The building with exposed concrete walls is gradually being renovated into the form that people see in brochures, and it is estimated that it resembles them about eighty to ninety percent. 0

In one of the units, two people are working diligently. 0

It has been over a month since they started working here. Jiang Yizhou initially familiarized himself with the basic tasks on the construction site, just in case a butterfly effect leads to his own bankruptcy; this might be a way out... 0

Puh puh puh! Jiang Yizhou shook his head, realizing he was only trying to learn a few more skills. The more skills he has, the more options he has. At least for the next thirty years, this job will still be viable and won’t become obsolete. 0

However, thinking about it, is there really a difference between the two approaches? He found himself amusing. 0

"You just can't get rid of this bad habit! Do you know that if you zone out like this in a dangerous position, you won't last a month? What are you thinking about when it's time to work? Look at the floor you've laid!" 0

The old man scolded Jiang Yizhou without holding back. It’s all for the sake of work, right? While it’s not forbidden to slack off occasionally, at least do the job well! 0

If it needs to be redone, wouldn’t that be asking for trouble? 0

Jiang Yizhou scratched his head awkwardly. He had once had hair about an inch long, but due to often being too tired to do anything but collapse into bed after work, he simply went to a barbershop on the street and got a buzz cut; now it was just a light stubble. 0

There was just a chair, a mirror, and a toolbox—simple and efficient, and cheap. It was quite popular among nearby workers, especially migrant workers like him. As barbershops gradually evolved into beauty salons, with prices often reaching twenty or thirty yuan, these street-side barbers had a significant market in urban villages. 0

"I'm just not busy right now," Jiang Yizhou joked. "Uncle, can you give me some pocket money?" 0

Now back to reality, he skillfully corrected some uneven spots he had just laid while continuing with the remaining tasks, laughing and joking. 0

"After work!" The old man grunted and didn’t bother him anymore. 0

Jiang Yizhou noticed that the old man was ignoring him, so he focused on completing today's task. After a month, he had become a qualified construction worker. He was still learning about renovations, but aside from the initial struggles due to his mental state, he had gradually adapted to his strong body with the old man's encouragement. 0

Perhaps this healthy and strong body gave Jiang Yizhou confidence. Standing at six feet tall, he had an imposing physique that was not easily intimidated. Regardless of whether others were afraid of him, he no longer feared anyone. 0

"Here you go," Jiang Maode glanced at Jiang Yizhou and handed him a five-yuan bill. "I've been keeping track of your expenses; you've really spent a lot this month!" 0

Looking at the "fierce" old man, Jiang Yizhou didn't feel much concern. Aside from getting a library card at the city library, which required a significant deposit, he hadn't spent much else—mostly on study supplies. Otherwise, the old man wouldn't have been so lenient in giving him money. 0

After all, seeing his younger relatives wanting to improve themselves, how could he stop them? Although he couldn't understand much of the programming and language books himself. 0

With the money in hand, Jiang Yizhou rummaged through his bag in the house for some clothes and changed. The smell of paint from the renovations was quite strong and hard to dissipate. While working, he wore some durable and dirty clothes that he didn't know where the old man had gotten from; the construction site didn't provide uniforms. 0

This led to some teasing from others on the site, as they thought he was trying too hard to stand out. 0

After changing into clean and tidy clothes, Jiang Yizhou left directly. Everyone was used to it; the management of contracted projects was quite lax. 0

"Hey, Pork Knuckle, where are you off to dressed like that?" Most of Jiang Youming's crew were locals who were somewhat related to each other and had good relationships. However, Jiang Yizhou had his own study plan and didn't socialize much with his peers who came to work. 0

He wasn't interested in what fun they could have; they were young dropouts who weren't married yet. It wasn't like they lived in an era where everyone had a smartphone; their entertainment options were limited, which didn't appeal to Jiang Yizhou. 0

"Nothing much, I'm just going to buy something; don't mind me!" Jiang Yizhou replied politely. It was just a way to ease the awkwardness of not greeting each other when passing by. 0

As he walked down the street, more pedestrians began to appear. He had left the construction site behind and was heading toward the city center, which was bustling with activity. The streets were wide and not overly crowded with vehicles or stalls in the evening. 0

Jiang Yizhou walked straight towards the large and cluttered Grocery Store. He preferred this feeling of shopping in a supermarket, even though it was just the village's store, which had many things worth complaining about; after all, it was still a supermarket! 0

"Clips, notebooks, draft paper... Sister Yun, why is there no draft paper?" Jiang Yizhou looked around several shelves but couldn't find any draft paper. Although he had used quite a bit, it shouldn't be completely out, right? 0

"Sorry, it won't arrive for another two days. You can look for something else in the meantime!" Li Xiaoyun's face was a bit pale. It was inevitable that running this store was tough, especially since some recent events had made things even busier. 0

"It's fine, it's fine. I'll just take these two for now!" He placed the clips and notebook on the counter. The reason this store stocked some stationery was initially for her younger brother, the boy who had been "wandering" in the store during his first visit. 0

"Sister Yun, why don't you just hire some people? It's too hard to do it alone. You can't even think about expanding; why not just turn it into a Supermarket?" Jiang Yizhou continued to promote his ideas, believing he was helping her. 0

However, it seemed that Sister Yun didn't appreciate his suggestions. Many of his recommendations had not been taken into account, which left him feeling quite disappointed. 0

He couldn't help but think that Sister Yun was indeed beautiful! 0

Jiang Yizhou muttered to himself again. He never denied that he judged people by their appearance; being good-looking naturally attracted attention. It was like an inherent threshold, similar to how people are born into different families—it's a fact that everyone has to accept. 0

"Jiang Yizhou, are you done yet?" Li Xiaoyun sensed what this young man circling around her was after. She had let it slide because he seemed to follow the rules, but now she was overwhelmed with troubles and had nowhere to vent her frustration. 0
