Dressed neatly, even a bit heavily, Song Rushi knocked on Jiang Yizhou's door. 0

"What's with your outfit?" Jiang Yizhou said, slightly surprised. I'm not that kind of person! 0

"Didn't you check the weather forecast? It's likely to rain when the troops arrive. If you still plan to go see it, you'll catch a cold!" Song Rushi said without any hesitation, reminding him. 0

Sitting on the sofa, Jiang Yizhou was in a bathrobe, sitting cross-legged. The overly formal handover ceremony made him think of a future that was both proud and disappointing. He had little interest in this ceremony that had long been decided. 0

To be specific, he preferred the news and programs from V11 and 4; he just couldn't muster any interest in a single channel. 0

Song Rushi took off her coat, wearing a shirt and knee-length skirt, sitting beside him. Due to previous events, neither of them was in much of a mood. 0

"The flag-raising has already started. Why are you so quiet?" Although Jiang Yizhou wasn't interested in the flag-raising, he didn't show any excitement on his face after coming all the way from America. 0

"Aren't you the same?" Jiang Yizhou smiled somewhat awkwardly, but that smile seemed rather insincere to Song Rushi. 0

Can it be the same? I'm worried about... what are you worried about? 0

"Don't you know whether it's the same or not?" As soon as Song Rushi said this, Jiang Yizhou felt a shiver run through him but then relaxed again. "I wasn't planning to come anyway; it was you who dragged me here! If you want to see the handover ceremony, you could just watch it on TV!" 0

Feeling guilty, Jiang Yizhou quietly watched the television. 0

Listening to the broadcast, everyone stood up. After a series of procedures, as the familiar melody played, the national flag was raised. Jiang Yizhou felt restless and wanted to hum along with the national anthem. But seeing Song Rushi's serious face, he immediately fell silent. 0

After watching the handover ceremony, Jiang Yizhou excused himself to go to the bathroom. Song Rushi suddenly relaxed, sweat visible between her forehead strands. 0

Regarding that big child who shrank back at her slight scare, Song Rushi had mixed feelings. This person was simple; initially influenced by her best friend's advice, she gradually got used to this way of interacting with Jiang Yizhou. 0

Habits become second nature, making her somewhat resentful. She was reluctant to leave her current career; more importantly, she understood Jiang Yizhou—aside from his inexplicable genius. 0

After sensing the bathroom for a while and finding no signs of Jiang Yizhou coming out, Song Rushi entered his bedroom. She opened the cabinet by the bed and searched for a bit, finally spotting something she expected to find. The usually composed and capable Song Rushi couldn't help but feel a bit flushed. 0

"What's wrong? Did you catch a cold or something?" After reflecting in the bathroom for quite some time, Jiang Yizhou had calmed down but reached no conclusions. Seeing Song Rushi's slightly flushed face, he casually asked. 0

"Why don't you hurry up and change your clothes? Do you plan to wear your bathrobe to see the troops?" Song Rushi half-pushed, half-encouraged Jiang Yizhou into the bedroom while she organized her thoughts. 0

Jiang Yizhou grabbed a camera and the Five-Star Red Flag, then called a taxi through customer service. The two didn't take long to get into the car and headed towards one of the ports where the army was passing through. 0

"Excuse me, sir and ma'am! The military is coming into port now, and there are just too many people welcoming them. The roads are restricted, so we can't get too close!" 0

"Then let's just go as far as we can!" Jiang Yizhou accepted the driver's address with ease and gave him a hundred Hong Kong dollars as compensation. 0

Seeing the money, the driver took a detour, cheerfully addressing them as sir and ma'am along the way, which Jiang Yizhou found quite enjoyable. 0

Meanwhile, Song Rushi couldn't see his expression clearly in the night and turned her head to look out the window. 0

Eventually, they arrived at Ma Hui Road in Sheung Shui, where a large crowd had already gathered along both sides of the road. Jiang Yizhou held Song Rushi's hand and finally squeezed their way to the roadside. 0

Song Rushi tried to discreetly pull her hand back but was instead handed a camera by Jiang Yizhou. "Sister Ru Shi, help me take a picture! Open this, place your hand here, and press this button to shoot!" 0

As Jiang Yizhou patiently taught her how to use his newly bought Canon digital camera, she looked at his excited face and felt unsure about what to do. As for what would happen next, she decided to let it unfold naturally! 0

She opened the camera and took several shots of Jiang Yizhou making silly peace signs while shouting "cheese." 0

Then their roles reversed; Song Rushi stood there with a faint smile. The roadside lights were somewhat dim, making it hard for Jiang Yizhou to see her expression clearly. 0

"Sister Ru Shi, tilt your head up a bit and smile brightly like this!" Jiang Yizhou grinned widely, showing his gums. "Show your teeth; otherwise, I can't see your face!" 0

"You’re being ridiculous! I'm not Black; I don't need to show my teeth to be seen!" Song Rushi laughed at him, playfully punching him twice before revealing her gums without exaggeration but still showing her two rows of teeth. 0

"Hey, just like this, say cheese! Let's take a few more!" Jiang Yizhou happily snapped photos until Song Rushi felt it was inappropriate and snatched the camera from his hands. "Save some memory!" 0

Jiang Yizhou laughed, realizing he had lost his tool of mischief. He thought about grabbing the camera back but was met with Song Rushi's furious glare. 0

"Hey, you two must be from the mainland, right?" an elderly man in his seventies asked the now quiet Jiang Yizhou. 0

"That's right! But we're currently working in the United States and took a leave to personally experience this proud moment!" Jiang Yizhou, in a good mood, was much friendlier to strangers, especially since this man had come out in the rain to welcome their homeland. 0

"That's wonderful! You both have such energy. I've been waiting for this moment for most of my life!" the old man said with a hint of nostalgia. 0

China today is not yet the proud nation it would later become, and Jiang Yizhou couldn't fully understand the elderly man's excitement. By the time he grew up and began to understand the world, his homeland was already standing tall among nations. 0

People began to take China's strength for granted and started to feel indignant about or helplessly accept the dark past hidden beneath its development, yearning for a society that matched its national power. 0

Perhaps this old gentleman would not experience the slow disappointment that Jiang Yizhou might face as he witnessed his country achieve one great accomplishment after another before leaving this world. 0

Regardless, Jiang Yizhou was there to witness history. "The vehicles are coming; our soldiers are here!" Hearing the calls ahead, Jiang Yizhou couldn't hold back any longer. One hand nervously yet excitedly held Song Rushi's slightly trembling hand while the other waved the Five-Star Red Flag, waiting for the vehicles carrying their soldiers to pass by. 0
