Jian Yunong had no choice but to go back and use concealer to cover the hickeys on her neck. Looking in the mirror, the light pink and deep red marks on her fair skin made her heart race.
Jian Yunong tried hard not to think about the intensity and tenderness of the affair that morning; Huo Jincheng was quite delicate, though sometimes very domineering.
Seeing her own reflection in the mirror, with her eyes glistening as if infused with spring colors, felt somewhat unfamiliar.
"This is a bit strange," she thought.
"Sister San!" Huo Jinge called anxiously, unable to help but urge from the doorway.
Jian Yunong dared not dawdle any longer. After quickly confirming that she hadn't forgotten anything, she rushed out.
In the dining room, almost all of the Huo family was present.
Except for Huo Jincheng and Huo Liangchen.
"Sorry to keep everyone waiting," Jian Yunong said as she quickly took a seat, feeling particularly embarrassed for making the elders wait.
"It's fine. Huo Jincheng told us to wait until lunch before calling you," Grandma Huo said with a loving smile, instructing a servant to serve her a bowl of fresh soup. "You've worked hard; make sure to replenish yourself."
"Worked hard?" Jian Yunong thought it was a bit odd. "Not at all, it wasn't hard at all."
How could she feel tired when she had just gotten up?
Huo Jinge across from her was making faces at Jian Yunong.
Jian Yunong was puzzled and lowered her head to drink her soup.
"Looking at this, maybe Grandma will be able to hold her great-grandchild next year," Huo Jinge said mischievously, deliberately teasing Jian Yunong.
Jian Yunong choked up; it turned out the hardship they were talking about was this? It really was quite tough! But saying it in front of everyone felt really strange!
Bai Yaoyao's face darkened as she picked through the dishes in her bowl. She was Changsun's daughter-in-law, and her family background was no worse than Jian Yunong's, yet now everyone was only focused on this fool Jian Yunong. Not even understanding what Grandma meant by hardship, yet having the audacity to say it wasn't tough—how shameless!
"Old Daughter-in-law, is this dish not to your taste today?"
Suddenly being called out by Grandma, Bai Yaoyao stiffened for a moment, her chopsticks poking at the jade-white tofu in her bowl until it was unrecognizable, yet she didn't even notice.
"I didn't sleep well last night, Grandma, so my appetite isn't great," Bai Yaoyao explained in a soft voice.
"Was Huo Liangchen not home again last night? This child, he finally returned to the country; why doesn't he spend more time at home? Yaoyao, you two haven't seen each other for so long; you need to take the initiative to show some concern. Men have a lot going on outside; you need to be understanding."
It's always the woman's fault! Bai Yaoyao suppressed her unwillingness and lowered her head submissively, saying, "Yes."
At this moment, Huo Jinge's mother spoke up, "It's been a few years since the eldest married Yaoyao, right? Don't let a woman's best childbearing age slip away."
"Yes. You two should hurry up and have one. It would be best if you could have a baby together with Nong Nong next year. That way, our Huo Family will have double happiness."
The elders were all smiles.
Jian Yunong buried his head in his food, feeling an inexplicable intense gaze.

In the afternoon, Jian Yunong boarded a bus to the neighboring city. Before leaving, she called Huo Jincheng.
Huo Jincheng did not answer.

Huo Jincheng saw Jian Yunong's missed call by the evening.
He was about to call her back when the Huo Family Old Residence called first, instructing him to return home immediately.
The tone was very serious.
Huo Jincheng went home right away and tried to call Jian Yunong on the way, but there was no service.
He instructed the driver to speed up, worried that something might have happened to his silly wife at home.
Grandma Huo called Huo Jincheng into the tea room and got straight to the point. "Did you tell Jian Yunong to use contraception?"

"Then what is this pill? It was found under your bed."
The old lady pushed a small box toward him, inside which was a white pill.
"What is this?"
Huo Jincheng casually rubbed the small box in his palm, a helpless smile on his face. "These are my Vitamin C Tablets."
The old lady looked on with skepticism.
Huo Jincheng sat beside his grandmother, casually putting the pills into his pocket while patting her back affectionately. "I thought it was a big deal. Both Nong Nong and I know you want grandchildren. We want children too, and we won't say one thing in front of you and do another behind your back. Don't worry."
Mrs. Huo no longer doubted him. "That's true. Nong Nong is such an honest person; she seems like a good child."
A fleeting shadow crossed Huo Jincheng's eyes, but his voice remained lighthearted. "You know she's honest, so why didn't you think these might be mine?"
Someone must be guiding his grandmother from behind.
Mrs. Huo vaguely brushed off the topic, saying she was just getting old and confused, worried that Huo Jincheng was too focused on enjoying life to think about having children.
However, Huo Jincheng himself wasn't ready for children just yet, but with both parents aging, he couldn't just indulge himself without considering filial piety.
With a few words, Huo Jincheng managed to smooth over the situation.
As he left the tea room and passed through the living room, Huo Jincheng's gloomy expression caught Bai Yaoyao's attention.
Bai Yaoyao smiled and said, "Sister-in-law is secretly taking medicine to avoid having children, which upset grandma. You need to educate her properly; who knows if she can't have kids?"
Only then did Huo Jincheng look directly at Bai Yaoyao. "So it was you who spoke out of turn in front of grandma."
Bai Yaoyao's expression darkened slightly. "That's the truth. Why am I being blamed for it?"
Huo Jincheng sneered coldly. "I advise you to take care of your own matters, Sister-in-law. Maybe overthinking is why there haven't been any children all these years."
Bai Yaoyao trembled with anger, "Your brother has never touched me!"
Huo Jincheng was slightly taken aback, then showed indifference, "Feeling wronged? Then go tell Grandpa and Grandma. Let them decide for you."
Huo Jincheng did not intend to get involved in the matters between Bai Yaoyao and Huo Liangchen.
"Huo Jincheng. We used to have a good relationship!" Bai Yaoyao felt distressed, tears glistening in her eyes, "Why has it changed now?"
Huo Jincheng glanced at her sideways, "You know that was in the past. Now you are Sister-in-law."
Bai Yaoyao pressed her lips tightly together.
Huo Jincheng put his hands in his pockets and slowly walked upstairs, "This is your own choice. You are the one who insisted on marrying into this family, and you are also the one who would rather live as a widow than get a divorce. The path you chose is yours to bear. Don't drag innocent people into your troubles."
Bai Yaoyao dug her nails deep into her palm.
If it weren't for Jian Yunong, how could she be looked down upon by her family? Without comparison, there would be no harm; what right does Jian Yunong have to make everyone like her?

In Neighboring City, Jian Yunong finally borrowed a phone to call Foggy, her voice choked with tears, "Auntie, my phone and wallet have been stolen."
