Eileen sat back in her seat, still feeling annoyed about the ten dollars she had lost. She looked at the notebook on the table, but her thoughts lingered on the absurd gambling game that had just taken place. She recalled Mark's smug smile, and a wave of anger surged within her. However, she also knew that no matter how much she regretted it, that money was gone for good and could only be considered a lesson learned. 0

Just then, Lisa slid over in her chair, poking Eileen in the side with a smile and whispering, "I told you not to gamble with that old man Mark! That sly fox might have been up to something to make Marvin so furious. Think about it... during the recent morning news segments, either the camera was slow to catch up or didn’t show up at all. It has to be Mark's doing!" 0

Eileen couldn't help but laugh at Lisa's jab. Tilting her head, she grinned and said, "You know what? I’ve suspected that too. That guy Mark is full of tricks; he might really be behind this." 0

Lisa shrugged, wearing a knowing expression. "What did I tell you? That old man is no fool. Just don’t fall for his tricks again; consider that ten dollars your tuition fee." 0

Eileen sighed helplessly, leaning back in her chair with a hint of annoyance and self-deprecation in her eyes. "Ugh, what a waste of money. But at least I've seen Mark's true colors." 0

Lisa chuckled and patted Eileen on the shoulder. "Alright, don’t dwell on it. Tonight, I’ll treat you to drinks to make up for your loss. We both need to unwind; this place drives us crazy every day." 0

Mark happened to overhear their conversation and walked over with a teasing grin. "Hey, ladies, don’t blame everything on me. You should blame your bad luck; it’s not my fault." He winked innocently. 0

Eileen rolled her eyes and muttered, "Mark, who believes you? With all your tricks, who would trust your luck?" 0

Mark laughed heartily and patted his belly. "Eileen, saying that hurts my feelings! But since I won some money today, I’ll treat both of you to dinner to make up for your little loss. What do you say? Accept my kindness?" 0

Lisa immediately chimed in with a smile, nudging Eileen. "See? He’s offering to treat us; can we really refuse?" 0

Although Eileen still felt a bit reluctant, the prospect of a free dinner made her nod reluctantly. "Alright, Mark, I’ll let you treat us this time. But don’t think you can trick us again next time." 0

Mark nodded in satisfaction. "Deal! I know a great restaurant; see you at seven tonight—don’t be late!" 0

Just as Mark was feeling proud, Marvin suddenly pushed open the door to his office, the door slamming against the wall with a loud bang that startled everyone in the office. The sound was like thunder, instantly shattering everyone's nerves. The gold chain around Marvin's neck clinked, and the various jewels and accessories on him made a noisy clatter, accompanying his heavy footsteps. 0

Mark immediately sat back down in his chair, his smug smile vanishing in an instant, replaced by a sense of helpless compliance. He knew that Marvin's temper was not to be trifled with; crossing him would lead to dire consequences. 0

Marvin's figure appeared exceptionally tall at the office door, exuding a suffocating sense of pressure. He walked in step by step, his gaze sweeping across the room like a hawk searching for any target daring enough to slack off. Seeing his cold and ruthless face, everyone quickly lowered their heads and pretended to work diligently, hoping not to attract his attention. 0

Irene felt a chill run up her spine as she stole a glance at Marvin, who was walking toward Mark. Mark tried hard to appear busy, his fingers rapidly tapping on the keyboard while he muttered some irrelevant phrases under his breath, attempting to mask his anxiety. 0

Marvin reached Mark's desk and slammed his hand down heavily on it, causing all eyes to involuntarily look up at the scene. Mark's hands trembled slightly, but he quickly regained his composure, lifting his head to reveal a stiff smile. "Marvin, do you have any instructions?" 0

Marvin narrowed his eyes and coldly said, "Mark, I hope this report won't have any issues again; otherwise..." He left the sentence unfinished, but the threat was clear. 0

Mark hurriedly nodded. "Don't worry, Marvin; there won't be any problems this time, I promise." 0

Marvin snorted but did not turn to leave; instead, he stood in the center of the office, staring intently at everyone. His gaze was cold and sharp, creating an invisible pressure that weighed heavily on each person. This made the atmosphere in the office even more oppressive, as if the air had become thin. 0

Irene exchanged glances with Lisa, both filled with unease. Marvin stood there with his arms crossed over his chest, his eyes scanning each person as if he was about to say something. 0

He remained silent for a few seconds before speaking up: "I know some of you think you can slack off under my nose and that I won’t notice. But I want to tell you that any mistake made by one person will bring shame to the entire team; I will not allow this to happen." 0

His voice was deep and powerful; each word struck like a hammer against everyone's hearts. "From today onward, I will monitor your work more closely. Any small mistake will not be forgiven. Remember, at Ling Feng Television Station, I am in charge." 0

Irene stole another glance at Mark and saw him nervously swallow hard, his face somewhat pale. Marvin's words carried an immense sense of pressure that made everyone feel an invisible burden resting on their shoulders. 0

Marvin continued, "I know you all have a lot of pressure at work, but that's no excuse for slacking off. Everyone must give their all; otherwise, you don't deserve to be here." 0

His gaze swept over everyone, finally landing on Erin, sending a chill down her spine. She lowered her head, pretending to be busy with her documents, but inside she felt anxious. 0

Marvin stood in the center of the office, arms crossed over his chest, his eyes scanning each person like a hawk. His face bore a cold expression, and his gaze was filled with an oppressive intensity. After a few seconds of silence, he suddenly shouted, "For the sake of the network's ratings... I don't care how you do it—steal, cheat, lie! Or whatever scandalous tactics you can think of! I don't care! I also don’t care about any moral values!" 0

His voice echoed like thunder in the office, causing everyone to involuntarily shudder. Marvin's words were filled with madness and determination, creating an irresistible pressure. 0

"You useless bunch, do you hear me?" Marvin slammed his fist down on the nearby table, scattering papers and pens everywhere. "I only want one goal: to damn well increase the ratings!" 0

He shouted frantically, gesturing wildly as if addressing a group of gangsters. He waved his hands as if trying to force his will into everyone's minds. 0

"Do you understand? I don't care if you have to show skin or whatever! As long as it boosts the ratings, I'm satisfied!" His voice grew louder and more intense, and his gestures became increasingly exaggerated, resembling a mad speech. 0

Erin exchanged a glance with Lisa; although Marvin's roar was painful to their ears, they had grown accustomed to such scenes. Marvin would put on this kind of show every so often; for them, it had become background noise. 0
