Just when Erin was at her wit's end, a sudden high-pitched and piercing sound erupted from in front of her. The noise was sharp and grating, as if it were trying to pierce through her eardrum, causing her intense pain. She instinctively covered her ears, attempting to block out the unbearable sound.
A massive shadow loomed over her, as if a powerful entity had descended. The insect that had been crazily trying to prey on Erin seemed to sense this presence and immediately halted its feeding. Its mandibles quickly retracted into the darkness, leaving only two glowing red eyes coldly staring at Erin, as if warning her not to make a move.
Erin looked in terror at the creature in the darkness; those glowing red eyes felt like the gaze of death, suffocating her. Her heart raced, and fear surged like a tide, making the entire world feel blurred and unreal.
The high-frequency screech continued to echo in her mind, like a sharp dagger slicing through her consciousness. She felt her thoughts becoming chaotic, her vision blurring, unable to focus. The sound pierced into her mind like countless needles, sending waves of agony through her.
"What is this?" Erin desperately asked herself, trying to calm down, but the high-pitched noise made it impossible to think. She felt as though she were trapped in an endless nightmare with no escape.
Struggling to rise from the ground, Erin's legs trembled uncontrollably. She looked up at the enormous shadow, trying to discern what it was. The moment her gaze caught sight of the colossal figure, her heart skipped a beat; fear washed over her like a cold tide, drowning her consciousness. She collapsed back onto the floor, staring in horror at the sight before her.
It was a gigantic cicada, its massive body covered in a smooth and hard shell that emitted an eerie glow. Its colorful wings fluttered incessantly; each beat brought with it a strong gust of wind that left Erin gasping for breath. The countless transparent wings shimmered under the light like a monster from a nightmare, exuding endless threats and fears.
What terrified Erin the most were the millions of compound eyes fixed on her. Those eyes held no emotion—only coldness and an icy stare that seemed intent on stripping away her very soul. The compound eyes sparkled like countless stars in the darkness, overwhelming Erin with an immense sense of pressure and despair.
On the verge of collapse, she struggled to comprehend the horrifying scene before her. The once sharp and piercing sound of the cicada transformed into a whispering murmur that echoed continuously in her ears. "Submit... A New King shall rise..."
Erin's heart raced like a drum; her breath quickened as countless chaotic voices and images flooded her mind. She felt her will being eroded by that whispering voice, as if she were being consumed by an invisible force. Desperately trying to resist, she found herself ensnared by that voice's intangible magic.
"No, no!" Erin cried out in terror, clutching her head tightly with both hands in an attempt to block out the invasive sound. Her body shook uncontrollably as endless fear and despair filled her heart. The whisper seemed to possess some kind of power that gradually infiltrated her mind, causing waves of headache and dread.
The cicada had been circling in the air but slowly descended to the ground. As it landed, a tremendous pressure swept through like a raging wind, nearly blowing Erin away. She clung tightly to the ground, struggling to maintain her balance as the fear within intensified.
The enormous cicada extended its icy tendrils, the cold touch of its exoskeleton manifesting on Eileen's body, sending a chilling wave through her. The cicada's appendages slowly and powerfully grasped her, as if she were a fragile doll. That frigid sensation filled her with an overwhelming sense of fear and helplessness, as if her entire body had been frozen.
The cicada positioned Eileen before it, its massive Compound Eye coldly gazing at her. As she drew closer, the murmur in her mind grew stronger. It was as if an ancient and mysterious language echoed within her consciousness, causing waves of headache and confusion.
"Submit... the New King will soon be born..." The voice became clearer and more intense, whispering deep within her soul, bringing endless temptation and threat.
Visions began to swirl in Eileen's eyes; the cicada gradually blurred before her, transforming into a magnificent angelic figure. This angel stood tall and radiant, exuding immense authority and a sacred aura. Its wings shimmered with a spectrum of colors, the Compound Eye sparkling like stars, radiating a mesmerizing light.
Eileen's heart was filled with chaos and uncertainty; she could no longer discern whether what lay before her was a monster or a divine being. The illusion seemed deeply rooted in her consciousness, drawing her in with an irresistible allure.
"Submit... the New King will soon be born..." The voice grew ever stronger, as if planting a seed deep within her soul, gradually eroding her will.
Eileen's vision blurred further; everything around her felt unreal. She sensed her consciousness fading amidst the voice and the vision, as if she were being consumed by an endless void of darkness and brilliance. Her heartbeat quickened, breaths came in gasps, as though she were trapped in an inescapable nightmare.
"This can't be real... it's just an illusion..." Eileen told herself internally, trying to remain awake. Yet the power of the voice and the vision was too overwhelming, leaving her feeling utterly helpless and desperate.
Just as she felt herself on the brink of being completely engulfed by the illusion, Eileen suddenly sensed a faint strength surging from deep within her heart. She knew she had to resist this malevolent force; no matter how difficult it was, she could not give up.
"No, I will not submit!" Eileen shouted internally, summoning every last ounce of strength to break free from the grip of the illusion.
