Huo Mother ignored Sister-in-law and quickly walked over to check on Huo Jinge. "Jing Ge, are you hurt?"
Huo Jinge's mouth was nearly dripping with oil as she pointed at the waiter and began to yell, "Can't you see?"
"It was you who bumped into me."
Jian Yunong had clearly reminded the woman rushing over to step aside.
But Huo Jinge was like a lit firecracker, and it ended in tragedy.
"Do you know how much my clothes cost?"
Huo Jinge was about to explode. "Brother, I want to break this woman's hand; she ruined my favorite dress!"
In the Huo Family's third branch, she was the only precious jewel, spoiled by the old man to the point of being uncontrollable. If someone offended her without realizing it, they would either go bankrupt or end up with broken limbs.
Jian Yunong was quite scared; this was on Huo Family's territory. If limbs were really broken, it would be just a matter of a word from the Huo Family.
"Jing Ge, is this how a girl should speak?"
Huo Jincheng did not agree with his sister's reckless behavior.
"Get up."
Huo Jincheng not only did not comfort Huo Jinge but instead helped the clumsy woman sitting on the ground to her feet.
His expression was not good, and Jian Yunong felt that disaster was about to befall her.
"Are you okay?"
From that flat statement, Jian Yunong sensed a hint of concern.
She looked up at him, the corners of her mouth twitching slightly. "I'm fine."
Secretly, she hid her injured hand behind her back.
This small movement did not escape Huo Jincheng's notice.
"Is this what you call fine?"
Huo Jincheng's voice suddenly rose several degrees.
"It's just a small cut."
Jian Yunong dismissed it.
"Have you forgotten that you're pregnant?" Huo Jincheng was furious. They had come to attend a family gathering, yet this girl inexplicably ran into the kitchen to help out.
Seeing his grim expression, Jian Yunong's lips moved, but she said nothing.
Huo's mother was also speechless. "Why would you do something like this?"
"These are all things that the servants did, okay?"
Huo Jinge faintly sensed something was off. "Brother, you don't care about me, you care about this person? Could it be..."
Huo Mother felt a headache coming on; this Daughter-in-law was truly troublesome, running around for no reason!
"Huo Jincheng, quickly take her back to the room to check on her. Didn't you say she wasn't feeling well? Why is she running around?"
"Hey!"
Huo Jinge couldn't believe it and insisted on clarifying the matter. "Who is she?"
The entire Huo Family was focused on this situation.
"Friend!"
"Your sister-in-law!"
The voices of Jian Yunong and Huo Jincheng almost echoed at the same time.
The two exchanged glances.
Huo Jincheng's eyes were cold, making it difficult for anyone to meet his gaze directly.
Jian Yunong silently lowered her head. Hadn't she just embarrassed him? Why did she still have to admit it?
Huo Jincheng pulled Jian Yunong through the crowd of onlookers from the Huo Family and out of the dining room.
The dining room erupted into chaos.
"It's terrible, they didn't even get a chance to sit down for a meal."
"Isn't that right? Look at how far she's gone to be a daughter-in-law; she must love Huo Jincheng to death."
"Huo Jincheng's face was terrifyingly dark. He’s probably going to make her pay for it."
Only Huo Jinge was still in shock.
Her brother actually said that woman was his sister-in-law!
That meant he acknowledged her identity!
*
As soon as they returned to the room, Jian Yunong was pressed onto the sofa.
The wound on her hand was actually quite small; it just looked a bit alarming because of the bleeding.
Without saying a word, Huo Jincheng applied the medicinal alcohol and began to dab it on the wound.
"It hurts, it hurts, it hurts!"
Jian Yunong was on the verge of tears.
"If you want a divorce, just say it. I don't want to die!"
Jian Yunong had her hand pinned down, causing her to grimace in pain.
"Ah, ah, ah..."
"It hurts, it hurts..."
"Be gentle, be gentle... it hurts so much."
Huo Jincheng completed everything with a blank expression, crossing his arms and watching her coldly.
"Jian Yunong, tell me the truth. Have you fallen in love with me?"
Jian Yunong was so startled that she almost fell off the sofa. "Huo Jincheng, do you think that's possible?"
Huo Jincheng's eyes glinted coldly. "Then stop doing these things! Trying to please my family? Creating a tragic image? Making my grandparents like you?"
Huo Jincheng glanced at the blood-stained cotton swabs on the floor. They both had panda blood; if something went wrong, it would be disastrous!
"Is it an accident? Maybe it's because our styles are too different. I was dragged into the kitchen as soon as I walked in..."
Oh no! There was something else she forgot!
Jian Yunong stood up quickly, saying, "I need to go back to the kitchen."
She grabbed the first aid kit and was about to rush out.
"Where are you going? Can't you just sit quietly for a moment?"
Huo Jincheng was truly exasperated with Jian Yunong and pushed her back onto the sofa.
"There's a woman in the kitchen who got cut on her hand by glass because of me..."
Jian Yunong's voice gradually faded. Originally, Bird's Nest wasn't something she was delivering, but since that woman got hurt, Jian Yunong volunteered to help.
Jian Yunong really had no interest in the Huo Family's family banquet; however, the lively atmosphere in the kitchen was quite appealing to her.
"Sit still."
Huo Jincheng raised an eyebrow, his thin lips curling dangerously.
Jian Yunong remained still.
Huo Jincheng picked up the phone on the table and instructed the butler, "Send a doctor to the kitchen to check on the injured worker."
