness. Jack knew they had to press on. 0

He pulled a chair next to Claire, his tone softening but still firm. "Claire, we all know you didn't mean for this to happen. But now we must help Mark get justice, and you, as the person most likely to have been there, we need your help. So please, tell me." 0

A flicker of confusion and pain crossed Claire's eyes as she lowered her head, tears falling again. She felt her inner defenses crumbling under the pressure that made it impossible for her to continue hiding. 0

"I... I really don't know what to say," she whispered, her voice trembling. "That night, I just wanted to see him; I wanted to know what he was doing with that woman. I love him, but there are so many problems and conflicts between us." 0

Jack nodded gently in understanding. "I understand; conflicts in relationships can sometimes lead people to do unbelievable things. Claire, we're not blaming you; we just want to know the truth so that Mark can get the justice he deserves." 0

Claire sniffled, her gaze flickering uncertainly as she looked at Jack, her voice low and shaky. "I... I might have driven around near Mark's house... but I didn't go into his home..." 0

Jack shook his head, his tone becoming more resolute. "No... that's not possible, Claire. You know you went into Mark's house. And you know very well that something happened between you that night. Tell me, did you go looking for him on your own or did Mark reach out to you?" 0

Claire's eyes grew more confused as she took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She knew she could no longer continue hiding the truth, but fear held her back from being honest. 0

"I... I really don't remember," she said softly, tears welling up again. "That night, I did drive near his house, but I didn't go inside... I just... I just wanted to know what he was doing." 0

Jack looked at her with distrust and doubt in his eyes. "Claire, you need to face this honestly. We have evidence showing that you entered Mark's house that night and that something happened between you two. You must tell me whether you went looking for him or if he contacted you." 0

Claire's hands were tightly clasped together, knuckles turning white from the pressure. Her body trembled slightly as tears streamed down her face. "Mark... he texted me that night saying he wanted to see me... I really don't know why he did that, but I went..." 0

Jack's tone softened slightly, but it still carried a hint of pressure. "Claire, these are the details we need. You went to his house, and then what happened? Did you have any arguments?" 0

Claire's previously low mood suddenly shifted to excitement. Her eyes sparkled as if recalling the time spent with Mark brought her immense joy. 0

"We didn't argue," Claire's voice brightened, filled with delight. "We just chatted casually and talked about some recent events. I told him about my upcoming travels, mentioning that I planned to go to some places to unwind and relax." 0

Jack looked at Claire, feeling a mix of confusion and caution. He knew that such a sudden shift in emotion could be a reaction to stress or that Claire might be concealing something. "Claire, I need you to describe that night in detail. You said you were just chatting; then what happened? What occurred?" 0

Claire's eyes still glimmered with joy as she seemed lost in her memories, completely ignoring the pressure of reality. "We talked about many things, discussed future plans, and shared some past memories. I told him I wanted to go to Utah; the scenery there is beautiful and would help me relax." 0

Jack furrowed his brow, trying to pull Claire back from her euphoric state. "Claire, what happened after your conversation that night? Was there anything unusual between you two?" 0

Claire's expression momentarily turned confused, but she quickly regained her excitement. "There was nothing unusual; we just chatted for a while, and then I left. He was very nice to me, always so gentle." 0

Jack knew that such answers wouldn't resolve his doubts; he had to keep pressing Claire to confront reality. "Claire, we need you to be honest about what happened that night. You know we have plenty of evidence showing you entered his house. You need to tell us the truth so we can help you." 0

Claire's emotions fluctuated again; her gaze grew uneasy, yet she still tried to maintain her excitement. "I really didn't do anything wrong; I just went to see him and talked a bit. I genuinely enjoy being with him; he makes me happy." 0

Jack took a deep breath and decided to adopt a firmer stance. "Claire, you must be honest. This isn't a game; you're facing very serious charges. If you continue to hide things, it will only get worse for you. Tell us the truth about what happened that night." 0

Claire's face turned pale as her emotions began to waver again. A flicker of pain and fear crossed her eyes as she realized she could no longer keep hiding the truth. But the internal struggle and conflict made it difficult for her to confront reality openly. 0
