The city at night was illuminated, with a gentle moonlight casting a soft glow in the air, making the entire city appear as if it were shrouded in a thin veil.
At the entrance of the Banquet Hall, staff members were checking invitations. Stepping into the Banquet Hall, it was bustling with people, a scene of prosperity. The red cashmere carpet beneath her feet was festive and luxurious, while the crystal chandeliers overhead reflected a soft yet dazzling light. Numerous paintings adorned the walls, clearly created by renowned artists. Everywhere she looked exuded opulence.
Green Qi scanned the room; everyone was dressed to the nines, including several figures frequently seen in television news. It seemed that Mu Group's President had enough clout to host such an event for a Resort's anniversary.
Walking down the center of the red carpet, she slowly entered. Although she had no intention of attending the banquet, since she was there, it wouldn’t hurt to see the legendary Mu Family's handsome President. She admired the interior design, sometimes focusing intently and other times smiling lightly.
Unknowingly, she attracted the attention of many prominent figures. Like a noble queen, her elegant posture and graceful figure lifted the atmosphere of the entire venue.
Jiang Chengmu, who was with his female companion, also noticed that captivating figure amidst the discussions. The striking brilliance was impossible to ignore, and when he saw that familiar face, a flash of astonishment crossed his eyes.
"Jiang Shao, who is that woman? I've never seen her before!" his companion Lu Manqing asked charmingly, her body subtly brushing against Jiang Chengmu's as she spoke, her voice tinged with jealousy.
Indeed, this circle wasn't particularly large or small, but one would expect to recognize someone who frequently appeared at such events.
"You'll know soon enough; I'll introduce you!" Jiang Chengmu teased. He was curious to see what his Mrs. Jiang was up to since he hadn’t invited her. They usually only saw each other on Sundays when returning to the Jiang family home, and every time he saw her, she looked plain; today was certainly a surprise.
With a smirk on his lips, Jiang Chengmu wrapped his arm around the woman beside him and walked toward Green Qi. He joked, "Wife, what brings you here?" Appearing with another woman in front of his wife was undoubtedly a public slap in Green Qi's face.
Green Qi remained unbothered and wore a faint smile. "I heard the Resort has beautiful scenery, so I came to take a look."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Chengmu smiled knowingly. "Since we’ve met, let’s introduce each other. Lan Qing, this is my wife Gu Lvq Qi, Mrs. Jiang; this is Best Actress Lu Manqing; you should know each other!"
Long before Jiang Chengmu called Green Qi his wife, Lu Manqing already knew who Green Qi was. It is well known that Jiang Dashao is married, yet the so-called Mrs. Jiang is rarely seen, and they didn't even hold a wedding for their high-profile marriage. The entire circle knows it is merely a business alliance.
This made her fearless in front of Green Qi, without a hint of guilt, and even wanting to mock her. "Jiang Shao has such a beautiful Mrs. Jiang but chooses me as his companion; I’ve innocently become the third party!"
Actors are indeed actors; they can easily tell lies. How clever Green Qi is; she would not fail to hear the sarcasm in those words. What does it matter if she is beautiful? She can't even hold onto her husband's heart.
Green Qi maintained her composed smile, and upon hearing Lu Manqing's provocative words, her smile did not waver. "I have always heard that Miss Lu's acting skills are top-notch; I didn't expect Miss Lu to be so eloquent as well. Jiang Shao is truly fortunate to have you by his side, and I hope Miss Lu can help me out more."
Her flawless words sounded like a queen planning her territory, as if saying, "If you like it, take it; I have plenty."
Lu Manqing felt as if Green Qi regarded her as a second-hand item, and her jealousy only deepened into resentment towards Green Qi.