Jian Yunong silently sat back down.
"What made you go to the kitchen?"
Huo Jincheng asked with a hoarse voice.
"It's your fault. I searched everywhere for you and ended up in the kitchen."
"You did it on purpose."
The flat tone was not a question but a statement of certainty.
Huo Jincheng's deep eyes easily saw through her little thoughts.
Yes, she did it on purpose; she had no interest in the Huo Family's family banquet.
"Smart."
Jian Yunong dryly complimented.
"…"
At that moment, someone knocked on the bedroom door.
"The old man sent someone to ask how the Young Mistress is doing."
Jian Yunong immediately shook her head at Huo Jincheng, signaling that she was fine, really fine.
"Nothing's wrong." Huo Jincheng's lips curled into a cold smile, "Just lost a lot of blood."
Jian Yunong: "..."
Huo Jincheng glanced at her lightly, "I'm just speaking the truth."
"Where is there a lot of blood!"
Jian Yunong felt that Huo Jincheng was really making a big deal out of nothing, her voice rising a few notches, "Grandpa and Grandma will be worried!"
"It's too late."
Since he knew others would worry, he shouldn't have done these things that caused concern in the first place!
Huo Jincheng pulled Jian Yunong over and started wrapping gauze around her hand.
Soon, that hand was wrapped up like a mummy.
"What is this? It looks like I'm disabled or something!"
She held up her hand, her little face scrunched up; this was too exaggerated!
Huo Jincheng grabbed her other hand, "Go greet Grandpa and Grandma."
As they walked over, it felt like everyone's gaze was on her and her wrapped hand.
When they reached Grandpa Huo Jincheng and Grandma, Jian Yunong took the initiative to explain.
"Actually, it's nothing."
"A little minor injury."
"It was Huo Jincheng who wrapped it up like this on purpose."
Jian Yunong found that the more she explained, the more her grandparents looked at her with concern, as if she had suffered a serious injury.
Huo Jincheng's Grandmother even insisted on having the kitchen prepare a whole new table of dishes to send to the dining room.
The Huo Family had strict rules; anyone who missed mealtime would not get another chance to eat. This was the first time an exception was made for Jian Yunong.
"Huo Jincheng, stay with your wife while she eats. She hurt her right hand, so you need to keep an eye on her."
"Yes, Grandma."
Huo Jincheng behaved very obediently in front of the elders.
Once they sat down at the dining table, Jian Yunong felt disheartened.
"Did you do this on purpose?"
With her right hand bandaged, she couldn't hold chopsticks or a spoon.
Huo Jincheng raised an eyebrow, sitting with his arms crossed and enjoying her anxious expression. He looked handsome, and his slight smile was quite pleasing to the eye.
Unfortunately, Jian Yunong had no mood to appreciate it!
He casually lifted his lips and asked, "What do you think?"
This tone made Jian Yunong grind her teeth in anger.
Just a moment ago, she thought this person might be doing it for her own good, helping her avoid scolding from her elders.
She didn't know how Huo Jincheng had wrapped the bandage; Jian Yunong couldn't even untie the gauze on her hands.
"Forget it, I'm not that hungry anyway," Jian Yunong pretended to be reserved and put down her chopsticks.
Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle.
Her stomach stubbornly sang an empty city plan!
What a slap in the face!
"Come sit over here."
Huo Jincheng patted the spot next to him.
Jian Yunong looked at him warily and asked, "What for?"
"Don't you want to eat?"
"Think, think, think!"
Jian Yunong thought he suddenly became compassionate and was about to unwrap the bandage on her hand, so she happily sat over and extended her hand in front of Huo Jincheng.
However, Huo Jincheng ignored the hand wrapped like a pig's trotter and instead went to pick up food.
Jian Yunong felt frustrated, "Did you ask me to come over just to watch you eat?"
As soon as she finished speaking, a piece of Noble Consort Chicken was delivered to Jian Yunong's mouth.
The aroma of the chicken wafted through the air; it was tender and delicious, so much so that Jian Yunong felt like she could swallow her tongue.
In an instant, Jian Yunong felt elated and transformed into a chatterbox: "Let me tell you, I saw them making this dish in the kitchen. The process is particularly complicated. First, this chicken is different from ordinary ones..."
While eating and sharing what she learned in the kitchen, Jian Yunong was so excited that she didn't even realize it was Huo Jincheng feeding her.
Whenever Huo Jincheng brought his chopsticks over, she would open her mouth.
Huo Jinge watched this scene from behind the screen, furious enough to spit blood.
She initially thought that Huo Jincheng might have reluctantly accepted this woman, but who knew they had developed to the point of feeding each other.
When Huo Jincheng claimed he was cheating, she thought he was just saying that for face!
Huo Jinge rushed in and glared at Jian Yunong, "Don't you have hands?"
Jian Yunong silently raised her right hand, which was wrapped like a rice dumpling.
Huo Jinge wanted to say something more, but Huo Jincheng spoke first, "Jing Ge, don't be so disrespectful."
"Hmph!" Huo Jinge was reprimanded and felt very unhappy. She turned her anger towards Jian Yunong, "You're such an adult, yet you still need my brother to feed you. You all make me sick!"
"Get out!"
Huo Jincheng's voice held no emotion. His cold gaze made Huo Jinge feel a chill.
Huo Jincheng was angry.
He actually wanted her to leave for this woman!
